The development of information retrieval between 1950s and 1990s is described chronologically. For each decade, the following information retrieval systems are examined : post-coordinate and KWIC indexing methods for the 1950s ; off-line and experimental on-line systems for the 1960s ; on-line and full-text retrieval systems for the 1970s ; full-text databases, on-line interfaces, and overseas and domestic on-line databases for the 1980s ; and finally for the 1990s, CD-ROM, multimedia, hypertext, and Internet. This study aims to figure out the development of Korean child welfare between 1950s and 1970s in the light of Children's Light as the oldest professional journal of social welfare in Korea. This journal had been published by CCF Superintendent Korea Conference from 1957. Particularly, this study has been conducted through the social historical perspective, and the collected data was analysed by three periods, institution-centered care era(1957-1961), home-centered care era(1962-1969), and expanded services era(1970-1979). Finally, the resultant themes are as follows: firstly, orphans' forster under social prejudice, social work inclined to Christianity, and institution-centered social casework based on faith; secondly, development of systematization on the whole social welfare, rising of social work professionalism, tasks for orphans and workers in orphanages, and expectations on the integration of practice; and thirdly, strengthening of children's education and health in the institution, questioning on deinstitutionalization, preparation against withdrawal of foreign aid agencies, and the government's passive correspondence. Unfortunately, this study limits to reveal the children's services by non-Christian agencies because of the data based on the services by Christian agencies.
This paper want to examine how Gwanghwamun and its surrounding areas work in the cinematic spaces for Korean films of the 1950s-2010s. First, in Korean films of the 1950s-1960s, Myeong-dong(Namchon), Bukchon, Seochon, and Dongchon are the primitive, perceptual, existential spaces that show the underground world and tragic pathos in the splendid city through intense desires and fatal frustration, the shadows and conflicts of modernization. Second, in Korean films of the 1970s-1990s, Myeongdong·Jongno(Namchon·Bukchon), Seochon and Dongchon are the perceptual, existential spaces that show public revenge and private alienation through the dichotomy of freedom/evil and the dichotomy of wealth/poverty. Third, in Korean films of the 2000-2010s, Gwanghwamun(Seochon), Bukchon, Namchon, and Dongchon are the perceptual, existential spaces that show civil society ethos and gloomy requiem through national agendas, resistance movements, desires and losses, miserable reality and death.
Public education on soil and soil science in Korea was reviewed through textbooks written in Korean which were used in the primary schools since 1950's. Numbers of words 흙[heuk], the Korean native word meaning soil, and 토양[土壤, toyang], originated from Chinese characters, were counted, and compared with the textbooks published in 1950's, 1970's, and 1990's, 2010's. The Korean native word "heuk" was used 20 times in 1950's, and increased to 55 times in 1970's. In 1990's version, it was decreased to 31 times and to 20 times in the 2010's version. The first appearance in the 1950's version was in the 3rd grade book, but was in the $1^{st}$ grade books in both 1990's and 2010's. In this recent version, the primary school students met this word on the poet, "Toad, Toad build a house", and "Sprout come out through soil clod". The word, "토양, toyang", originated from Chinese characters, 土壤, appears only 2 times in the $6^{th}$ grade in 2010's version. Authors conclusively recommend children should learn meaning of soil at early stage of primary school easily with positive image.

The history of mankind's lunar exploration began in 1958 with the United States of America "Pioneer 0" mission. In 1950s~1970s, the United States of America and Union of Soviet Socialist Republics carried out missions and experienced numerous failures to explore the moon. Since the 1990s, Japan, Europe, China and other Advanced country in Space technology have started to explore the moon and in 2016, Korea began to develop the lunar orbiter for lunar exploration. This paper analyzed the failure cases and causes of the lunar exploration in the USA and the USSR in the 1950s~1970s according to the mission purpose. Examples of mission delays, cancel, and failures that occurred during lunar exploration in post-1990s were presented. Through the investigation and analysis, this paper is intended to serve as a reference of the lunar exploration mission that Korea is working on or will be performing in the future.
Andy Warhol is one of the great artists in the modern history of art who compares favorably with Picasso. His activities had his object on pervasion of a pop art and profit of the art industry. Many previous studies on his activities have attracted and held the attention of his works of art after 1960s. However in spite of his working as publisher of a fashion magazine fashion illustrator fashion model displayer and etc. in 1950s. there are few studies on his activities of 1950s. Hence this study investigates his works of art in 1950s. and intensively analyzes his effect on modern fashion. In 1950s, Andy Warhol had already been distinguished in works of art from other commercial designers through the illustration for advertising design window display of stores and usage of Hollywood stars as anessential element in his works for whom he had sighed when he was young His works were also characterized by a rejection of they originality of commercial arts. He had an great effect on youth's fashion in 1950s and has activities in 1950s had influence on the diffusion of the public punk fashion in 1970s and the street fashion in 1980s.
The purpose of this study is both to describe and to explain the shapes and the changes of Kwangju women's productive activities from the middle of 1950's to the end of 1990's. Productive activities in this study include wage labors as well as economic activities in informal labor sector and domestic labor. Three factors - economic structure, the family, and women's consciousness - are drawn to explain women's work in Kwangju. The period from the middle of 1950's to the end of 1990's has been divided into 5 stages and the characteristics of women's work at each stage are as follows : Kwangju women during 1950's worked hard and contributed to the family economy not only inside but also outside the family : during the second stage from 1960's to 1970's, they accomplished not only the traditional women's role but also industrial wage worker : the third period of the first half of 1980's was the time for the development of social consciousness : the fourth period from the end of 1980's to the beginning of 1990's was the time when women tried to solve their problems by themselves: during the last period from the middle of 1990's to the end of 1990's. Kwangiu women wanted to establish their identities in the independent area from their families.
The purpose of this study is to reveal the cultural meaning behind modern experiences of diversity through the history of clothing in Korea. To this end, this study examines aspects that dictate clothing culture acceptance experienced and practiced by women by analyzing the case of the Naju rural area in Jeollanam-do from the 1950s to 1980s. Modern clothing was accepted later in the 20 century in this village, and the Satgolnai traditional textile tradition was an important factor after 1950s. In addition, the continuity of the rural five-day market is different from practices in the city. Limitations in access to media such as TV, films, and magazines, and the functional meaning of clothing in rural areas contributed to limitations for women to get the opportunity to access modern clothing items that were popular in the city. Unlike in the city, the event that inspired the transition to full-scale modern clothing in this village was the Saemaul Undong Movement of the 1970s. Additionally, Mombbe (labor cloth) worn during the Japanese colonial period was continuously worn as daily clothes for Naju women even after the 1950s. Therefore, colonial modernity continued through clothing.
