정전분무의 유체 물성치와 정전 매개변수 따른 분무특성 (Spray Characteristics according to Fluid Properties and Electric Parameters of Electrospray)

  • Electrospray is used in various industries because it can produce continuous and uniform droplets. However, it is difficult to find optimal spraying condition due to lack of data in various conditions. In this study, various conditions were divided into electric parameters and fluid property. The electric parameters set Nozzle to Substrate(NTS), nozzle diameters and the fluid property set viscosity and conductivity as conditions. In this study, it observes spray patterns, Sauter Mean Diameter(SMD) according to conditions. As a result, fluid properties had a greater effect on the cone-Jet mode than on the nozzle diameter, NTS, and flowrate. All of solutions have Stable cone-jet mode at voltage of 8.5 kV, NTS of 20 mm and nozzle diameter of 0.2 mm. SMD has 27% different depending on viscosity and conductivity. The increased flowrate and viscosity are rising break-up length and thickening jet also jet is thinned by increased conductivity. Experiments have confirmed that the jet is thickened by increased flowrate and viscosity, and that the jet is thinned by conductivity.

공기유입을 고려한 2유체 분무의 실험 및 수치해석적 연구 (An Experimental and Numerical Study On Structure of Twin-fluid Spray with Air Entrainment)

  • The entrainment of air into spray jets has been considered. Entrainment is defined as the quantity of ambient gas that is drawn into a spray. Numerical study is performed to investigate an air entrainment into spray jets and compared with results of experiment of air entrainment. Experimental measurements were performed with PDA and PIV system. Experimental and numerical results show that the air entrainment was affected droplet size and velocity.

외부혼합형 음속노즐을 사용한 2유체 미립화의 분무특성 (Spray characteristics of twin-fluid atomization using external-mixing sonic nozzles)

  • Spray characteristics of external mixing sonic twin-fluid atomization nozzles are investigated experimentally. Particle sizes are measured by the Fraunhofer diffraction method using the Malvern particle analyzer, and their radial distributions are obtained using the tomographical transformation technique. The spatial distribution of SMD shows that the drop size increases in the radial direction at a fixed liquid flow rate, and the distribution is getting uniform rapidly as the atomizing gas pressure increases. The SMD decreases as the liquid flow rate increases at a fixed GLR. It is found that the atomization efficiency of the flush type sonic nozzle is superior to that of protrusion type. The effect of laser beam diameter of the particle analyzer on the spatial SMD distribution is minor at present experimental conditions.

MR 유체 입자 속도 계측을 위한 디지털 홀로그래피 현미경 시스템의 개발 (Development of Digital Holographic Microscopy System for Measurements of Particle Velocities in MR Fluids)

  • In this study digital holographic microscopy system for measurements of 3-D velocities of particles in MR fluid is developed. Holograms are recorded using either a CCD camera with a double pulse laser or a high-speed camera with a continuous laser. To process recorded holograms, the correlation coefficient method is used for focal plane determination of particles. To remove noise and improve the quality of holograms and reconstructed images, a Wiener filter is adopted. The two-threshold and image segmentation methods are used for binary image transformation. For particle pairing, the match probability method is adopted. The developed system will be applied to measurements of the characteristics of unsteady 3-D particle velocities in MR fluids through the next stage of this study.

분사압력변화가 분무특성에 미치는 영향에 관한 수치적 고찰 (Numerical Analysis of the Effect of Injection Pressure Variation on Spray Characteristics)

  • High injection pressure system has been developed as a measure to reduce harmful exhaust gases. In order to understand the effect of pressure on diesel spray injection process, wide range of high injection pressure was tested. The gas phase is modelled by the Eulerian continuum conservation equations of mass, momentum, energy and fuel vapour fraction. The liquid phase is modelled following the discrete droplet model approach in Lagrangian form. The droplet distributions, vapor fractions and gas flows are analyzed in various injection pressure cases. The distributions of spray and vapor increase and the Sauter mean diameter decreases with increasing injection pressure quickly in a low pressure area but slowly in a high pressure area.

  • The heat transfer enhancement of heat sink with mist flow is studied numerically by solving the conservation equations for mass, momentum and energy in the continuous and dispersed phases. A Lagrangian method is used for tracing dispersed water droplets in the heat sink and an Eulerian species transport model for air and steam mixture. The continuous and dispersed phases are interacted with the drag and evaporation source terms. The computed results show that addition of evaporating mist droplets enhances the cooling performance of heat sink significantly.

지하철 공기청정을 위한 2유체노즐형 자동세정 공기청정 시스템 개발에 관한 연구 (Performance Evaluation of Automatic Self-Cleaning Filter System using Twin-Fluid Nozzles for Air Cleaning in the Subway Stations)

  • The removal of the dusts in the subway stations, tunnels, factories and buildings becomes issue for comfortable indoor and outdoor conditions. There has been used an automatic self-cleaning filter system to collect the dusts. In general, the collected particles are removed by water spray nozzles. The new design for improving the cleaning efficiency of collected dusts and reducing the supplied water is the concept of the plane array of demister filters and the twin-fluid nozzle for mixing compressed air and water in the automatic self-cleaning filter system. Results show that the cleaning efficiency of twin-nozzle filter systems is 99.1%, compared to 47% in the conventional filter system. Therefore the automatic self-cleaning filter system using twin-fluid nozzle filter systems reduces water supplied in the filter system, and increases cleaning efficiency and drying efficiency.

  • This paper is investigated the entrainment of air into sprays which has significant effects on the combustion efficiency, stability of flame using the air-assisted twin-fluid nozzle in non-burning. The factors which may be expected to affect the entrainment of air by a liquid spray are: Relative velocity of droplet and ambient gas; Drop size and size distribution; Density and other property of the liquid. Here, axial, radial velocity and turbulent kinetic energy of spray droplet was measured with the PIV(Particle Image Velocimetry). Spray characteristics were also visualized using CCD camera. The results indicate that the entrainment rate increases more or less non-linearly with the downstream region.

  • I investigated experomentally the spray characteristics to the operating conditions and the shapes of internal mixing twin fluid atomizer. The wide variations of air per liquid ratio are conducted to predit the influences of the Sauter mean diameter(SMD), spray angle, distribution of drop size, the flowing condition of gas and length, flowing, area of gas and liquid, and diameter, number and place of the orifice. In this experiment, air per liquid raio, mixing chamber length per diameter, orifice diameter, and the flowing area ratio of gas and fluid influences greatly on SMD, spray angle, distribution of drop size and intermittent fluctuation region.

  • 심플렉스 연료노즐의 분무시험을 수행하였다. 가스터빈의 주 연료인 등유를 이용한 연료노즐 분무시험의 경우 폭발의 위험과 유해성으로 인하여 물을 이용하여 시험을 수행하는 경우가 많이 있게 된다. 본 연구에서는 ND:Yag 레이저를 이용한 가시화 시험과 PDPA 시스템을 이용한 입자 크기 측정 시험을 등유와 같은 특성을 가지는 Calibration Fluid Type # 2와 물을 작동유체로 사용하여 수행하였다. 시험결과에서 물의 SMD는 Calibration Fluid Type # 2 보다 5$\sim$15 mm 정도 크게 나타났으며 이는 물의 표면장력이 3배 정도 크기 때문으로 판단된다. 반면에 분무각과 분무형태는 유사하게 나타났다.
