In recent years, research on user's activity recognition using a smart phone has attracted a lot of attentions. A smart phone has various sensors, such as camera, GPS, accelerometer, audio, etc. In addition, smart phones are carried by many people throughout the day. Therefore, we can collect log data from smart phone sensors. The log data can be used to analyze user activities. This paper proposes an approach to inferring a user's physical activities based on the tri-axis accelerometer of smart phone. We propose recognition method for four activity which is physical activity; sitting, standing, walking, running. We have to convert accelerometer raw data so that we can extract features to categorize activities. This paper introduces a recognition method that is able to high detection accuracy for physical activity modes. Using the method, we developed an application system to recognize the user's physical activity mode in real-time. As a result, we obtained accuracy of over 80%.

Notion sickness is well known to be caused by long time exposure to the very low frequency motion in the multiple axes of human body Since the vestibular system for the perception of low frequency motion is located in the head, accurate measurement of 6 degree of freedom head motion is of great importance. In this study, the measurement system consisting of a safety helmet and 9 translational accelerometers was constructed for the estimation of 3 translational and 3 rotational motions of human head. Since estimation errors of 3 rotational components can be significantly magnified even by small offset of the sensitivity axis from the geometric center of an accelerometer, accurate measurement of sensitivity axis must be preceded. The method for accurate estimation of the offset was proposed, and the effect of offset on the estimation of angular acceleration was investigated.

This paper proposes a real-time method using a 3-axis accelerometer to enhance blurred images taken from a camera loaded in mobile devices. Blurring phenomenon is a smoothing effect occurring in photo images. Algorithms to cope with blurring phenomenon is essential since small-size mobile devices tremble severely by even a tiny hand-shaking of a user. In this paper, accurate sensing characteristics of the 3-axis accelerometer is acquired by applying the sensor in pendulum motion and the blurring phenomenon is modeled as a uniform distribution and Gaussian distribution. Also, non-Gaussian distributed model is observed in the experiment of real blurring phenomenon and a particular deblurring function is designed by reversing the model. It has been demonstrated that the application of trembling information to the deblurring function adequately removes the blurring phenomenon.
The purpose of this study was to detect early children with hyperactivity which is one of the symptoms of Attention Deficit - Hyperactivity Disorder (:ADHD). For this Purpose, This study used two methods; K-CBCL and observation of children`s behavior. K-CBCL was done online by parents at home. For observation of children's behavior, the school asked children to wear a 3 - axis accelerometer on their wrists. The data from K - CBCL and 3 - axis accelerometer were analyzed and clustered to separate hypersensitive children from ordinary children.

Most Koreans walk having their toes in or out, because of their sedentary lifestyles. In addition, using smartphone while walking makes having a desirable walking posture even more difficult. The goal of this study is to make a simple system which easily analyze and inform any person his or her personal walking habit. To discriminate gait patterns, we developed a gait monitoring system using a 3-axis accelerometer and a foot pressure monitoring system. The developed system, with an accelerometer and a few pressure sensors, can acquire subject's foot pressure and how tilted his or her torso is. We analyzed the relationship between type of gate and sensor data using this information. As the result of analysis, we could find out that statistical parameters like standard deviation and root mean square are good for discriminating among torso postures, and k-nearest neighbor algorithm is good at clustering gait patterns. The developed system is expected to be applicable to medical or athletic fields at a low price.

Recently, inertial sensors are popularly used for the location and position recognition of small devices for M2M/IoT. In this paper, we designed low power, low noise, small sized 6-axis inertial sensor IC for mobile applications, which uses a 3-axis piezo-electric gyroscope sensor and a 3-axis piezo-resistive accelerometer sensor. Proposed IC is composed of 3-axis gyroscope readout circuit, two gyroscope sensor driving circuits, 3-axis accelerometer readout circuit, 16bit sigma-delta ADC, digital filter and control circuit and memory. TSMC $0.18{\mu}m$ mixed signal CMOS process was used. Proposed IC reduces 27% of the current consumption of LSM330.

This study focused on to design and toanalysis of a myoelectronic hand. We considered a low frequency factor in human life and to quantify low frequency which a human body responded to using a 1-axis ant a 3-axis accelerometer. The dynamic myoelectronic hand are important for tasks such a continuous prosthetic control and a EMG signal recognition, which have not been successfully mastered by the most neural approached To control myoelectronic hand, classifying myoelectronic patterns are also important. Experimental results of FEM are 110㎫ on Thumb, 200㎫ on Index finger, 220㎫ on Middle finger 260㎫ on Ring finger and 270㎫ on Little finger. Experimental results of accelerometer are 1.4-0.4(m/s2) ,(5-20(〔Hz〕) in Feeding activity and 0.4-0(m/s2) (0-10〔Hz〕) in Lifting activity. Considering these facts, we suggest a new type myoelectronic hand.

The aged are faced with increasing risk for falls. The aged have more fragile bones than others. When falls occur, it is important to detect this emergency state because such events often lead to more serious illness or even death. A implementation of PDA system, for detection of emergency situation, was developed using 3-axis accelerometer in this paper as follows. The signals were acquired from the 3-axis accelerometer, and then transmitted to the PDA through a Bluetooth module. This system can classify human activity, and also detect an emergency state like falls. When the fall occurs, the system generates the alarm on the PDA. If a subject does not respond to the alarm, the system determines whether the current situation is an emergency state or not, and then sends some information to the emergency center in the case of an urgent situation. Three different studies were conducted on 12 experimental subjects, with results indicating a good accuracy. The first study was performed to detect the posture change of human daily activity. The second study was performed to detect the correct direction of fall. The third study was conducted to check the classification of the daily physical activity. Each test lasted at least 1 min. in the third study. The output of the acceleration signal was compared and evaluated by changing various postures after attaching a 3-axis accelerometer module on the chest. The newly developed system has some important features such as portability, convenience and low cost. One of the main advantages of this system is that it is available at home healthcare environment. Another important feature lies in its low cost of manufacture. The implemented system can detect the fall accurately, so it will be widely used in emergency situations.

Purpose : The objective of this study is to effect of an aquatic rotation control and obstacle avoidance when conducted underwater on hemiplegia patient's balance ability and vestibular function. Methods : Twelve hemiplegia patients participated and were randomly assigned to a control group(I) with standard physical therapy and an aquatic group(II) with an aquatic rotation control, obstacle avoidance and standard physical therapy as well. The aquatic group trained using a Halliwick rotation control and obstacle avoidance through 3 times per week over 6 weeks. For all subjects, vestibular function, their balance, the change of electrooculogram (EOG), the change of accelerometer axis and torsiometer according to visual sense, vestibular sense with galvanic vestibular stimulation (GVS) or not during leg close stance were measured. Results : The EOG in the vertical and horizontal (p<0.05) were both significantly lowered. The change was significantly lower in the trajectory range of motion of trunk and spine with torsiometer when leg close stand (p<0.01) and leg close stand with GVS (p<0.01). The centre of gravity accelerated, there were reduced significantly difference X and Y axis of accelerometer during the closing of the leg without vision (p<0.05). There were reduced significantly difference X and Z axis of accelerometer during the closing of the leg with GVS (p<0.05). There were reduced significantly difference X and Z axis of accelerometer during the closing of the leg and close eyes with GVS (p<0.05). Conclusion : The balance ability, vestibular system and postural control is improved.
In this paper, we proposed the new bridge combination detection method for three dimensional piezoresistive silicon accelerometer, and the accelerometer with SOI structures was fabricated by bulk micromachining technology for using higher temperature than $200^{\circ}C$. The sensitivities of fabricated accelerometer for X, Y and Z-axis acceleration were about 8mV/V G, 8mV/V G and 40mV/V G. The nonlinearity of the output voltage was 1.6%FS and cross-axis sensitivity was within 4.6%. We confirmed that the three bridges detection method is very simple and the output characteristics of this accelerometer were similar to arithmetic circuit method accelerometer. The temperature characteristics of SOI structure accelerometer showed high operating temperature and good stability. And the temperature coefficient of offset voltage and sensitivity were $1033ppm^{\circ}C^{-1}$ and $1145ppm^{\circ}C$ respectively.
