  • At the paper the method of 3D holographic moving image reconstruction is discused. The main idea of this method is based on the substitution of optically created static hologram by equal diffraction array created by acoustical (AO) field which formed by bulk sound waves. Such sound field can be considered as dynamic optical hologram, which is electrically controlled. At the certain moment of time when the whole hologram already formed, the reference optical beam illuminates it, and due to acoustooptical interaction the original optical image is reconstructed. As the acoustically created dynamic optical hologram is electronically controlled, it can be used for moving 3-dimentional scene reconstruction in real time. The architecture of holographic display for moving scene reconstruction is presented at this paper. The calculated variant of such display laboratory model is given and discussed. The mathematical simulation of step by step images recording and reconstruction is given. The pictures of calculated reconstructed images are presented. The prospects, application areas, shortcomings and main problems are discussed.

  • A 3D indoor model becomes an indiscernible component of BIM (Building Information Modeling) and GIS (Geographic Information System). However, a huge amount of time and human resources are inevitable for collecting spatial measurements and creating such a 3D indoor model. Also, a varied forms of 3D indoor models exist depending on their purpose of use. Thus, in this study, three different 3D indoor models are defined as 1) omnidirectional images, 2) a 3D realistic model, and 3) 3D indoor as-built model. A series of reconstruction methods is then introduced to construct each type of 3D indoor models: they are an omnidirectional image acquisition method, a hybrid surveying method, and a terrestrial LiDAR-based method. The reconstruction methods are applied to a large and complex atrium, and their 3D modeling results are compared and analyzed.

  • The chemotherapy sensitive Lewis lung carcinoma (LLC) and chemotherapy resistant Lewis lung carcinoma (CR-LLC) tumors concurrently implanted in mice, and compare these findings with histological macroscopic observations against 3D reconstruction of Fluorescence Molecular Tomography (FMT) preformed in vivo on the same animals. For the 3D image reconstruction we used 32 laser source images, a flat image and 3D surface rendering that confused for 3D Fluorescence Molecular Imaging (FMI). A minimum of ten tissue sections were analyzed per tumor for quantification of the TUNEL-positive cells, cell-associated Cy5.5-Annexin and vessel-associated Alexa Fluor-Lectin. These are useful apoptosis and angiogenesis markers, and they serve as validation experiments to data obtained in vivousing a Cy5.5-Annexin V conjugate injected intravenously in chemotherapy-treated animals carrying the tumors studied histologically. We detected higher levels of apoptosis and corresponding higher levels of Cy5.5 fluorescence in the LLC vs. the CR-LLC tumors according to tissue depth and these findings confirm that in vivo staining with the Cy5.5-Annexing conjugate correlates well with in vitro TUNEL staining and is consistent with the higher apoptotic index expected from the LLC line. There appeared to be 1.38% more apoptosis for LLC than CR-LLC. Consequently there is good correlation between the histology results and in vivo fluorescence-mediated optical imaging. In conclusion the apoptotic images of 3D FMI were validated by microscopic histological image analysis. This is a significant result for the continuous progress of fluorescence 3D imaging research.

  • This paper presents a stereo-based image compression and transmission system for 3D realistic television. In the proposed system, a disparity map is extracted from an input stereo image pair and the extracted disparity map and one of two input images are transmitted or stored at a local or remote site. However, correspondences can not be determined in occlusion areas. Thus, it is not easy to recover 3D information in such regions. In this paper, a reconstruction image compensation algorithm based on error block concealment and in-loop filtering is proposed to minimize the reconstruction error in generating stereo image pair. The effectiveness of the proposed algorithm is shown in term of objective accuracy of reconstruction image with several real stereo image pairs.

  • We derive the phase error of hologram due to imperfection of a wave plate, the azimuth angle error of a wave plate, and the azimuth angle error of a linear polarizer. Also, we analyze the effect of phase error by the modified triangular interferometer in case of 3-D image reconstruction of hologram.

  • 3D reconstruction of urban architecture, land, and roads is an important part of building a "digital city." Unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) are gradually replacing other platforms, such as satellites and aircraft, in geographical image collection; the reason for this is not only lower cost and higher efficiency, but also higher data accuracy and a larger amount of obtained information. Recent 3D reconstruction algorithms have a high degree of automation, but their computation time is long and the reconstruction models may have many voids. This paper decomposes the object into multiple regional parallel reconstructions using the clustering principle, to reduce the computation time and improve the model quality. It is proposed to detect the planar area under low resolution, and then reduce the number of point clouds in the complex area.

  • Computer vision system become more important as the researches on inspection systems, intelligent robots , diagnostic medical systems is performed actively. In this paper, 3D measuring system is developed by using stereo vision. The relation between left image and right image is obtained by using 8 point algorithm, and fundamental matrix, epipole and 3D reconstruction algorithm are used to measure 3D dimensions. 3D measuring system was developed by Visual Basic, in which 3D coordinates would be obtained by simple mouse clicks. This software would be applied to construction area, home interior system, rapid measuring system.

  • A 3D reconstruction technique from stereo images that requires minimal intervention from the user has been developed. The reconstruction problem consists of three steps of estimating specific geometry groups. The first step is estimating the epipolar geometry that exists between the stereo image pairs which includes feature matching in both images. The second is estimating the affine geometry, a process to find a special plane in the projective space by means of vanishing points. The third step, which includes camera self-calibration, is obtaining a metric geometry from which a 3D model of the scene could be obtained. The major advantage of this method is that the stereo images do not need to be calibrated for reconstruction. The results of camera calibration and reconstruction have shown the possibility of obtaining a 3D model directly from features in the images.
