  • Crashworthiness design and certification have been and will continue to be the main concern in aviation safety. The effects of roll angles on fuselage section crashworthiness for typical civil transport category aircrafts were investigated. A fuselage section with waved-plates under cargo floor is suggested, and the finite element model of fuselage section is developed to simulate drop test subjected to 7 m/s impact velocity under conditions of 0-deg, 5-deg, 10-deg and 15-deg roll angles, respectively. A comparative analysis of failure modes, acceleration responses, and energy absorption of fuselage section under various conditions are given. The results show that the change of roll angles will significantly affect fuselage deformation, seat peak overloads, and energy absorption. The crashworthiness capability of aircraft can be effectively improved by choosing appropriate landing way.

  • This thesis is to improve the mechanical properties of carbon steel by the ion-nitriding, and post-heat treatment. The structures of ion-nitrided SM45C steel were changed to martensite by quenching from 730.deg. C and 800.deg. C. And then a few of the quenched specimens was tempered at 200.deg. C for 120 min. The emphasis in this study is focussed on Comparison of hardness and fatigue strength with the ion-nitrided steel. The results obtained are summerized as follows. 1. To improve the hardness and fatigue strength of ion-nitrided steels, it is effective to under take diffusion treatment for a short time at the austenite temperature(800.deg. C). 2. If ion-nitrided steel is heated for a long time at high temperature, de-nitriding occure. 3. The quenching treatment after nitriding on the carbon steel is necessary to improve the mechanical properties of the steels.

  • Sintered CdS/CdTe solar cells have been farbricated by coating a (Cd+Te) slurry on sintered CdS films followed by the sintering at 625.deg.C for one hour with various heating rates. When cadmium and tellurinm powders are used instead of CdTe powder to form CdS/CdTe junction, CdTe is formed in the temperature range of 290.deg.C-400.deg.C. The microstructure of the CdTe films depends strongly on the heating rate of the sintering due to the low melting temperature and the high vapor pressure of the elemental Cd and Te. An optimum heating rate obtain CdTe films with uniform and dense microstructure which, in turn, improves the efficiency of the sintered CdS/CdTe solar cells. All-polycrystalline CdS/CdTe solar cells with an efficiency of 9.57% under 50mW/cm$^{2}$ tungsten light have been farbricated by using a heating rate of 14.deg.C/min.

  • In this paper, the (S $r_{0.85}$.C $a_{0.15}$)Ti $O_{3}$ of paraelectric grain boundary layer (GBL) ceramics were fabricated, and the analysis of microstructuye and the thermally stimulated current(TSC) were investigated for understanding effects of GBL's interfacial phenomenon on variations of electrical properties. As a result, the three peaks of .alpha., .alpha. and .betha. were obtained at the temperature of -20 [.deg. C], 20[.deg. C] and 80[.deg. C], respectively. The origins of these peaks are that the .alpha. peak observed at -20[.deg. C] looks like to be ascribed to the ionization excitation from donor level in the grain, and the .alpha.' peak observed at 20[.deg. C] appears to show up by detrap of the trapped carrier of border between the oxidation layer and the grain, and the .betha. peak observed at 80[.deg. C] seems to be resulted from hopping conduction of existing carrier in the trap site of the border between the oxidation and second phase. and second phase.

  • The purpose of this study is to provide training materials for practical use by investigating the kinematical variables of the successful landing by the type of the salto backward such as Tuck, Pike. For this study, the subjects are 4 male national gymnasts using 3-dimensional cinematographic method. Based on the results of this study, the conclusions are drawn as follows. 1. In flight phase, Tuck and Pike show fast extension after completing minimum angle of hip joint passing through the peak. It is very important factor to control body with gaining time before landing while decreasing the velocity of flight rotaion. 2. In Landing phase, the angles of each joint for successful landing are shown as $92deg{\sim}100deg$ for knee angle, $52deg{\sim}57deg$ for hip angle, and $56deg{\sim}70deg$ for shoulder angle. 3. Tuck and Pike dramatically decrease the height of COG, and horizontal/vertical velocity of COG from TD to LD. Also, it is shown that the knee angle, the hip angle and the shoulder angle decrease drastically. On the other hand, the angular velocity of trunk rotation shows negative direction and due to this, the angle of trunk rotation is shown as re-flexion.

  • RuO$_{2}$ thin films are prepared by RF magnetron reactive sputtering and their characteristics of crystallization, microstructue, surface roughness and resistivity are studied with various O$_{2}$/(Ar+O$_{2}$) ratios and substrate temperatures. As O$_{2}$/(Ar+O$_{2}$) ratio decreas and substrate temperature increases, the preferred growing plane of RuO$_{2}$ thin films are changed from (110) to (101) plane. With increase of the O$_{2}$/(Ar+O$_{2}$) ratio from 20% to 50%, the surface roughness and the resistivity of RuO$_{2}$ thin films increase form 2.38nm to 7.81 nm, and from 103.6.mu..ohm.-cm to 227.mu..ohm.-cm, resepctively, but the deposition rate decreases from 47 nm/min to 17nm/min. On the other hand, as the substrate temperature increases form room temperature to 500.deg. C, resistivity decreases from 210.5.mu..ohm.-cm to 93.7.mu..ohm.-cm. RuO$_{2}$ thin film deposited at 300.deg. C shows a execellent surface roughness of 2.38nm. As the annealing temperature increases in the range between 400.deg. C and 650.deg. C, the resistivity decreases because of th improvement of crystallinity. We find that RuO$_{2}$ thin film deposited at 20% of O$_{2}$/(Ar+O$_{2}$) ratio and 300.deg. C of substrate temperature shows execellent combination of surface smoothness and low resistrivity so that it is well qualified for bottom electrodes for ferroelectric thin films.

  • This study investigated the compressive Young's modulus and the impactinduced damage of CFRP angle-ply laminate under same impact energy condition. The specimens of angle-ply laminate composites [0.deg.$_{6}$/ .theta..deg.$_{10}$/ 0.deg.$_{6}$] with .theta..deg. =30.deg., 45.deg., 60.deg. and 90.deg. were employed, and damaged by steel balls of diameter of 5mm and 10mm propelled by air gun type impact testing machine. The impact damaged zones were observed through a scanning acoustic microscope(SAM), and their cross-sections were observed through a scanning electron microscope(SEM). The compressive Young's moduli before and after impact were measured, and compared with the theoretical values calculated. The results obtained were as follows: (1) The damage areas on the interfacial boundaries showed more severe change on the back side interface than on the impact side interface with increasing ply-angle. (2) The damage areas on the interfacial boundaries became larger with increasing impact velocity or ply-angle. (3) The impact damaged zone showed the delamination on the interfacial boundaries and transverse cracks inside laminas. (4) The impact damaged zone was affected by the impactor size and speed or ply-angle under same impact energy condition. (5) Compressive Young's moduli before and after impact were lower than theoretical value, but showed a similar change according to ply-angle. (6) Compressive Young's moduli after impact were higher than those before impact, but there was no remarkable change in apparent compressive modulus after impact.t.act.

  • A wave instability problem is formulated for natural convection flows adjacent to a inclined isothermal surface in pure water near the density extremum. It accounts for the nonparallelism of the basic flow and temperature fields. Numerical solutions of the hydrodynamic stability equations constitute a two-point boundary value problem which are accurately solved using a computer code COLSYS. Neutral stability results for Prandtl number of 11.6 are obtained for various angles of inclination of a surface in the range from-10 to 30 deg. The neutral stability curves are systematically shifted toward modified Grashof number G=0 as one proceeds from downward-facing inclined plate(.gamma.<0.deg.) to upward-facing inclined plate (.gamma.>0.deg.). Namely, an increase in the positive angle of inclination always cause the flows to be significantly more unstable. The present results are compared with the results for the parallel flow model. The nonparallel flow model has, in general, a higher critical Grashof number than does the parallel flow model. But the neutral stability curves retain their characteristic shapes.

  • In this study, we have analyzed structural analysis and measured ferroelectric characteristics of PZT thin films prepared by sol gel process with different sintering conditions and different Zr/Ti mot%. When the Zr mot% of PZT thin film was increased, it was found that the remanent. polarization and coercive field were decreased and increased, respectively. Also, the maxium dielectric constant of PZT(50/50) thin film was 786.8. We got double hysteresis(anti-fcrroelectric) curve from PbZrO$_{3}$ thin film. As heating rate goes up, pyrochlore phase of PZT thin film was decreased and dielectric and ferroelectric characteristics were improved. As a result of variation of sintering temperature and time 500.deg. C-800.deg. C and 5 sec.-8 hours, respectively, we got optimal sintering temperature and time. The optimium sintering temperature and time of conventional furnace method and rapid thermal processing method were 650.deg. C-700.deg. C for 30-60 minutes and 700.deg. C/20 seconds-2 minutes, respectively.
