  • A general concept of Geun includes the soft organizations such as a muscle, a myofascia, a tendon and a ligament, cartilages and nerves that surround it. The main function of it is a movement of the body such as a flextion and a extension, a connection of the joints, and a construction of the body shape. Lately, we consider Geun important little by little, develop a variety of the therapeutic measures which make use of it, and apply it to the treatment in the oriental medicine, And the therapeutic measures which utilize Geun will be developed from now on. Therefore, this study reviewed and analyzed the direction of the research referred to Geun in the oriental medicine and the tendency to the experiment to grow the study referred to Geun in oriental medicine continuously and developed the new direction. This study collected 44's theses reported in the oriental medical journal and analyzed in accordance with the journal, time, form and topics. The following results were obtained in this study; 1. In the theses referred to Geun, the journal of Korean acupuncture & moxibustion society and of Korean oriental medicine have the most of them(11's theses) and at the next the journal of oriental rehabilitation medicine has 9's theses. 2. By analyzing the form of the theses, these were classified into the theoretical, experimental and clinical studies. The theoretical these occupied 39%, the experimental theses 54%, and the clinical theses 7%. 3. By analyzing the theses referred to Geun, these were classified into the muscular abnormality - such as a powerlessness, a injury, a atrophy, a disorder, and a pain - the theory of muscles along the regular meridians, the muscular organization, the therapeutic measures, the manipulation and so on. 4. The theses of the muscular abnormality occupied 30% of them referred to Geun and the theory of muscles along the regular meridians 20%, the muscular organization 12%, the therapeutic measures 12%, and the manipulation 8%. According to the above results, the study of the new field referred to Geun and the clinical report are indispensable since the field is limited and the tendency is theoretical and experimental.

  • Shangwan(CV13), Zhongwan(CV12), Xiawan(CV10), Hefu(L14) and Taichong(LR3) which belong to Conception Vessel and stomach meridian are acupuncture points frequently used for healing gastrointestinal desease in oriental medicine. The present study was conducted to see the effects produced by combined acupuncture(A), electro-acupuncture(EA) and moxibustion using five acupoints which belongs to different meridians on serum gastrin level in rats. Electro-acupuncture (2 Hz, intensity; 10 times muscle twitch threshold) was applied for 30 minutes to Hefu(LI4), Taichong(LR3) under halothane anesthesia. Moxibustion ($1.6{\pm}0.3\;mg$, 5 times of a day) was applied during 3 days to CV10, CV12, CV13 under halothane anesthesia. Combined stimuli of acupuncture at Hefu(LI4), Taichong(LR3) and moxibustion at CV13, CV12 increased serum gastrin level significantly eventough combined simulus of moxibustion on CV 10 was not shown any change. And combined stimul of EA and moxibustion at experimental all groups were not shown any effects. These data suggest that effects of acupuncture and moxibustion are depentent with used acupoints and combination stimuli method.

  • Objectives : The object of this study is to evaluate and develop the system that reflects acupoints electrical properties by the multi-frequency using the SPAC (Single Power Alternative Current) stimulation method based on BIA (Bioelectrical impedance method). Methods : The 12 channel meridian impedance measurement system (MIMS) was designed, which sets multi-frequency with 10 steps (1~10kHz). To check acupoints electrical properties, impedance of acupoints were measured from 11 acupoints selected from the LU and ST meridians. Results : Regarding distribution of measurement values by multi-frequencies, we found the lowest response at 1kHz was in common. But frequency bands which represent the highest response at each acupoint were various. Measurement values of each acupoint by multi-frequencies were expressed similar distribution (P<0.05). Also we could check same frequency band which showed the highest response at left/right equal acupoints (P<0.05). Conclusions : Through change of acupoints electrical properties by multi-frequency stimulation, we checked oriental medical diagnostic possibilities by using this system. We would progress variable clinical trials with this system for oriental medical diagnosis.

  • This is a paper on the validity of Extra Gigong Therapy(EGT) on Hypertension patients. We've treated hypertension patients EGT, used IEMD for analysis, so that come to these conclusions. 1. Average value of treatment group was 4.215, this is higher than one of control group. They had differences up to the standard. 2. Hypertension patients are divided into EGT treated group(treatment group) and non-treated one(control group). 3. Light stomach meridian has differences in treatment group and no differences in control group before and after EGT. That means EGT is effective. So does Spleen meridian. 4. With 12 meridians' electric potential values, we come to conclusion that EGT is likely to do hypertension patients good, especially on the point of view of liver, kidney, stomach and spleen meridian pathways. And bibliographies back up in this conclusion. 5. We classified hypertension patients into 4 factors: that is a spiritual factor, a physical factor, an eating factor and a circulation factor. Among these, a physical factor was seen of high frequency. There is a close connection between a physical factor and liver, kidney, spleen meridian pathways. The consequence was that subjects are suburban residents in the prime of time who had overworked.
