Priority Analysis of Factors for Activating 3D Contents lndustry Using AHP(Analytic Hierarchy Process) (계층적 분석 방법을 활용한 3D콘텐츠 활성화 요인 중요도 분석)

  • A big success of the 3D film 'Avatar' in 2009 opened a full-fledged 3D movie era. A new industrial possibility of 3D contents was predicted in Korea and then the support for 3D contents production took placed via various media platforms. Korean government also announced the new development policies with a focus on 3D content. However, the 3D content industry has not been activated. Therefore, in this study by applying AHP(Analytic Hierarchy Process) method we tried to grasp the reason of the deactivation of 3D content industry through analyzing the relative importance rate of three research factors(content aspects, technical aspects, and policy aspects) that were mainly considered to activate the industry. The results of this study showed that the relative importance rate of content aspects was higher than that of technical aspects and policy aspects. It means the lack of 3D contents is one of main reason causing the delay of 3D industrial activation. And it also showed that the relief of human factors such as visual fatigue evaluated as a sub-factors of technical aspects are challenges to be solved soon..

  • Many research works are actively being done due to the 3D contents production technology for global competition through the world. In korea, many experts have taken notice of high quality 3D movies produced by Hollywood. Recently, 3D movie "Avatar" advanced 3D computer graphics based digital production technology is heavily influencing the contents industry in global market. Therefore, In this paper, the success factor of "Avatar"has to be analyzed. Also, the analysis of 3D contents production environment of the domestic and Hollywood is performed. Based on that, we analyzed the factors of threat and opportunity of the Korean 3D contents. Also, Based on the statistical data analysis of the korean film commission, favorable reactions of the korean movie and the government's powerful policy direction, we proposed the successful possibility of the korean 3D contents.

Authoring Software Development of 3D Natural Environment for Realistic Contents (실감형 콘텐츠 제작을 위한 3D 자연환경 저작 소프트웨어 개발)

  • Nowadays, many graphic researchers are interested in 3D outdoor environment. They want to express more realistic natural background with natural phenomenon because computer hardware has become more powerful and increased a demand for a background of 3D natural environment in a content. Especially, e-sports contents and simulation contents with outdoor environment need more natural environment for a background than indoor contents. It is very important technology for a quality of 3D outdoor contents. We propose a software EMtool(Environment Making Tool) for authoring of natural environment for realistic contents. EMtool has been developed to depict relationship and interaction between natural phenomena and include methods for creating natural environment and natural objects. The proposed results are applied to real-time 3D contents such as 3D golf games and simulations for natural objects.

  • In this paper we implemented 3D contents based work process simulation for 3D view contents. For this the method of 3D view technique is explained. The automobiles and PC assembly processes according to the virtual scenario showed the technique which assists workers through 3D view. Also for 3D information visualization, max script of contents modeling functions using 3D MAX was developed. The functions are designed to customize coordinate, material edit on modeling, rendering, and 3D object files with max script.

  • 최근 들어 3D에 관한 관심이 높아지면서 각종 기술적인 이슈는 물론 3D 콘텐츠의 제작 방향에 대한 논의가 활발하게 이루어지고 있다. 흔히들 3D 콘텐츠라고 부르는 것은 현재로선 어떤 특정한 장르나 엄정한 정의를 가진 용어라기보다는 일종의 새로운 매체기술을 위한, 매체 기준적인 콘텐츠의 분류 형태라고 볼 수 있을 것이다. 따라서 3D 콘텐츠라는 용어를 새로이 썼다고 해서 좋은 콘텐츠가 지녀야 할 근본적인 요소가 달라지는 것은 아니다. 물론 매체의 발전과 변화에 따라 대중들의 가치관, 예술적 시대적 패러다임, 근본적인 인간의 생활방식까지 바뀔 수 있다는 것은 자명한 사실이다. 이는 회화 문화에서 사진의 등장으로, 사진에서 동영상으로, 영화에서 TV와 비디오로, 그리고 아날로그에서 디지털로의 중심 이동이 인간의 삶에 얼마나 큰 변화를 초래했는지만 상기해봐도 쉽게 알 수 있다. 그러므로 3D기술이 가진 파급효과와 영향력이 어디까지인지 쉽게 단정할 수는 없는 것이다. 그러나 언급했듯이 어떤 콘텐츠라도 결국엔 인간이 향유하리란 점은 분명한 사실이다. 현재는 3D 콘텐츠의 제작 방향에 대해서 지나치게 매체 중심적으로 접근하려는 경향이 있는데, 역사적으로 언제나 인간에게 매력적이었던 콘텐츠의 기본은 변함이 없었다. 변하는 것은 오히려 매체나 기술, 하드웨어 쪽이었다. 따라서 콘텐츠를 매체에 이식하는 가변적인 내용물쯤으로 이해하는 기술중심의 사고에서, 인간이 근본적으로 원하는 이야기 콘텐츠를 구현하기 위해 매체가 변해왔다는 점을 이해해야 하는 콘텐츠 중심 사고도 할 필요가 있는 것이다. 본고에서는 과거 많은 매체들의 역사를 통해 새로운 매체 기반에서의 콘텐츠의 모습이 어떻게 변해왔는지를 되짚어 보려고 하며, 이를 통해 앞으로 3D 콘텐츠의 향방을 유추해 볼 기회를 마련하고자 한다.

Awareness of Teachers-Students for Education using 3D Contents (3D 콘텐츠 활용 교육을 위한 교사와 학생의 인식)

  • In this study, we examined the perceptions of teachers and students to utilize 3D educational content. We conducted a survey about the effect of utilizing 3D educational content, interest in the 3D content, the advantages and problems of utilizing 3D education in class by targeting at elementary school teachers and elementary school students, Surveyed are students and teachers who participated the contest for 3D content development. Research results, both teachers and students were very positive about the educational effects of 3D content and they take advantage of educational content, as well as higher interest in 3D making education. We also found that they require overall support including 3D education-relevant materials and teacher training school in the field.

A Study on 3D Object and GUI Representation Based on MPEG-4 BIFS for Mobile TV (MPEG-4 BIFS 기반 모바일 방송 환경에서 3D 객체 및 GUI 표현 기술 연구)

  • Despite the fact that the mobile environment has favorable conditions for using data contents, it is not easy to implement enhanced data services for mobile broadcasting based on MPEG-4 BIFS. With a structure inherited from VRML, BIFS targets different types of content with a development approach that is not very compatible with broadcasting contents. Furthermore, it is not easy to implement BIFS because the standard is too complicated for the mobile broadcasting environment. Accordingly, this study proposes an enhanced mobile TV contents model that provides interactive 3D objects and GUI for the viewers to interact with the broadcasting contents. By applying the model to the DMB environment, this study suggests a direction for future developments of mobile broadcasting contents. In order to represent 3D graphics on mobile TV, we analyzed MPEG-BIFS 3D nodes and composed a subset of VRML profile, and defined new nodes that can efficiently represent GUI at the content development level. If this study helps facilitate expression of 3D graphics and interactions in data contents composition, enhanced efficiency of contents development is expected to promote the development of various contents suitable for the mobile broadcasting environment.

Viewers' Psychophysiological and Self-report Responses to 3D Stereoscopic Display (3D 영상의 입체성이 콘텐츠 특성에 따라 이용자의 심리적 반응에 미치는 효과 - 콘텐츠의 유인가와 각성도를 중심으로 -)

  • There has been growing academic interest in revealing the effect of 3D stereoscopic displays, mostly based on the assumption that 3D would enhance the media user's psychological experiences. A 2(Display: 2D, 3D) x 2(Arousal: High, Low) x2(Valence: Positive, Negative) within-between subject experimental design, including both psychophysiological and self-report measurements, was employed to investigate if valence and arousal of the media content interact with the 3D stereo display. The results confirmed that 3D stereo significantly enhances the viewer's skin conductance level, while no meaningful difference for HR was found across the experimental conditions. The viewer's recall memory did not differ depending on the display type either. However, the viewer experienced a greater level of presence and liking of the content when the negative content was displayed in 3D stereo in comparison with the positive content. The practical implications of the results are further discussed.

  • 3D 입체영상은 영화관에서 시작되어 최근에는 방송, 게임, 테마파크에 이르기 까지 널리 확산되고 있다. 하지만 3D 입체영상에 대한 응용기술의 발전은 입체영상에 쉽게 접근하게 하였음에도 불구하고 3D 입체영상을 시청하는 사용자에 대한 근본적인 연구가 미흡한 실정이다. 이러한 문제로 인하여 3D 입체영상을 접한 대부분의 시청자들이 안구통증, 어지러움 증을 호소하지만 이에 대한 근본적인 대책을 제시하지 못하는 것이 현실이다. 따라서 이러한 입체피로를 해결하기 위한 3D Sweetenig을 다양한 연구방법으로 진행되고 있고, 그 중 4D 체감형 콘텐츠에 대한 감성연구실험 절차를 소개하고자 한다.

  • There is little study related to the 3D convergence contents authoring tool for teacher. In this study, we purposed the design of the interactive 3D convergence contents authoring tool for a teacher. To draw the design, firstly, we investigated the authoring environment of teachers and interviewed teachers. Based on this investigations, we proposed the functional requirement and UI/UX(User Interface/User Experience) design of it. And we investigated the level of focusing group satisfication with the UI/UX design. Based on these results, we will implement the authoring tool.
