  • In this paper, we propose the delta-shaped interpolation method for displaying multi-source video signals on a-Si TFT LCD Panel. The proposed method can be implemented by using less circuits than the conventional methods. Thus it can be applied to the FPD(Flat Panel Display) system without any cost increase such as field memory cost. In order to compare the picture quality of the proposed method with that of the conventional methods, the computer simulation has been executed by checking PSNR, which is especially focused on the edge characteristics. The simulation results show that the proposed method is better than others from the point of view on the edge and local characteristics of the image. Finally, the characteristics and trade-off of the proposed method are discussed.

Reduced Inter-view PSNR variance Rate-control Algorithm for Multi-View Video coding (다시점 비디오 영상 부호화기를 위한 시점 간 PSNR 분산 감소 비트율 제어 알고리즘)

  • 다시점 영상 비디오를 부호화하기 위해 다시점 영상 부호화기(MVC)가 제안되었다. MVC가 다시점 영상 비디오를 효율적으로 압축함에도 불구하고 여전히 제한된 대역폭의 채널을 통해 다시점 영상을 전송하기에는 한계가 있다. 따라서 제한된 대역폭을 효과적으로 활용할 수 있도록 효율적인 비트율 제어 알고리즘이 요구된다. 2D 영상 부호화를 위한 비트율 제어 알고리즘은 활발한 연구가 이루어졌지만 다시점 영상 부호화를 위한 비트율 제어 알고리즘은 아직 충분히 연구되어지지 않았다. 본 논문에서는 시점 간 화질 분산과 계층적 B 픽처 구조를 고려한, 다시점 영상 부호화를 위한 비트율 제어 알고리즘을 제안한다. 제안된 알고리즘은 부호화 전 단계, 시점 레벨 비트율 제어, GOP 레벨 비트율 제어, 픽처 레벨 비트율 제어의 네 단계로 이루어진다. 부호화 전 단계에서 시점 간 비트율의 비중과 계층 레벨 간의 비중을 계산한다. 그리고 시점의 목표 비트율, GOP의 목표 비트율, 픽처의 목표 비트율이 각각 시점 레벨 비트율 제어단계, GOP 레벨 비트율 제어단계, 픽처 레벨 비트율 제어 단계에서 계산된다. 실험 결과는 제안된 방식이 시점 간 화질(PSNR)의 분산을 줄이면서 비트율을 제어하는데 효과적이라는 것을 보여준다.

Gastric Adenocarcinoma with Thymic Metastasis after Curative Resection: A Case Report

  • The peritoneum is the most frequent site of recurrence for gastric cancer after gastrectomy, followed by the liver and lymph nodes. In contrast, metastasis to the thymus is rare. Annual surveillance with computed tomography was performed on a 67-year-old man who previously underwent a distal gastrectomy and D2 lymph node dissection for gastric cancer at Tottori University. Five years after the initial operation, an anterior mediastinal tumor was detected by computed tomography. The patient underwent video-assisted thoracic surgery to remove the tumor. Histopathology revealed adenocarcinoma cells similar to those of the gastric cancer resected 5 years previously. Thymic metastasis was considered likely based on the location of the tumor. The recognition that gastric cancer can metastasize to unusual anatomic locations, such as the thymus, can facilitate an accurate, prompt diagnosis and appropriate treatment.

Effects of a Newborn Care Education Program on Newborn Care Confidence and Behavioral Accuracy of Primiparas in a Postpartum Care Center (신생아 돌보기 교육프로그램이 산후조리원 이용 초산모의 양육자신감과 양육행위 정확도에 미치는 효과)

  • Purpose: The study aimed to identify the effects of a newborn care education program on newborn care confidence and behavioral accuracy of primiparas in a postpartum care center. Method: This was a quasi-experimental study with a non-equivalent control group non-synchronized design. Subjects were 29 primiparas selected from a postpartum care center in D and P hospitals in Ulsan. The intervention was a newborn care education program which was composed of education with a booklet, demonstration, watching a video, and verbal encouragement. The outcome variables were newborn care confidence and behavioral accuracy. Data was collected from Feb. 1 to Mar 22 in 2005 with self-administered questionnaires and observation by researchers. Data was analyzed using the $X^2-test$, Fisher's exact test, t-test and ANCOVA. Result: The experimental group showed significantly higher score changes between the pre-test and post-test in confidence and behavioral accuracy than the control group. Conclusion: The newborn care education program showed positive effects on newborn care confidence and behavioral accuracy of primiparas in a postpartum care center. Therefore, we recommend that this program should be applied in postpartum care centers.

Visual Object Tracking Fusing CNN and Color Histogram based Tracker and Depth Estimation for Automatic Immersive Audio Mixing

  • We propose a robust visual object tracking algorithm fusing a convolutional neural network tracker trained offline from a large number of video repositories and a color histogram based tracker to track objects for mixing immersive audio. Our algorithm addresses the problem of occlusion and large movements of the CNN based GOTURN generic object tracker. The key idea is the offline training of a binary classifier with the color histogram similarity values estimated via both trackers used in this method to opt appropriate tracker for target tracking and update both trackers with the predicted bounding box position of the target to continue tracking. Furthermore, a histogram similarity constraint is applied before updating the trackers to maximize the tracking accuracy. Finally, we compute the depth(z) of the target object by one of the prominent unsupervised monocular depth estimation algorithms to ensure the necessary 3D position of the tracked object to mix the immersive audio into that object. Our proposed algorithm demonstrates about 2% improved accuracy over the outperforming GOTURN algorithm in the existing VOT2014 tracking benchmark. Additionally, our tracker also works well to track multiple objects utilizing the concept of single object tracker but no demonstrations on any MOT benchmark.

Kinematic Characteristics according to Types of Putter Head on Pro Golfer's 4 Meter Putts (프로골퍼의 4m 퍼팅시 퍼터 헤드형태에 따른 운동학적 특성)

  • The objective of this study is to help golfers to select adequate putters and to provide golfers basic scientific data for improving athletic performance by showing differences of kinematic variables according to the shape of putter head. In this research three right-handed male pro-golfer who are listed at KPGA were studied and three video camera (GR-HD1KR, JVC, Japan) were used and recording speed was 60 frame/sec during the research. In this study kinematic variables were calculated using Kwon3D XP program and analysed on the 4 events and 3 phases. This study showed the following results : (1) The swing of heel-toe putter showed longer time than that of face balanced putter, and there are statistical significant difference of kinematic variables of each objective (2) As of the trajectory of putter head, heel-toe putter showed more approximating curve trajectory than that of in-between, face balanced putter on the X-axis (3) heel-toe putter showed longer distance follow-through than that of other putters by statistically significant difference on the Y-axis (4) Heel-toe putter showed longer distance swing trajectory over the ground than that of other putters by statistically significant difference on the Z-axis.

A Study on the Dual Video Watermarking for Authentication and Signature using DC/AC Components of Block Layer (블록계층의 DC/AC 성분을 이용한 인증과 서명의 이중 비디오 워터마킹에 관한 연구)

  • 본 논문에서는 디지털 비디오 인코딩 과정의 VLC(variable length coding) 영역에서 블록계층의 DC/AC 성분을 이용한 인증과 서명의 이중 비디오 워터마킹 시스템을 제안하였다. 제안한 기법은 블록계층의 DC 성분과 AC 성분에서 HVS(human visual system)의 특성을 고려한 것이다. 인증 워터마킹은 주요한 정보를 포함하는 저주파 영역과 윤곽선 정보를 포함하는 중간 주파수 영역을 이용하여 인트라 프레임의 DC 성분과 움직임 벡터의 부호를 변형시켰고, 서명 워터마킹은 모든 프레임의 AC 성분들 중에서 마지막 AC 성분의 Level이 '1'인 경우에만 워터마크를 삽입하였다. 서명 워터 마크 검출은 저작권자의 비밀 키에 의해서만 가능하고, 기술적인 면에서 저자권자의 판별 기준이 될 수 있다. 제안한 이중 비디오 워터마킹 시스템의 특징은 인증과 서명의 두 가지 기능을 선택적으로 수행할 수 있으며, 계산과정이 복잡하지 않으면서 비트 스트림(bit-stream)을 유지시킨다. 그리고 실험 결과에서 기존의 방법보다 화질 면에서 $2{\sim}3dB$ 더 높은 수치를 얻어 우수함을 보였고, 인코딩 수행 속도에 미치는 영향은 거의 없었으며, 향후 실시간 인코딩 처리에 응용될 수 있다.

  • 동영상이나 게임에서 2차원적인 시야를 제공해주는 물건(컴퓨터,TV,스크린 등)이나 입체감을 주기위한 3D기술을 사용하여 보는 것에 만족하던 시대가 가고 VR(Virtual Reality)이 등장함으로 인해서 사람들이 점점 가상현실에 대한 환상을 가지고 있다. 본 연구에서는 많은 관심을 받는 VR과 동영상 Converter기술을 합쳐 공포 게임을 만들어 보며, 일반적인 공포 영상이 VR과 접목되면서 가져올 감정변화가 사람들의 관심을 끌 수 있음을 보이고자 한다.

  • Digital imaging technology has developed into a state-of-the-art IT convergence, composite industry beyond the limits of the multimedia industry, especially in the field of smart object recognition, face - Application developed various techniques have been actively studied in conjunction with the phone. In this paper, we first propose the necessary technical elements of the human factor technology trends and look at the human object recognition based spFACS (Smile Progress Facial Action Coding System) for detecting smiles study plan of the image recognition technology recognizes objects. Understanding of the Western Classical Singing in Medical Point of View (서양식 성악발성법의 의학적 이해)

  • Western classical singing voices are different from those of pop song singer's singing voices as well as traditional Korean singing such as Pansori. We anlalysed the singing voices from three different categories with using free application programs available at the usual smart phones : sound level meter and Spectral View Analyzer and fiberoptic rhinolaryngoscopic evaluation. The intensity of voice produced by a classical western singer was 11 dB louder than that produced by a pop song singer. Source sound, glottic sound, as well as harmonic sound and singing resonant sound (Singer's formant) are much more prominent. When evaluated under video-rhinolaryngoscopy during singing, the resonance cavity especially oropharyngeal cavity and hypopharyngeal cavity are widely opened during singing of the western classical singer than those of the traditional Korean singer's singing. Difference of singing methods including producing the glottal sound, respiration and resonance are discussed. Possible explanation of development of 'Singer's Formant' is discussed.
