The Experiment of the persistent current operation characteristics using Bi-2223 HTS coil (Bi-2223고온 초전도 코일의 영구전류 운전특성 실험)

  • In this paper, we fabricated a persistent current mode magnet using Bi-2223 HTS tapes. The coil system consists of double pancake magnet and a persistent current switch and jointed them with solder. Persistent current mode operation of the system was measured experimentally by the decay behavior of the current. We found that resistive component of the system including flux flow resistance lead the exponentially field decay with time.

  • Magnetization loss of a Bi-2223 tape in magnetic fields parallel to the tape surface was measured by a magnetization method. The results indicate that the magnetization loss is hysteretic because the measured loss agrees well with calculated one from a critical state model. In the full field penetration case the magnetization loss increases with the frequency but in the partial field penetration case the influence of the frequency is opposite.

  • The normal zone propagation (NZP) velocity and V-I characteristics of two Bi-2223 pancake coils with different Ag/SC ratio were investigated by experiment. Non-uniformity of Ic and broad restive transition was oberserbed in two coils. The NZP velocity of azimuth direction is faster than radius direction, and the NZP velocity of coil with higher Ag/SC ratio is faster than another coil with lower Ag/SC ratio.

  • The influence of voltage lead and tape arrangements on self-field losses was investigated by using a 1.5m long Bi-2223 tape. Experimental results show that the measured losses are strongly dependent on voltage lead configurations but not contact positions. The losses are independent on frequencies below critical current of the tape. It menas that the self-field losses are purely hysteretic.

  • In the present work, we have investigated the combined effect of high-energy milling and Agb addition on microstructure and superconducting properties for Bi-2223/Ag. tape. The addition of siver plays an important role in enhancing liquid phase formation, Resulting in densification and cracking during solidification. Further study is needed for the optimization of Ag content and heat-treatment which can reduce the cracking.

  • In this work the AC loss measurement setup based on an iron core background magnet, not used in a conventional one, has been successfully developed, To prove its validity, a round-robin test for the same Bi-2223 tape sample among three institutes has been done. The results show that test data from the developed setup well agree with losses measured at different institutes.

  • 다수본의 Bi-2223테이프로 구성되는 도체의 자기자계손실에 대한 검토를 하였으며, 그 주요 결과를 보면 자기자계손실은 도체를 구성하는 테이프의 임계 전류밀도가 커짐에 따라서 증가한다. 또한 테이프의 코아가 전자기적으로 분리되어 있는 경우 도체의 자기자계 손실은 테이프의 임계전류에 무관한 반면 결합되어 있는 경우는 테이프의 임계전류가 커짐에 따라서 도체의 자기자계손실도 증가할 것으로 예상된다.

  • Bi-2223테이프의 동저항 및 동저항손실에 대해 조사하였으며, 그 주요 결과는 외부교류자장이 어느 정도 큰 경우에 한해서는 테이프의 동저항은 전류에는 의존하지 않고, 자장 및 주파수에는 비례한다. 또한 동저항손실은 전류가 증가함에 따라서 급격히 증가하며, 외부교류자장에 비례하고, 주파수에는 거의 의존하지 않는다.

  • Superconductivity has various applications in the whole industry such as the generation of high magnetic field for medical care and diagnosis, the lossless power transmission, environment-friendly vehicles and clean energy storage systems. This paper deals with the High-Tc superconducting(HTS) power supply using heater-triggered switch for the charging of the superconducting magnets. HTS superconducting power supply consists of two heaters, an electromagnet, and Bi-2223 solenoid and Bi-2223 pancake is used as a superconducting load, similar to real HTS magnet. The timing sequential control of two heaters and an electromagnet is an important factor to generate pumping- current in the Bi-2223 load. The thermal analysis of switching parts of the Bi-2223 solenoid according to the heater input was carried out. Based upon the analysis, the 0.8A of heater current were optimally derived. The maximum pumping current reached 1.7A.
