3D Facial Modeling and Synthesis System for Realistic Facial Expression (자연스러운 표정 합성을 위한 3차원 얼굴 모델링 및 합성 시스템)

  • Realistic facial animation research field which communicates with human and computer using face has increased recently. The human face is the part of the body we use to recognize individuals and the important communication channel that understand the inner states like emotion. To provide the intelligent interface. computer facial animation looks like human in talking and expressing himself. Facial modeling and animation research is focused on realistic facial animation recently. In this article, we suggest the method of facial modeling and animation for realistic facial synthesis. We can make a 3D facial model for arbitrary face by using generic facial model. For more correct and real face, we make the Korean Generic Facial Model. We can also manipulate facial synthesis based on the physical characteristics of real facial muscle and skin. Many application will be developed such as teleconferencing, education, movies etc.

  • The 3D mesh model is used in various fields, such as virtual reality, shape-based searching, 3D simulation, reverse engineering, 3D printing, and laser scanning. There are various formats for the 3D mesh model, but STL and OBJ are the most typical. Since application systems support different 3D mesh formats, developing technology for converting 3D mesh models from one format into another is necessary to ensure data interoperability among systems. In this paper, we propose a method to convert a 3D mesh model in STL format into the OBJ format. We performed the basic design of the conversion system and developed a prototype, then verified the proposed method by experimentally converting an STL file into an OBJ file for test cases using this prototype.

  • This paper proposes an efficient method for the automatic generation of personalized 3D face model from color image sequence. To detect a robust facial region in a complex background, moving color detection technique based on he facial color distribution has been suggested. Color distribution and edge position information in the detected face region are used to extract the exact 31 facial feature points of the facial description parameter(FDP) proposed by MPEG-4 SNHC(Synthetic-Natural Hybrid Coding) adhoc group. Extracted feature points are then applied to the corresponding vertex points of the 3D generic face model composed of 1038 triangular mesh points. The personalized 3D face model can be generated automatically in less then 2 seconds on Pentium PC.

  • This paper presents the representation and its shape analysis of face by features based on surface curvature estimation and proposed rotation vector of the human face. Curvature-based surface features are well suited to use for experimenting the 3D human face segmentation. Human surfaces are exactly extracted and computed with parameters and rotated by using active surface mesh model. The estimated features were tested and segmented by reconstructing surfaces from the face surface and analytically computing Gaussian (K) and mean (H) curvatures without threshold.

  • This paper provides a framework for information assurance within collaborative design, based on a technique we call role-based viewing. Such role-based viewing is achieved through integration of multi-resolution geometry and security models. 3D models are geometrically partitioned, and the partitioning is used to create multi-resolution mesh hierarchies. Extracting a model suitable for access rights for individual designers within a collaborative design environment Is driven by an elaborate access control mechanism.

  • In this paper, a 3D mechanical model based on pulmonary nodule segmentation method is proposed. The proposed method has three main parts. First, an initial 3D mechanical model is generated. The model is made up of many triangle elements resulting in forming whole shape of the model as sphere. Second, points of the model are deformed, and finally internal and external energies according to each deformation are calculated. The internal energy is determined by the model shape, and the external energy is determined by intensity. After the model is deformed, the process of searching the minimum energy generated by the deformation is executed repetitively. If the model energy converges, the nodule is segmented by using the proposed model. The proposed method greatly improves the result compared with conventional methods.

  • Product modeling technology for graphics is rapidly developing. And 3D data application and usability are increasing.modeling of product design is a very important factor in constructing. 3D modeling in product design takes a lot of production time. Recently, the reverse design method is very useful because of application of 3D data and shortening of production time. In this study, first, 3D point cloud and mesh data are generated using photographs based on image data. The second is to modify the design and the third is to make the prototype with the 3D printer. This product design and production process suggests the utilization and possibility of image data, the shortening of 3D modeling production time and efficient processes. Also, the product design process proposes a model of a new product development system to adapt to the production environment.

  • 컴퓨터 가상현실 기술은 반복적인 교육과 훈련을 필요로 하는 의료 시뮬레이션 분야에 도입되어 시술 훈련, 수술 계획 및 수술 시뮬레이션 등의 영역에 응용되고 있다. 3차원적 가시화나 네비게이션에 치중하던 기존의 의료 시뮬레이션에 보다 현실감을 증진시키기 위해서는 인체 해부학적 기관의 변형성과 사용자와 대상 기관 사이의 물리적인 상호작용이 반영되어야 한다. 본 연구에서는 기존의 2차원 및 3차원 마우스만을 사용하던 상호작용 환경을 개선하여 시술 동작시 물리적인 역감을 전달받을 수 있는 햅틱 인터페이스를 도입하고. 보다 현실감 있는 시각적 디스플레이를 위해 햅틱 워크벤치를 사용하였다. 사용자의 햅틱 인터페이스 조작에 따른 가상 인체 기관의 물리적 변형 및 이에 따른 물리적 역감은 삼각메쉬를 이용한 매스-스프링 모델을 사용하여 구현하였고. 가상 시술 도구와 가상 인체 기관와의 빠른 충들 감지를 위해서는 OBBTree를 적용하였다.

  • Integrating a 3D solid modeler with a general purpose FEM code, an automatic stress intensity factor analysis system of the 3D crack problems has been developed. A geometry model, i.e. a solid containing one or several 3D cracks is defined. Several distributions of local node density are chosen, and then automatically superposed on one another over the geometry model by using the fuzzy knowledge processing. Nodes are generated and quadratic tetrahedral solid elements are generated by the Delaunay triangulation techniques. Finally, the complete finite element(FE) model generated, and a stress analysis is performed. This paper describes the methodologies to realize such functions, and demonstrates the validity of the present system.

  • 본 논문에서는 얼굴 영상으로부터 워터쉐드 변환을 이용하여 3차원 얼굴 모델을 구성하는 방법을 제안한다. 워터쉐드 변환으로 분할된 각각의 영역으로부터 얼굴의 특징점들을 추출하고 MPEG-4에서 정의해놓은 FDP(Facial Definition Parameter)를 기반으로 얼굴 메쉬모델을 생성한다. 워터쉐드 변환시 발생하는 영역 기반의 과분할 결과에서 얻어지는 정확한 정보와 MPEG-4의 FDP를 기반으로 한 Candide Model을 이용함으로써 매우 간편하게 3D 얼굴 모델을 생성할 수 있고 영상 압축 및 전송에 매우 효율적으로 이용될 수 있다.
