3D-based information is needed increasingly as well as 2D Information as cities grow and buildings become large and complex, and use of 3D-models is getting attention to handle such problems. However, there are limitations in using 3D-models because most applications and research efforts using them have been for visual analysis. This study presents a method to find optimal paths in indoor spaces as an illustration for using 3D-models in spatial analysis. We modeled rooms, paths and other facilities in a building as individual 3D objects. We made it possible to find paths based on network structure by integrating the vector-based networks of 2D-GIS and 3D-model.

The dual-stream based stereoscopic 3D broadcasting standard was developed in 2011. EBS broadcasted 3DTV experimental service according to this standard in April 2012. Dual-stream based 3DTV broadcasting is service-compatible and backward-compatible, so viewers who have legacy 2D HDTV can watch the broadcasting content as 2D. And 3DTV viewers can select watching 2D or 3D. Since 3D content production is not usual yet for terrestrial broadcasters, only some particular programs in specific periods will be broadcasted as 3D at the initiatory stage. For it, stable viewing condition is strongly required for both 2D viewers and 3D viewers. This paper suggests broadcasting transmission system structure and effective switching scheme for stable 2D and 3D viewing conditions in the case of dual-stream based terrestrial 3DTV broadcasting.

This paper aims to build a 2D/3D map navigation that the user can efficiently operate in terms of feeding attribute information after securing 2D/3D space data. This system provides 2D/3D screen navigation that supports variety of operational visual effects and displays the location that the user is retrieving. Also it presents picture information of buildings with higher resolution and URL, name of store, phone number, other related information. Effectiveness of this system is as follows: first, development and distribution of a new technology of 2D/3D spatial database that changes the previous 2D/3D based system concept to the 2D/3D based one. Second, increase of developmental productivity by utilizing the integrated 2D/3D spatial database for developing various interfaces. Finally, it provides security of the preemptive technological position with world class domestic 2D/3D spatial database technologies.

Recently, Metaverse service has been widely used to naturally communicate with a remote location, freeing from time and spatial constraints. In order to produce such contents, it is necessary to restore and synthesize a 3D model based on real space data. In this paper, a 3D-generated reconstruction model is produced based on continuous images using multiple cameras and a technique to correct the reconstructed 3D model is presented. For this. offline multi-camera setup was performed, errors were analyzed on the 3D model created through images obtained from various angles, and correction was performed using a matching technique between image frames. It is expected that 3D reconstructed data can be utilized in various service fields such as culture, tourism, and medical care.
This paper presents the 2D/3D conversion technique using depth map which is generated based on the haze and relative height cue. In cases that only the conventional haze information is used, errors in image without haze could be generated. To reduce this kind of errors, a new approach is proposed combining the haze information with depth map which is constructed based on the relative height cue. Also the gray scale image from Mean Shift Segmentation is combined with depth map of haze information to sharpen the object's contour lines, upgrading the quality of 3D image. Left and right view images are generated by DIBR(Depth Image Based Rendering) using input image and final depth map. The left and right images are used to generate red-cyan 3D image and the result is verified by measuring PSNR between the depth maps.

In this study, both two- and three-dimensional (2D and 3D) finite-volume-based models were developed to analyze the heat transfer mechanisms through the porous structures of cellular concretes under steady-state heat transfer conditions and to investigate the differences between the 2D and 3D modeling results. The 2D and 3D reconstructed pore networks were generated from the microstructural information measured by 3D images captured by X-ray computerized tomography (X-CT). The computed effective thermal conductivities based on the 2D and 3D calculations performed on the reconstructed porous structures were found to be nearly identical to those evaluated from the 2D cross-sectional images and the 3D X-CT images, respectively. In addition, the 3D computed effective thermal conductivity was found to agree better with the measured values, in comparison with the 2D reconstruction and real cross-sectional images. Finally, the thermal conductivities computed for different reconstructed porous 3D structures of cellular concretes were compared with those obtained from 2D computations performed on 2D reconstructed structures. This comparison revealed the differences between 2D and 3D image-based modeling. A correlation was thus derived between the results of the 3D and 2D models.

The content-based hashing for authentication and copy protection of image, video and 3D model has to satisfy the robustness and the security. For the security analysis of the hash value, the modelling method based on differential entropy had been presented. But this modelling can be only applied to the image hashing. This paper presents the modelling for the security analysis of the hash feature value in 3D model hashing based on differential entropy. The proposed security analysis modeling design the feature extracting methods of two types and then analyze the security of two feature values by using differential entropy modelling. In our experiment, we evaluated the security of feature extracting methods of two types and discussed about the trade-off relation of the security and the robustness of hash value.

Design of civil infrastructures is generally based on 2-D drawings and analyses. Design provisions also specify the limit states using member based equations. Most construction projects are done through collaboration of engineers who have different specialized knowledge. Information technologies can dramatically enhance the performance of the collaboration. For the information transfer, we need a mediator between engineers. Object based 3-D models are useful for the communication and for the owners who have to maintain whole the information of infrastructures. In this paper, basic guidelines for the 3-D design according to design phases. Adequate interoperability of 3-D objects from any CAD system is essential for the collaboration. Owners, contractors and design consultants were considered as users of 3-D objects. Cost and performance of each design phases was investigated through the existing data.

A 3D model based approach for a face representation and recognition algorithm has been investigated as a robust solution for pose and illumination variation. Since a generative 3D face model consists of a large number of vertices, a 3D model based face recognition system is generally inefficient in computation time and complexity. In this paper, we propose a novel 3D face representation algorithm based on a pixel to vertex map (PVM) to optimize the number of vertices. We explore shape and texture coefficient vectors of the 3D model by fitting it to an input face using inverse compositional image alignment (ICIA) to evaluate face recognition performance. Experimental results show that the proposed face representation and recognition algorithm is efficient in computation time while maintaining reasonable accuracy.

This paper presents a 3D last design system that provides the 3-dimensional last data based on the FFD(Free Form Deformation) method. The proposed system utilizes the control points for deformation factor to convert from the 3D point cloud foot data to the 3D point cloud last data. The deformation factor of the FFD is obtained from the conventional last design technique, and constructed on the FFD lattice based on the bottom view and lateral view of the measured 3D point cloud foot data. In addition, the control points of FFD lattice is decided on the anatomical points of foot. The deformed 3D last obtained from the proposed FFD is saved as a 3D dxf foot data. The experimental results demonstrate that the proposed system have the descent 3D last data based on the openGL window.
