Coloration of Han-bok on Modern Korean Oil-Paintings (한국 근대 서양화에 표현된 한복의 배색에 관한 연구)

  • The purpose of this study is to comprehend the color and the coloration of Han-bok on the oil-painting of modern Korea. Generally, the modern Korean art is from late 19th to early 1980s' for the lowest year. Through the introduction of oil painting and the painter's work which had been reflected painter's realism at these times, we might know that the phases of the times and we could see a Korean costume and color combination. In this study, Han-bok is divided to upper clothes, lower clothes and the other parts which was distinguished by the color. The color of Han-bok which is watched on the modern art oil-painting is mainly white. The primary color including red, yellow, blue and middle tone colors is in harmony. It means that the five colors of Yin-Yang Wu-hsing were preferred until the modern times. The coloration of Han-bok is classified to a one-colored arrangement, two-colored arrangement and three-colored arrangement. The one-colored arrangement by white and black is a peculiar coloration to the modern times. The two-colored arrangement is a traditional coloration of Han-bok. The color which is high value and chroma is arranged on jacket, Jeogori. A dimension rate that is related with the difference of value and chroma made a visual harmony. In many cases of the two-colored arrangement of neutral colors is not much different in Jeogori and Chima. So Han-bok which is two-colored arrangement of neutral colors is colored in a breast- tie, pigtail ribbon, cuff and waist band for getting visual focus. The represented three-colored arrangement is white Jeogori and navy blue Chima with red breast-tie. It is a perfect visual color combination. The color of Han-bok was inherited a traditional color and the combination of neutral color was balanced. It was a refinable coloration system according to a difference of value and chroma. It means that a color sensation and arrangement of Korean have been developed by our unique climate, nations and the culture which has been formed for a long times.

Clinical Investigation of Desmoid Tumors (유건종(類腱腫)의 임상적 고찰)

  • A desmoid tumor is a locally aggressive growth of connective tissue origin which infiltrates the surrounding tissue and has a marked tendency for recurrence. And so it was also called as an aggressive fibromatosis, musculofascial fibromatosis or fibrosarcoma etc. Thirteen cases of desmoid tumor was treated since 1980, and their retrospective study was done with 79 months of follow-up after initial surgical excision. The female was involved in 12 cases(one male) with the age ranged from 7-50 years, average 28 years, and seven patients in third decade. A slowly growing mass was excised on average 4 months after first notice of the mass, but their margins are not demarcated clearly in most cases. Wide excision in 12 cases was done, but wide excision and saphenous vein graft was performed in one case because of invasion of posterior tibial artery by tumor mass. The tumor was found on extraabdominal region in 8 cases(61.5%) but 5 cases in abdominal wall(38.5%). The recurrence rate was high(6/13, 46.2%), and 11 times in 6 patients were recurred(average 1.8 times), within 27 months of initial excision. Six cases of recurrence were treated with wide excision again in 3 cases, wide excision combined with radiotherapy(4,000-6,000cGy) in 4 cases and wide excision with chemotherapy in one case. During the follow-up for average 21 months after treatment, no recurrences are found. Tumor remission periods without recurrence are average 67 months in all, and 11 years in longest case. Histologically it was very mimic with fibrosarcoma but could be differentiated with Trichrome stain, and their findings are not changed after recurrence.

The Changes in the Chemical Composition of Lipid in Hair-tail Muscle on Sun-Drying (갈치육(肉)의 일광건조중(日光乾燥中) 지질(脂質)의 화학적(化學的) 변화(變化)에 관(關)한 연구(硏究))

  • When the Hair-tail was dried in the direct sunlight, the changes of acid value, TBA value, peroxide value and fatty acid composition of its muscle were observed. The results of the observation were as follows: 1) Total content of the lipid in the fresh Hair-tai1 was 9.91%, that of saturated fatty acid was 43.3%, and that of unsaturated fatty acid was 56.7%. The TBA value, the peroxide value and acid value were slowly increased until the 4th week, then were somewhat quickly increased in the 5th week. 2) The analysis of the fatty acid composition of the fresh Hair-tail lipid by meas of G.L.C method showed the order of the content quantities such as $C_{18}\;:\;1(44.3%),$ $C_{16}(29.22%),$ $C_{16}\;:\;1(11.3%),$ $C_{14}(6.6%),$ $C_{18}(5.4%),$ $C_{17}(2%),$ $C_{17}\;:\;1(1.1%),$ $C_{18}(2%),$ were found to be a trace. 3) The content of the unsaturated fatty acid was shown to be decreased while the level of the saturated fatty acid was increased during the sun drying.

Introduction of the representative mushroom cultivars and groundbreaking cultivation techniques in Korea

  • The production scale of mushrooms in Korea is approximately 600 billion won, which is 1.6% of Korea's gross agricultural output. In Korea, ca. 190,000 tons of mushrooms are harvested annually. Although the numbers of mushroom farms and cultivators are constantly decreasing, total mushroom yields are increasing owing to large-scale cultivation facilities and automation. The recent expansion of the well-being trend has caused an increase in mushroom consumption in Korea: the annual per capita mushroom was 3.9 kg ('13), whichis a little higher than that in Europe. Thus, mushroom export, mainly Flammulina velutipes and Pleurotus ostreatus, has increased since the mid-2000s. Recently, however, it is slightly reduced. Nevertheless, Vietnam, Hong Kong, the United States, and the Netherlands continue to export mushrooms, and Korea has increased its export to Australia, Canada, Southeast Asia, etc. Canned Agaricus bisporus, the first export of the Korean mushroom industry, reached it speak sales in 1977-1978. When Korea initiated trade with China in 1980, the international prices of mushrooms fell sharply, leading to shrinkage of the domestic markets. Spurred by the high demand to develop substitute goods for A. bisporus, the oyster mushroom (P. ostreatus) gained attention since it seemed to suit the taste of Korean consumers. Although the log cultivation technique for oyster mushroom was developed in the early 1970s, it required a great deal of labor. Thus, we developed the shelf cultivation technique, which is easier to manage and allows for mass production. In this technique, the growing shelf is made mafrom fermented rice straw, whichis the only P. ostreatus medium in the world and isused only in South Korea. After then, the use of cotton wastes as an additional material of medium, the productivity. Currently, we are developing a standard cultivation technique and environmental control system that can stably produce mushrooms throughout the year. The increase of oyster mushroom production may boostthe domestic market and contribute to industrial development. In addition, oyster mushroom production technology played a role in forming the basis for the development of bottle cultivation, which made mass production. In particular, bottle cultivation using liquid spawn could allow for the export of F. velutipes and Pleurotus eryngii. In addition, the white varieties of F. velutipes were second developed in the world after Japan. We also developed the new A. bisporus cultivar 'Saeah', which is easy to grow in Korea. In hopes to advance the mushroom industry, we will continue to develop cultivars with international competitive power and to improve cultivation techniques.

Trends of Preventive Medicine Research according to The Korean Journal of Preventive Medicine and Qualitative Meta-analysis on Articles of Lead Poisoning (예방의학회지를 중심으로 한 예방의학 연구의 동향과 연관련 논문의 질적 메타분석)

  • Objectives: The purpose of this study was to describe the trends of original research in the Korean Journal of Preventive Medicine, and to evaluate the quality of original articles about lead poisoning. Method: The data for the analysis of trends in preventive medicine research was taker from a total of 829 original articles published in the Korean Journal of Preventive Medicine from 1968 to 1997, The qualitative meta-analysis was measured against a checklist of evaluation criteria, which were divided into 10 categories, with 46 articles on lead poisoning. The evaluation process was performed independently by two evaluators, Results: The number of articles per 100 members over the study period increased by almost 4 pieces in the early 1980s, and by more than 9 pieces in the mid-1990s. In the major classifications of subjects, environmental and industrial health, epidemiology and health statistics, and health policy and management published 370 pieces (44.0%), 137 pisces (16.5%), 322 pieces (38.9%) respectively. In the order of the number of articles, five themes about health significance, including metal exposure (73 pieces), diseases associated with exposure to organic solvents (45 pieces), air pollution (36 pieces), maternal and child health (32 pieces), and occupational health (3D pieces) received consistent attention throughout the years $1968\sim1997$. The overall mean score of article qualify about lead poisoning was 37.8 out of 50. Of the articles any information on the purpose and hypothesis described well, Of those the originality of the subjects, the form of article's (including tables and figures), and the number of inappropriate words of abstracts showed very low score. For multiple regression analyses, the number of joint research institutes and the acceptance of research grants about the article quality were statistically significant. Conclusions: The number of original research reports in the Korean J Prev Med has recently increased and their subjects bave diversified. Of the basis of this study, the articles need improvement in the areas of abstracts, tables and illustrations (figures), etc. The Korean Society for Preventive Medicine will revise contribution regulations for manuscripts submitted to the Korean J Prev Med. Future studies should address these issues and perform the quantitative mata-analysis about the specific subjects including the quality of articles.

자동차 배출가스 규제 및 대책

  • 1960년초 이래 우리나라는 고도의 경제성장을 이룩하게 되었으며 이러한 경제성장에 따른 산업화 사회의 특징인 공업화 도시화 인구집중 현상은 우리나라에도 심각한 환경오염 문제를 야기시켜 왔다. 또한 같은 기간동안 자동차의 보유대수 역시 급격한 증가를 보여왔던바, 1962년 30,000 대에서 1982년도 자동차 등록대수는 약 640,000대로 증가하게 되었으며 대부분의 자동차가 대 도시에 집중되어 있다. 특히 전체 차량의 40%가 집중되어 있는 서울시의 경우에는 자동차 배 출가스로 인한 대기오염문제가 도시민의 건강과 재산에 많은 피해를 일으키게 되었다. 우리나 라는 선진 외국의 대도시에 비해 자동차의 1일 주행거리가 3배 내지 5배를 더 주행하고 있고 자동차 배출가스 기준의 완화, 노후차량의 증가, 도로율의 불황 및 도로조건의 불비 등은 도시 중심천의 자동차 집중현상과 함께 자동차 배출가스로 인한 대기오염 문제가 보다 더 심각하게 우려되었고, 따라서 자동차 배출가스규제 강화의 필연성이 계속해서 주장되어 왔다. 자동차로 인한 공해문제는 1940년도 후반 미국 남부 California 지방에서 광화학스모그의 발생과 함께 거 론되기 시작하였으나 본격적으로 문제가 제기된 것은 급격한 자동차 증가로 인한 도시민의 건 강피해가 발생하기 시작한 것은 1960년대이다. 처음으로 규제되기 시작한 것은 1965년 미국에서 "자동차 오염방지법"의 제정부터이며 1968년부터 자동차 배출가스에 대한 규제가 시작되었다. 한편 일본은 1973년, 유럽에서는 1975년부터 일산화탄소, 탄화수소, 질소산화물 및 매연에 대한 규제를 시작하게 되었다. 우리나라에서는 "도로운송차량법"에서 도로교통의 안전과 질서유지라는 측면에서 일부 규제하여 오다가 1977년말 "환경보전법"이 제정 공포되면서 1980년 1월 환경정의 발족과 함께 실제로 자동차 배출가스를 규제하게 되었다.발족과 함께 실제로 자동차 배출가스를 규제하게 되었다.을 SUP7H종으로 더욱 향상된 것이 실용 화되고 있다. 아래에서 이에 대한 기계적 특성을 중심으로 검토키로 한다.9%내인 0.07cm 정도였으나 1973년과 1974년의 방축년에는 조차 3개 처리구(3.4-5.18cm)에 필적되는 연평균 4.16cm로 나타났다. 5. 전체 시험구로부터으 연평균 토양유실량은 Sharpsburg 점질양토에 대한 S.C.S 한계허용치 10ton/ha/year 이내로 나타났다. 비처리구에서의 토양유실량은 평균 2.56ton/ha/year로 높게 나타난 반면 3개의 서로 다른 추리구인 비수구, 초생수로구 및 Bromegrass구에서는 각각 0.152, 0.192 및 0.290ton/ha/year로 낮은 결과를 가져왔다. 6. 평균 침전량에 대한 L.S.D. 검정 걸과 전시험구중 비처리구가 고도의 유의차를 나타낸 반면 비수구, 초생수로구 및 Bromegrass 목초구 간에는 아무런 유의차가 인정되지 않았다. 7. 농지보전 처리구인 배수구와 초생수로구는 비처리구에 비해 낮은 침두 유출량과 낮은 토양유실량을 나타내었다.구보다 14% 절감되는 것으로 나타났다.작용하는 것으로 사료된다.된다.정량 분석한 결과이다. 시편의 조성은 33.6 at% U, 66.4 at% O의 결과를 얻었다. 산화물 핵연료의 표면 관찰 및 정량 분석 시험시 시편 표면을 전도성 물질로 증착시키지 않고, Silver Paint 에 시편을 접착하는 방법으로도 만족한 시험 결과를 얻을 수 있었다.째, 회복기 중에 일어나는 입자들의 유입은 자기폭풍의 지속시간을 연장시키는 경향을 보이며 큰 자기폭풍일수록 현저했다. 주상에서 관측된 이러한 특성은 서브스톰 확장기 활동이 자기폭풍의 발달과 밀접한 관계가 있음을 시사한다.se that were all low in two aspects, named "the Nonsignificant group".   • When we design a dress, we should not only consider the esthetic sense and the relationship between movements of the body and the type of dress, but also the combination between the qualities and proper uses of textiles. recently the sale of ready-made clothes has been booming but I wonder whether they have been made in accordance with research concerning body movements and dresses. I would like to make the following observations on dresses, because I have personally suffered the inconvenience of restricted arm movements when wearing ready-made clothes. I have made four types types of foundations with muslin and Jersey, with these foundations I measured the degree of tension or how much the waist-line was drawn up then the arm was moved in increments of 45 degree angles and there by covering the entire span of vertical and horizontal movements. I have intended to experiment with sleeves of differing height in several ways. Concerning the movement factor, I have determined that with excessive activity vertical movements are twice as uncomfortable as horizontal movements. Concerning the faburic, I have found that because jersey has more elastic qualities than muslin, it has proven to be more responsive to body movements. concerning dresses, I have fund that the higher the height of the sleeves, the more uncomfortable it is to move the arms and the greater the degree to which the waist-line is drawn up. As a result this experiment I have made the following observations. Firstly, the vertical movement of the arms to a 180 degree angle has the most extreme influence on the breadth of movement of the waist-line. Secondly, because jersey permits freer body movements than muslin, it should be the preferred material for use in making sportswear. Thirdly, the formula A·H/4+3 of the sleev's cap height is suitable for making street dresses and formal wear. The formula A·H/5 and A·H/6 are properly used when making working clothes and sportswear, and the formula A·H/8 is proper for a sleeping garment and clothes for patients. Fourthly when deciding to any garments, it is important to consider the amount of arm movement anticipated and the relationship between the material and the degree to which the waistline is drawn up. In nder-blouse, when we raise our arms to the most extreme position, we should at that point still have 20∼25 cm of material remaining under the waist-line which includes the maximum of 14.1cm plus part of the blouse and breath of skirt's belt. In the case of the over blouse it is proper for us to have the length of 17∼20 cm remaining below the waist-line.

A Critical Review on the Critical Communication Studies in Korea (한국의 비판언론학에 대한 비판적 성찰: 문화연구와 정치경제학을 중심으로)

  • The purpose of this essay explores a critical review of the Korean critical communication studies focused on the problematic of cultural studies and political economy in 2000s. The findings are as follows; The 'consumer turn' or 'audience turn' in new revisionism modelling John Fiske's cultural studies has been interpreted not to complement but to substitute the necessary criticism of the post-authoritarian media establishment of Korea at that time, arising identity crisis of Korean cultural studies as one of the critical camp. On other side, however, some political economy studies close to the unilinear theses of orthodox marxism has been appraised to neglect the complex process and structure of media and cultural production as well. While the press war between the market-dominant dailies and some progressive dailies has given rise to a whole debate as expected in consolidating period of Korean emerging democracy, the conjucturalism as modelled by Hall's 'authoritarian populism' failed to initiate a new theo tical practice in Korea. Finally, this review essay propose the some new research issues that would converge cultural studies and political economy, modernism and postmodernism; citizenship vs 'cultural citizenship'(valuing the private identity and gender) or Habermasian public sphere vs 'cultural public sphere', the culture of production, (modern)citizen/(postmodern)consumer(recently debated in English media policy), 'differentiation' in capitalist production and 'difference' in consumer sovereignty, 21c future vision of public service broadcasting as one of the 20c institutions.

The Toxicities of Some Soil Insecticides to the Various Larval Instars of the Common Cutworm (Agrotis fucosa Butler) in the Laboratory (거세미나방 유충의 령기에 따른 몇가지 토양살충제의 독성의 차이에 관한 연구)

  • The toxicities of some soil insecticides were evaluated in terms of the tolerance to various larval-ins tars of the common cutworm (Agrotis fucosa Butler) using topical application method in the laboratory. $LD_{50}$ values(ug/larva) were determined by the probit analysis and the tolerance-values were obtained with '$LD_{50}$ values for from 2nd-to 6th-instars/$LD_{50}$ values for first-instars.' The relative toxicities of the insecticides were 31so compared with the $LD_{50}$ values for the instars. The degree of tolerance was greatly increased as the larval instar advanced; the ranges of tolerance between the first-and 6th-instar larvae to the insecticides phoxim (Volaton), diazinon, chlorpyrifos (Dursban), carbofuran (Curaterr) and Mocap were 251.6, 126.6, 97.5, 44.3, and 18.7 times, respectively. The average relative toxicities of the insecticides for the instars indicated that the toxicity of phoxim was the greatest and following carbofuran, chlorpyrifos, Mocap and diazinon.

Types of Weed Community in Transplanted Lowland Rice and Relationship between Yield and Weed Weight in Weed Communities (논 잡초의 군락형 종류와 군락형별 잡초발생과 수도수량과의 관계)

  • Eight different weed community types growing in association with transplanted rice were identified in the experimental fields used in these studies. The Importance Value (LV.) of weed species growing in association with rice changed with time. The I. V. of Echinochloa glabrescens Munro ex Hook f. increased from 40 days after transplanting (DAT) until heading and then, decreased from heading to maturity of rice. However, the LV. of Monochoria vaginalis (Burm.) Pres!. and Echinochloa crus-galli ssp. hispidula (Retz.) Honda increased from 40 DAT to maturity while Scirpus maritimus L. decreased from 40 DAT. There was a high negative correlation between grain yield and weed weight at rice heading in all weed communities. The competitive ability of rice against weeds varied depending upon weed species. The highest yield decrease due to weed competition was obtained from the E. crus-galli ssp. hispidula-S. Maritimus community. Forty-two percent yield reduction was caused by competition of 100g dry weight of weeds per square meter of this community type at rice heading. The yield decrease for the same amount of weeds was 10% for the E. glabrescens community, 15% for the M vaginalis community and the M vaginalis-Scirpus supinus L. community and 21% for the M vaginalis-E. glabrescens-Fimbristylis littoralis Gaud.-S. maritimus community type.
