  • A water shortage is one of the most important factors for development and management of water resources. For reliable water shortage measurement in a stream, Korea Water Resources Corporation(KOWACO) founded five foot Parshall flume at Yong-dam experimental watershed in 2000. The Parshall flume has a specially designed shape to facilitate flow measurements by eliminating sediment deposition problem that could lead to an incorrect measurement. In this study, computational fluid dynamics(CFD) model was used to analyze flow behavior of Parshall Flume under free discharge of five headwater level cases. The flow rates computed by CFD model are compared with those by ISO's formula, USBR's formula and stage-discharge rating curves. Flow rates computed by ISO's and USBR's formula are mostly same, but flow rate by CFD model is larger than empirical value by 9% and flow rate by stage-discharge rating curves is less than empirical value by 16%.

  • This paper proposes multi-camera system that relies on 3D views for panoramic video and distribution method about panoramic video generation algorithm by using cloud computing. The proposed monitoring system monitors the projected 3D model view, instead of individual 2D views, to detect image distortions. This can minimize compensation errors caused by parallax, thereby improving the quality of the resulting panoramic video. Panoramic video generation algorithm can be divided into registration part and compositing part. Therefore we propose off-loading method of these parts with cloud computing for panoramic video service.

  • This paper presents computations of the dynamic derivatives of three dimensional flight vehicle configurations using CFD. The pitch dynamic derivatives are computed from the pitch sinusoidal motion, while the roll damping is computed based on steady state calculation using a non-inertial frame method. The Basic Finner and the SDM(Standard Dynamic Model) are chosen for the benchmark tests against other numerical and experimental results. For the flow calculations, a 3-D Euler solver that can be run both on the non-inertial frame and on the inertial frame is developed. A dual-time stepping method is applied for the unsteady time accurate simulations. A good agreement of pitch-roll dynamic derivatives with previously published numerical results and the experimental results is observed.

  • Due to the long tectonic history and the very complex geologic formations in Korea, the anisotropic characteristics of subsurface material may often change very greatly and locally. The algorithms commonly used, however, may not give sufficiently precise computational results of traveltime data particularly for the complex and strong anisotropic model, since they are based on the two-dimensional (2D) earth and/or weak anisotropy assumptions. This study is intended to develope a three-dimensional (3D) modeling algorithm to precisely calculate the first arrival time in the complex anisotropic media. Considering the complex geology of Korea, we assume 3D TTI (tilted transversely isotropy) medium having the arbitrary symmetry axis. The algorithm includes the 2D non-linear interpolation scheme to calculate the traveltimes inside the grid and the 3D traveltime mapping to fill the 3D model with first arrival times. The weak anisotropy assumption, moreover, can be overcome through devising a numerical approach of the steepest descent method in the calculation of minimum traveltime, instead of using approximate solution. The performance of the algorithm developed in this study is demonstrated by the comparison of the analytic and numerical solutions for the homogeneous anisotropic earth as well as through the numerical experiment for the two layer model whose anisotropic properties are greatly different each other. We expect that the developed modeling algorithm can be used in the development of processing and inversion schemes of seismic data acquired in strongly anisotropic environment, such as migration, velocity analysis, cross-well tomography and so on.

  • Recently, Construction business is changing from on the ground to underground space because of deficit of developing space, creation of green space and of incremental of land compensation expenses. Meanwhile, 3D Topographic, Marine and Cadastral maps need to have Spatial Interrelation. Also, understanding of the information is also needed. Spatial information object registration system is impossible to contact and understanding intelligence mutually because the former one is managed as automatic ID system. Therefore, 3D Object information ID System of underground space is managed based on Object Identifier. Construction of Spatial information integration ID System is required and it will offer Division Code (Ground, Index, Underground) and depth information. We are defined and classified Under Spatial Information in this paper. Moreover, we developed the integration ID System based on UFID for cadastral information Construction. We supposed underground spatial information DB Construction and a developed the way of exploiting 3D cadastral information system through the study. The research result will be the base data of Standard ID system, DB Construction and system Development of National spatial data which is considered together with spatial interrelation.

  • Bi-directional pile load test (briefly called 'BDH PLT') cannot be performed at loading levels where ultimate bearing capacity could be assessed in field, it is not possible to precisely determine both ultimate load and yield load and under loading. Since the load is transmitted separately to the skin and the end unlike the static pile load test (briefly called 'SPLT') and the direction of loading on the skin is opposite, such methods could have a result different from actual movements of shafts. In this study, three-dimensional finite element method (briefly called '3D FEM') analysis was conducted from results of the BDH PLT, made with barret piles, which were large-diameter cast-in-place concrete piles, and the calculated design constants were applied to the 3D FEM analysis of the SPLT to interpret them numerically and then, actual behaviors of cast-in-place concrete piles were estimated. First, using the results of the BDH PLT with cast-in-place concrete piles, behaviors of the piles made by loading upwards and downwards were analyzed to calculate load-displacement. Second, the design constants, calculated by the 3D FEM analysis and the back analysis, were applied on the 3D FEM analysis for the SPLT, and from these results, behaviors of the SPLT through the BDH PLT was analyzed. Last, the results of the 3D FEM analysis of the SPLT through the BDH PLT was expressed in relationships as {A ratio of bearing capacity of the SPLT and of the BDH PLT (y)} ~ {A ratio of reference displacement and pile circumference (x)}, and they were all classified by reference displacement at 10.0 mm, 15.0 mm, and 25.4 mm.

  • This study aims to design a tunnel part model for underpass and subway lines that correspond to tunnel sector among the underground facilities(structure types) covered in the integrated map of underground spaces. For this purpose, we compared and reviewed the characteristics of international standards related to tunnel data models. As a result, it was found that CityGML 3.0 - Tunnel module was the most suitable for designing a 3D tunnel data model. Afterwards we reviewed the legal and institutional regulations to derive the standard elements of the 3D tunnel data model. Then we conducted a demand survey targeting experts in related fields to derive standard elements for addition and extension of underpasses and subway lines. Based on the above process, we designed and presented a 3D tunnel data model using UML. This study is expected to be meaningful as a basic study to improve the utilization of tunnel model in the integrated map of underground spaces.

  • To clarify the relationship between groundwater flow tate and statistical distribution of fractures in Youngchun waterway tunnel, the fracture characteristics and fractal dimensions of groundwater flow section were evaluated. The flow rate of 84,465m$^3$/day was identified in fault, accounting for about 70 percent of the total How rate. The flow rate of 36,525m$^3$/day was identified in joint, accounting for about 30 percent of the total flow rate. The flow late in the NATM section of sedimentary rocks increased with the fractal dimensions. The fractal dimensions determined in fault or fracture zones show more positive relation with the flow rate than those in joint developed zones.

  • This paper proposes a dynamic human pose tracking method using motion-based search strategy from an image sequence obtained from a monocular camera. The proposed method compares the image features between 3D human model projections and real input images. The method repeats the process until predefined criteria and then estimates 3D human pose that generates the best match. When searching for the best matching configuration with respect to the input image, the search region is determined from the estimated 2D image motion and then search is performed randomly for the body configuration conducted within that search region. As the 2D image motion is highly constrained, this significantly reduces the dimensionality of the feasible space. This strategy have two advantages: the motion estimation leads to an efficient allocation of the search space, and the pose estimation method is adaptive to various kinds of motion.
