Virtual world is persistent 3D(2D) space through computers which supports real-time interaction. Children's virtual worlds are for children below 15. Its educational benefits are: practical experience, cooperation possibility, experience sharing, and optimized environment. Moreover, interesting factors from games can enhance the educational efficiency of virtual worlds. In order to intensify the educational efficiency, goal, motivation, relationship and advice has to be considered as well. Based upon those factors, the result of analysis of current virtual worlds shows that they have clear goal. contextualization of task and appropriate reinforcement. However, for future prosperity, continuous effort for expansion of readiness, social persuasion, scaffolding are needed.
This paper proposes a real-time simulation technique for thin shells undergoing large deformation. Shells are thin objects such as leaves and papers that can be abstracted as 2D structures. Development of a satisfactory physical model that runs in real-time but produces visually convincing animation of thin shells has been remaining a challenge in computer graphics. Rather than resorting to shell theory which involves the most complex formulations in continuum mechanics, we adopt the energy functions from the discrete shells proposed by Grinspun et al. For real-time integration of the governing equation, we develop a modal warping technique for shells. This new simulation framework results from making extensions to the original modal warping technique which was developed for the simulation of 3D solids. We report experimental results, which show that the proposed method runs in real-time even for large meshes, and that it can simulate large bending and/or twisting deformations with acceptable realism.

A three-dimensional image capturing device and its signal processing algorithm and apparatus are presented. Three dimensional information is one of emerging differentiators that provides consumers with more realistic and immersive experiences in user interface, game, 3D-virtual reality, and 3D display. It has the depth information of a scene together with conventional color image so that full-information of real life that human eyes experience can be captured, recorded and reproduced. 20 Mega-Hertz-switching high speed image shutter device for 3D image capturing and its application to system prototype are presented[1,2]. For 3D image capturing, the system utilizes Time-of-Flight (TOF) principle by means of 20MHz high-speed micro-optical image modulator, so called 'optical resonator'. The high speed image modulation is obtained using the electro-optic operation of the multi-layer stacked structure having diffractive mirrors and optical resonance cavity which maximizes the magnitude of optical modulation[3,4]. The optical resonator is specially designed and fabricated realizing low resistance-capacitance cell structures having small RC-time constant. The optical shutter is positioned in front of a standard high resolution CMOS image sensor and modulates the IR image reflected from the object to capture a depth image (Figure 1). Suggested novel optical resonator enables capturing of a full HD depth image with depth accuracy of mm-scale, which is the largest depth image resolution among the-state-of-the-arts, which have been limited up to VGA. The 3D camera prototype realizes color/depth concurrent sensing optical architecture to capture 14Mp color and full HD depth images, simultaneously (Figure 2,3). The resulting high definition color/depth image and its capturing device have crucial impact on 3D business eco-system in IT industry especially as 3D image sensing means in the fields of 3D camera, gesture recognition, user interface, and 3D display. This paper presents MEMS-based optical resonator design, fabrication, 3D camera system prototype and signal processing algorithms.
Graphics rendering pipeline (application, geometry, and rasterizer) is the core of real-time graphics which is the most important functionality for computer games. Usually this rendering process is completed by both the CPU and the GPU, and a bottleneck can be located either in the CPU or the GPU. This paper focuses on reducing the bottleneck between the CPU and the GPU. We are proposing a method for improving the performance of parallel processing for real-time graphics rendering by separating the CPU operations (usually performed using a thread) into two parts: pure CPU operations and operations related to the GPU, and let them operate in parallel. This allows for maximizing the parallelism in processing the communication between the CPU and the GPU. Some experiments lead us to confirm that our method proposed in this paper can allow for faster graphics rendering. In addition to our method of using a dedicated thread for GPU related operations, we are also proposing an algorithm for balancing the graphics pipeline using the idle time due to the bottleneck. We have implemented the two methods proposed in this paper in our networked 3D game engine and verified that our methods are effective in real systems.
3D character animation grow rapidly with the development of computer graphic technology and software. Nowadays 3D character animation holds a important position in the various industry fields including movie, advertisement, animation, and game. With the rapid growth of computer graphic, real time animation of complex characters as well as high quality rendering, which was impossible before, are now prevailing. What is remarkable in this growth is the appearance of virtual idol. The virtual idol plays a leading role in 3D character animation and has a synergy effect in the field of fancy and theme park industry. The aim of this inquiry is to examine the status of computer graphic skill and media related to the 3D character animation to search out the problems in the fields and to propose the solution of the problems
As the cyberspace several decades ago created a cyber fiction fever, the augmented reality as the future of imagination can generate another kind of literary genre and new social ambiance where books tend to come to life more realistically. This newly created "smart fiction," "smart movies," and "smart environment" will be full of fun, hopes and conveniences. But addiction to smart kinds will create unwanted dangerous plethora like ghost-like avatars, wild animals and Farid due to the limitations of human control over hi-technology. If so, the adventures we plan to take will turn fantasy into horror in no time. Instead of loving new scientific things blindly, the emphasis hereafter must be put rather on the potentially negative aftermaths of the new innovative technology. Some viewers after watching the film Avatar are still suffering from the syndrome called "avatar blues," a homesick for Pandora. After their experiencing of the experimental 3D effects in books and media, audience and readers are required to actively deal with the increased lack of the darker cave which the comparatively unsatisfactory present can never fill with fixity and limit. Like the prevention against the addictive online game or the manual of 3D television or 3D printer, the extreme off-limits and safety zone for this virtually and expendably subverting technology must be seriously reviewed by community before using and adopting it. Also, these technologically expanded and augmented environments must be prudently criticized by the in-depth study of literature just as cyber space begun by Gibson's cyber fiction and its criticism.

Networked Virtual Reality systems provide a consistent virtual world to the users, possibly ditributed across long distance, and have been widely applied in the military war game, network game. edutainment, architectural areas, and shopping mall etc. Large processing requirements. however. made these systems be mainly researched on the platforms of high-performence system graphics workstations. This study paper Presents several problems when networked virtual reality systems are implemented on commodity Internet : two problems related with 3D graphical Processing, and the other related with network bandwidth and transmission delay. We also suggest solutions to these problems and analyze their performance effect based on an architectural simulation application.
Let $X_1$, $X_2$, $\cdots$ be identically distributed negatively associated random variables with $EX_1\;=\;0$ and $E|X_1|^3$ < $\infty$. In this paper we prove $lim_{{\epsilon\downarrow}0}\;\frac{1}{-\log\;\epsilon}\sum\limits_{n=1}^\infty\frac{1}{n^2}ES_n^2I\{|S_n|\;{\geq}\;{\sigma\epsilon}n\}\;=\;2$ and $lim_{\epsilon\downarrow0}\;\epsilon^{2-p}\sum\limits_{n=1}^\infty\frac{1}{n^p}$$E|S_n|^pI\{|S_n|\;{\geq}\;{\sigma\epsilon}n\}\;=\;\frac{2}{2-p}$ for 0 < p < 2, where $S_n\;=\;\sum\limits_{i=1}^{n}X_i$ and 0 < $\sigma^2\;=\;EX_1^2\;+\;\sum\limits_{i=2}^{\infty}Cov(X_1,\;X_i)$ < $\infty$. We consider some results of i.i.d. random variables obtained by Liu and Lin(2006) under negative association assumption.

This paper measures and compares the traffic of a series of Massively Multiplayer On-line Role Playing Games(MMORPG). The target games are 'Lineage' and 'Lineage II' developed by NCsoft, which are ones of the world's largest MMORPGs in terms of the number of concurrent users. We collected about 1 tera bytes of packets of 'Lineage II' for four days including a weekend. These packets are analyzed and compared with those of 'Lineage.' Packet size, packet inter-arrival time, and bandwidth usage are compared. The traffic of the two games shows much difference because original 'Lineage' is a kind of 2-D based MMORPG, while 'Lineage II' is 3-D based. By comparing the characteristics of the traffic of these games, we can anticipate future needs of network and game structure.
