  • 3-D virtual city model is becoming increasingly important for a number of GIS applications. For reconstruction of 3D building in urban area aerial images, satellite images, LIDAR data have been used mainly and most of researches related to 3-D reconstruction focus on development of method for extraction of building height and reconstruction of building. In case of automatically extracting and reconstructing of building height using only aerial images or satellite images, there are a lot of problems, such as mismatching that result from a geometric distortion of optical images. Therefore, researches of integrating optical images and existing digital map (1/1,000) has been in progress. In this paper, we focused on extracting of building height by means of interest points and vertical line locus method for reducing matching points. Also we used digital plotter in order to validate for the results in this study using aerial images (1/5,000) and existing digital map (1/1,000).

  • Realistic 3D building construction in urban area has become an important issue because of increasing demand of 3D geo-spatial information in many application. Contrary to the conventional 3D building model construction approach using aerial images and high-resolution satellite imagery, it has been researched widely in building reconstruction using high-accuracy aerial LIDAR data in the latest. This paper presents a method for 3D building construction through building outlines extraction by LoG operator's Zero-crossing and line generation and refinement by Douglas-Peucker algorithm.

  • 3D Spatial Data, namely 3D Urban CG model express the building, road, river in virtual world and accumulate, manage the data in the GIS system. It is important infrastructure which expected in many usages. Recently 3D CG urban model needs much manual effort, time and costs to build them. In this paper, we introduce the integration of GIS, CG and automatic production of the $\lceil$3D Spatial Data Infrastructure$\rfloor$. This system make filtering, divide the polygon, generate the outlines of the GIS building map, design the graphic and property information and finally make automatic 3D CG models.

  • This paper presents photogrammetric processing to generate digital elevation models using SPOT-5 HRG stereo images and deals with the accuracy potential of HRG (High Resolution Geometry) supermode imagery for DEM generation. After bundle adjustment was preformed for sensor modelling, digital surface models were generated through the procedures of Epipolar image resampling and image matching. The DEM extracted from HRG imagery was compared along several test sections with the the refernce DEM which was obtained from the digital topographic maps of a scale of 1 to 5000. The ratio of the zone with DEM errors less than 5m to the whole zone was 53.8%, and about 2.5m RMSE was showed when assuming that the zones larger than 5m were affected by clouds, water bodies and buildings and excluding those zones from accuracy evaluation. In addition, the three-dimensional bird's eye view model and 3D building model were producted based on the DSM which was extracted from SPOT-5 HRG data.

  • In the current construction planning and designing process, an architectural miniature model was designed to verify the interior or exterior spatial sense of a building structure, but building of the miniature model is demand much more effort and time; in addition to this it has limitation to identify interior information of the building. For a complement of it, CAD would be used in the existing planning and designing process to visualize the building information, but its visualization is not satisfactory for the 3D volume which could be easily verified with the miniature model. CAD is the specific software for designing building structures and the 3D results are usually rendered on 2D monitor screen. Therefore, there is a shortage of cognitive immersion for the 3D space. In this paper, we introduce the conversion process of BIM shape data into the Augmented Reality contents by using a series of softwares. As a result of modification on construction plan or design we reduced the cost and time to reconstruct the final visualization. We have shown that the interior or exterior information of the building structures are easily visualized with BIM shape data on augmented reality environment. Several proposed interaction methods, such as rem oval of building components, and slice-cut operation, provide the user for the effective manipulation of models on the augmented reality environment.

  • Since large portal service providers started web services for 3D city models around the world using spatial imagery, the competition has been getting intense to provide the models with the higher quality and accuracy. The building models are the most in number among the 3D city model objects, and it takes much time and money to create realistic model due to various shapes and visual appearances of building object. The aforementioned problem is the most significant limitation for the service and the update of the 3D city model of the large area. This study proposed a method of generating realistic 3D building models with quick and economical texture mapping using multiple spatial imagery such as aerial photos or satellite images after reconstructed geometric models of buildings from building layers in digital maps. Based on the experimental results, the suggested method has effectiveness for the generation of the 3D building models using various air-borne imagery and satellite imagery quickly and economically.

  • In densely urban areas, features such as the sewer system, buildings and river banks have an effect on flow dynamics and flood propagation, and will therefore be accounted for in the model set-up. While two-dimensional (2D) flood models of urban areas are at the forefront of current research into flood inundation mechanisms, they are however constrained by inadequate parameters of topography, and insufficient and inaccurate data. In this study, an urban flood model (overland flow, 2D urban flood flow and sewer flow) was combined and applied at Samcheok city which was damaged by inundation in 2002, in order to simulate inundation depth. The influence of buildings and pumping capacity was also analyzed to estimate the inundated depth in the study area. As a result, it was found that urban inundated depth are affected by pumping capacity directly and it increased about 20-30 cm on most of the modeled area with a building share rate of 0.2-0.6 per unit grid.
