  • This study explored the effects and the effectiveness of the new method of 3D FIESTA by making quantitative comparison with the conventional 3D FSE method which is frequently employed on patients with sudden hearing loss in clinical settings. For this study, 3D FSE images acquired with 3.0T MR scanner and T2-weighted axial plane 3D FIESTA images were respectively taken from 40 patients diagnosed with Sensorineural Hearing Loss (SSHL). When obtaining those images, sagittal reconstructions oriented perpendicular to the nerve were performed in order to get sagittal images of both right and left internal auditory canal. The findings showed that both SNR and CNR were higher among the group to whom the 3D FIESTA method was applied than the group to whom the conventional 3D FSE method was applied.

  • We applied 3-D balancing technique to estimate nationwide travel demand using travel behavior of Toll Collecting System data, socio-economic data in the region, and the data of several organizations connected with travel demand estimation. The results from this study were validated by the indices of RMSE(Root Mean Square Error), TLFD(Trip Length Frequency Distribution). TCS based inter-city average travel to measure of reliability and adequacy of estimated travel demand. Finally, 3-D technique seems to reflect more travel behavior of TCS OD than 2-D technique, but we cannot assert that 3-D technique superior to 2-D technique.

  • To protect wireless sensor networks (WSNs), various key distribution and management schemes have been proposed. However, most of them conducted simulations and experiments for performance evaluation by considering only the two-dimensional (2D) environments. In this paper, we investigate the effect of real-world three-dimensional (3D) topographic features on the key pre-distribution schemes for WSNs. For this purpose, we analyze and compare the performance of three pairwise key pre-distribution schemes in 2D and 3D environments: full pairwise (FP), random pairwise (RP), and full and random pairwise (FRP) schemes. For the experiments, we employ a network simulator NS-3 and 3D graphic tools such as Blender and Unity. As a result, we confirm that there was a difference in the performance of each scheme according to the actual 3D terrain and that the location-based FRP that considers deployment errors, has the highest efficiency in many aspects.

  • 기존 대부분의 방향관계에 대한 연구는 2차인 이미지에서 절대적인 방향에 대한 연구가 주를 이루고 있다. 본 논문에서는 기존 2차일 방향관계 모델링 기법을 분석하고 2D 스트링 기법을 확장해서 3차인 공간상에서 방향관계를 모델링하기 위할 3D 스트링 기법을 소개한다. 그리고 3차원 공간에서 시점 기반의 방향관계 실의를 처리하기 위한 기법으로 3차원 공간을 2차원+1차원으로 표현하여 처리하는 기법에 대해 기술판다.

  • 본 논문에서는 3D 점집합으로부터 3D 메쉬를 생성하는 효율적인 기법을 소개한다. 대표적인 3D 삼각화 방법으로 3D Delaunay 삼각화 기법이 있으나 물체의 표면만을 고려한 메쉬 생성을 위한 방법으로 비효율적인 측면이 있다. 본 논문에서는 적은 계산량으로 물체의 표면 메쉬를 생성하는 기법을 소개한다. 물체의 각 영역을 분할하고 각 영역에 대해서 2D Delaunay 삼각화를 적용하여 3D 메쉬 구조를 얻는다. 3차원 점 집합에 대해 OBB를 계산하고 이를 기준으로 점집합을 다양한 각도에서 자르고 각 부분 점집합에 대해서 2D Delaunay 삼각화를 실시한다. 절단하는 각도의 간격이나 폭은 원래의 3D 점집합에서의 가장 가까운 이웃점들까지의 평균 거리를 이용하여 결정하도록 하였다. 후처리 과정으로 삼각 분할과정에서 잘못된 에지의 연결을 제거함으로써 객체의 삼각 분할 결과를 향상시킨다. 제안된 메쉬 생성 기법은 다양한 영상 기반 모델링 응용에서 효과적으로 적용될 수 있다.

The Comparative Analysis Study and Usability Assessment of Fat Suppressed 3D FSPGR T1 Technique and Fat Suppressed Isotropic 3D FSE T1 Technique when Examining MRI of Patient with Triangular Fibrocartilage Complex (TFCC) Tear (삼각 섬유성 연골(TFCC) 손상 환자의 자기공명영상 검사 시 Fat Suppressed 3D FSPGR T1 강조 기법에 대한 Fat Suppressed Isotropic 3D FSE T1 강조 기법의 비교 분석 및 유용성에 관한 평가)

  • In this study, For assessment of triangular fibrocartilage complex (TFCC) injury, we acquired images by fat suppressed 3D fast spoiled gradient recalled T1 and fat suppressed Isotropic 3D fast spin echo T1 techniques. For quantitative evaluation, measured signal to noise ratio and contrast to noise ratio and verified statistical significance between two imaging techniques by Mann-Whitney U verification. And for qualitative evaluation, marked 4-grade scoring (0: non diagnostic, 1: poor, 2: adequate, 3: good) on shape of TFCC, artifacts by partial volumes, description of the lesions by two radiologist, verified coincidence between 2 observer using Kappa-value verification. We used 3.0 Tesla MR equipment and 8-channel RF coil for imaging acquisition. As quantitative evaluation results, signal to noise ratio and contrast to noise ratio value of Isotropic 3D fast spin echo T1 technique is higher in every image sections, also between two imaging techniques by Mann-Whitney U verification was statistically significant (p < 0.05). As qualitative results, observer 1, 2 marked a higher grade on Isotropic 3D FSE T1 technique, coincidence verification of evaluation results between two observers by Kappa-value verification was statistically significant (p < 0.05). As a result, during MRI examination on TFCC injury, fat suppressed Isotropic 3D fast spin echo T1 technique is considered offering more useful information about abnormal lesion of TFCC.

Evaluation of Articular Cartilage using 3D FFE-PROSET Technique in 3.0 T Knee MR Imaging : Comparison with 2D TSE - SPIR Technique (3.0T 무릎자기공명영상에서 3차원 FFE-PROSET 기법을 이용한 관절연골평가 : 2차원 TSE-SPIR 기법과 비교)

  • The purpose of this study is to know a clinical usefulness for delineation of articular cartilage compared with 2D TSE-SPIR and 3D FFE-PROSET technique. From January 2013 to september 2013, a total of 30 normal volunteers(12 men and 18 women aged between 35 and 55 years; mean 49.48 years) were studied on a philips 3.0T MRI scanner. As a quantitative analysis, SNRs and CNRs were evaluated by using two methods for delineation of articular cartilage. As a qualitative analysis, image quality was evaluated by special radiological technologist of MRI for image delineation on a three grade. As a results, SNRs and CNRs for articular cartilage were significantly greater for the 3D FFE-PROSET(SNRs: 8.40, 114.02, 9.53, CNRs: 104.49, 139.49) technique compared to 2D TSE-SPIR(SNRs: 4.41, 71.63, 7.34, CNRs: 64.30, 58.41) technique, image quality also was higher for evaluation of 3D FFE-PROSET(2.40) technique(p=0.0021). In conclusion, this study showed that a 3D FFE-PROSET MRI has improved SNRs and CNRs for evaluating of the articular cartilage, these conclusions in the future will be provided useful information in diagnosis of articular cartilage.

A Study on Sketch Input Technique by Surface of 3D Object. (3D 객체 표면에 근거한 Sketch 입력기법 연구)

  • 3D 가상공간을 협업에 효과적으로 이용하기 위해서는 3D 가상공간에서 빠르고 쉽게 의사를 표현할 수 있는 기술이 필요하다. 본 연구에서는 이런 효과적인 의사표현 방법으로 Sketch 기법을 제안한다. Sketch 기법은 간단한 2D 선들의 표현을 통해 매우 빠르게 아이디어를 표현 할 수 있으며, 의도에 따라 부분을 강조하거나 가감할 수 있기 때문에 좀 더 직관적으로 의도를 전달 할 수 있다. 그래서 이러한 Sketch 를 공간상에서 손쉽게 3D 모델의 표면이나 공간 위에 입력하고, 입력한 Sketch 를 3D 가상공간과 연동하여 보여 줌으로써 쉽게 3D 가상공간 안에 Sketch 로 의견을 표현 할 수 있게 하는 Sketch 기반 인터페이스를 연구 하였다. Sketch 기법을 3D 가상공간에 적용하기 위해서는 3D 가상공간 상에서 2D Sketch 를 입력하기 위한 방법과 입력 시 발생할 수 있는 위상차의 문제를 해결해야 한다. 이 연구에서는 2D Sketch 입력을 대상 3D 객체 중심에서 Sketch할 부분의 Sketch plain 을 선택 및 생성함으로써 입력하는 방법을 연구하였으며, 입력 시 발생하는 위상차는 View-point 및 View-Plain 의 이동 등을 통해 해결점을 찾고자 하였다. 그리고 추후 연구를 통해 Sketch 를 Annotation 으로 활용, 협업에서 필요로 하는 Sketch Annotation 으로 개발하고자 한다.

Representation Method of Viewpoint-based Directional Relationship for 3-Dimensional Graphic Databases (3차원 그래픽 데이타베이스를 위한 시점기반의 방향관계 표현 기법)

  • Spatial relations among objects we one of the most frequently used searching criteria for a query based on the contents of 3-D images. However, the existing researches have mainly focused only the absolute directional relations based on a fixed viewpoint in 2-D images. So, this paper presents a representation method of viewpoint based directional relations that enables spatial relations among objects to be retrieved based on a viewpoint of an observer. The retrieval technique based on our method is a]so described. In this paper, the notion of 3D string is defined to express the spatial relations in a 3-D space. A retrieval method based on relative directional relations among objects from a viewpoint of an observer is also presented. The proposed method simplifies the retrieval of viewpoint-based directional relations because 2D+1D scheme reduces the dimension.

Development of 3D Terrain Tools which Improves a Picking Speed using Cross Detection (교차검출을 이용하여 Picking 속도를 향상시킨 3D 지형 툴의 개발)

  • This paper proposes an efficient algorithm to develop a 3D terrain tools which is essential in the development of 3D computer games. In particular, this paper proposes a cross detection technique to improve picking speed. In other words, this paper proposes a more efficient cross detection technique consisting of a ray and a parallelogram than a cross detection technique consisting of a ray and a triangle. So, we can confirm the faster picking speed. This paper uses a picking example among DirectX SDK samples to test it. In addition, this paper compares the number of function calls for cross detection using the existing techniques and the proposed technique. As a result, in this paper the proposed technique has fallen off to about a 50 percent than the existing techniques. And if it is calculated by times, in this paper the proposed technique was reduced to 1 to 2 seconds than the existing techniques. Additionally, in this paper 3D terrain tools are provide more improved algorithms for features such as texture splatting, height map control, object arrangement and realistic water effect. So, 3D terrain tools is available efficient in the development of real 3d computer games.
