  • Let D be a plane domain whose boundary consists of n components and $C_1$, $C_2$ two boundary components of D. We consider the family $F_1$ of conformal mappings f satisfying f(D) $\subset$ {1 < |w| < ${\mu}(f)$}, $f(C_1)=\{|w|=1\}$, $f(C_2)=\{|w|={\mu}(f)\}$. There are conformal mappings $g_0$, $g_1({\in}F_1)$ onto a radial and a circular slit annulus respectively. We obtain the following theorem, $$\{{\mu}(f)|f\;{\in}\;F_1\}=\{\mu|\mu(g_1)\;{\leq}\;{\mu}\;{\leq}\;{\mu}(g_0)\}$$. And we consider the family $F_n$ of conformal mappings $\tilde{f}$ from D onto a covering surfaces of the Riemann sphere satisfying some conditions. We obtain the following theorems, {$\mu|1$ < ${\mu}\;{\leq}\;{\mu}(g_1)$} ${\subset}\;\{{\mu}(\tilde{f})|\tilde{f}\;{\in}\;F_2\}\;{\subset}\;\{{\mu}(\tilde{f})|\tilde{f}\;{\in}\;F_n\}$ and ${\mu}(\tilde{f})\;{\leq}\;{\mu}(g_0)^n$.

  • In the flip chip interconnection on organic substrates using eutectic Pb/Sn solder bumps highly reliable Under Bump Metallurgy (UBM) is required to maintain adhesion and solder wettability. Various UBM systems such as 1$\mu$m Al/0.2$\mu$m Pd/1$\mu$m Cu, laid under eutectic Pb/Sn solder were investigated with regard to their interfacial reactions and adhesion proper-ties. The effects of numbers of solder reflow and aging time on the growth of intermetallic compounds (IMCs) and on the solder ball shear strength were investigated. Good ball shear strength was obtained with 1$\mu$m Al/0.2$\mu$m Ti/5$\mu$m Cu and 1$\mu$m Al/0.2$\mu$m ni/1$\mu$m Cu even after 4 solder reflows or 7 day aging at 15$0^{\circ}C$. In contrast 1$\mu$m Al/0.2$\mu$m Ti/1$\mu$m Cu and 1$\mu$mAl/0.2$\mu$m Pd/1$\mu$m 쳐 show poor ball shear strength. The decrease of the shear strength was mainly due to the direct contact between solder and nonwettable metal such as Ti and Al resulting in a delamination. In this case thin 1$\mu$m Cu and 0.2$\mu$m Pd diffusion barrier layer were completely consumed by Cu-Sn and pd-Sn reaction.

  • This research was carried out to elucidate the photosnthesis, respiration, and intercellullar $CO_2$ concentration of Kalopanax pictus leaves. The results obtained are summarized as follows; 1. The light compensation points in leaves of Kalopanax pictus seedlings were in the following order; the upper ($34{\mu}mol\;m^{-2}s^{-1}$) middle ($29{\mu}mol\;m^{-2}s^{-1}$) lower leaves ($24{\mu}mol\;m^{-2}s^{-1}$). The light saturated points were at $800{\sim}1200{\mu}mol\;m^{-2}s^{-1}$ in the upper leaves and $400{\mu}mol\;m^{-2}s^{-1}$ in the middle and lower leaves. At the light saturated points, the net photosynthesis rate was in the following order; the upper ($11.1{\mu}mol\;CO_2\;m^{-2}s^{-1}$) middle ($5.15{\mu}mol\;CO_2\;m^{-2}s^{-1}$) lower leaves ($4.01{\mu}mol\;CO_2\;m^{-2}s^{-1}$). The light use efficiency was in the following order; the upper ($0.041{\mu}mol\;CO_2\;{\mu}mol^{-1}$) middle ($0.040{\mu}mol\;CO_2\;{\mu}mol^{-1}$) lower leaves ($0.039{\mu}mol\;CO_2\;{\mu}mol^{-1}$). 2. In the upper leaves of Kalopanax pictus seedlings, the stomatal conductance increased continuously with increasing light intensity. In the middle and lower leaves, it was saturated at $400{\mu}mol\;m^{-2}s^{-1}$. 3. In the upper, middle and lower leaves of Kalopanax pictus seedlings, the intercellular $CO_2$ concentration/the atmospheric $CO_2$ concentration ($C_i/C_a$) ratio rapidly decreased to $600{\mu}mol\;m^{-2}s^{-1}$, and then showed a constant values. 4. In the upper leaves of Kalopanax pictus seedlings, the photorespiration rate was $3.34{\mu}mol\;CO_2\;m^{-2}s^{-1}$ and $CO_2$ compensation point was $48.7{\mu}mol\;mol^{-1}$. Dark respiration rate increased exponentially with increasing leaf temperature, and the photorespiration rate was 2.4 times higher than dark respiration rate.

  • We investigated the effects of molting-hormone insecticide tebufenozide on fourth larvae of the midge C. flaviplumuon in growth development from fourth-instar to adult. Fourth-instar larvae were exposed test concentrations were chosen control, 10 $\mu\textrm{g}$$L^{-1}$, 30 $\mu\textrm{g}$$L^{-1}$, 60 $\mu\textrm{g}$$L^{-1}$ and 100$\mu\textrm{g}$$L^{-1}$. In control and 10 $\mu\textrm{g}$$L^{-1}$, 10~20% individuals succeed adults while low emergence rates were observed surplus 30 $\mu\textrm{g}$$L^{-1}$. Death larvae appeared a various day along the concentration. We observed the converged day: control, 10 $\mu\textrm{g}$$L^{-1}$, 30 $\mu\textrm{g}$$L^{-1}$ and 60~100 $\mu\textrm{g}$$L^{-1}$ were day 4 to day 18, day 13 to day 16, day 9 to day 17 and day 9 to day 15, respectively. Therefore we concerned a tendency that exposure concentration was high, death period was short. Also, due to molting hormone disruption, development of midge was postponed relatively low concentration such as 10 $\mu\textrm{g}$$L^{-1}$. The converged days of pupa stage revealed control, 10 $\mu\textrm{g}$$L^{-1}$, 30 $\mu\textrm{g}$$L^{-1}$ and 60~100$\mu\textrm{g}$$L^{-1}$ were day 11~15, day 16~20, day 9~15 and day 5~9, respectively. About 10% individuals grow up the pupa-stage in 60~100 $\mu\textrm{g}$$L^{-1}$ condition. Sex ratio of the emerged adults was not different in this study. Death pupae frequently appeared in day 13~16 in control, day 6~23 in 10 $\mu\textrm{g}$$L^{-1}$, day 13~16 in 30 $\mu\textrm{g}$$L^{-1}$ and day 6~16 in 60~100 $\mu\textrm{g}$$L^{-1}$.

  • In order to study basic information on the developed electro-magnetic compass, experiments were carried out on board M. S. KAYA at the pier of Dong Kuk Steel Mill in Pusan and the Korean southern sea using a three-axis magnetic sensor from Jan. 21, 1995 to Feb. 14, 1996. The obtained results were as follows : 1. The amount of old metal on the pier was about 27,290tons~57,440tons with an average of 40,560tons, the artificial local disturbance at the pier was min. 27.1$\mu$T, max. 66.5$\mu$T, ave. 433$\mu$T for the horizontal component and min. -27.0$\mu$T, max. 45.1$\mu$T, ave. 3.7$\mu$T for the vertical component. Its direction of horizontal component was 305$^{\circ}$ with the ship's head up bearing at 225$^{\circ}$. 2. The ship's magnetic distribution on the starboard side on berthing at the pier was 17.4$\mu$T for the horizontal component and -6.2$\mu$T for the vertical component. On the ship's port side, it was 19.8$\mu$T for the horizontal component and 4.1$\mu$T for the vertical component. On the ship's starboard side at sea, the ship's magnetic distribution was 19.2$\mu$T for the horizontal component and 3.2$\mu$T for the vertical component. On the ship's port side, the readings were 22.0$\mu$T for the horizontal component and -1.8$\mu$T for the vertical component. The directions of these readings were nearly starboard side. 3. On the pier, the secular change of the artificial local disturbance decreased 8.3$\mu$T from 61.0$\mu$T to 52.7$\mu$T for the horizontal component and decreased 7.1$\mu$T from 8.9$\mu$T M 1.8$\mu$T for the vertical component. On the starboard side from its berth, the ship, s magnetic distribution increased 2.6$\mu$T from 14.8$\mu$T to 17.4$\mu$T for the horizontal component and increased -0.1$\mu$T from -6.1$\mu$T to -6.2$\mu$T for the vertical component. On the ship's port side from its berth, it increased 7.1$\mu$T from 12.7$\mu$T to 19.8$\mu$T for the horizontal component and increased 10.2$\mu$T from -6.1$\mu$T to 4.1$\mu$T for the vertical component. 4. While at sea, on the ship's starboard side, the Secular change of the ship's magnetic distribution increased 3.9$\mu$T from 15.3$\mu$T to 19.2$\mu$T for the horizontal component and increased 2.0$\mu$T from -5.2$\mu$T to -3.2$\mu$T for the vertical component. On the port side, the changes increased 11.4$\mu$T from 10.6$\mu$T to 22.0$\mu$T for the horizontal component and increased 4.9$\mu$T from -6.7$\mu$T to -1.8$\mu$T for the vertical component. Upon berthing at the pier, the deviation of the secular change increased westerly 1 degree W~ 2.5$^{\circ}$ W from 3.5$^{\circ}$ W~ 5$^{\circ}$ W M 6W with the ship's head up bearing at 225$^{\circ}$. While at sea, these increased westerly 2$^{\circ}$ ~ 3$^{\circ}$ from the Northeast to the South and increased easterly 1$^{\circ}$ ~ 8$^{\circ}$ from the Southwest to the North. 5. While at port, within 1 mile between the ship and berth of the pier, as we approached the pier, the westerly deviation increased and when we departed the pier easterly deviation increased. When approaching the pier, the deviation was smaller than the deviation when the ship was departing from the pier. When approaching the bearing at 225$^{\circ}$ with the ship's head up bearing, the varies of deviation was smaller than the varies when the ship's head up bearing was departing from it.

  • The nonvolatile SNOSFET EEPROM memory devices with the channel width and iength of 15[$\mu\textrm{m}$]${\times}$15[$\mu\textrm{m}$], 15[$\mu\textrm{m}$]${\times}$1.5[$\mu\textrm{m}$] and 1.9[$\mu\textrm{m}$]${\times}$1.7[$\mu\textrm{m}$] were fabricated by using the actual CMOS 1 [Mbit] process technology. The charateristics of I$\_$D/-V$\_$D/, I$\_$D/-V$\_$G/ were investigated and compared with the channel width and length. From the result of measuring the I$\_$D/-V$\_$D/ charges into the nitride layer by applying the gate voltage, these devices ere found to have a low conductance state with little drain current and a high conductance state with much drain current. It was shown that the devices of 15[$\mu\textrm{m}$]${\times}$15[$\mu\textrm{m}$] represented the long channel characteristics and the devices of 15[$\mu\textrm{m}$]${\times}$1.5[$\mu\textrm{m}$] and 1.9[$\mu\textrm{m}$]${\times}$1.7[$\mu\textrm{m}$] represented the short channel characteristics. In the characteristics of I$\_$D/-V$\_$D/, the critical threshold voltages of the devices were V$\_$w/ = +34[V] at t$\_$w/ = 50[sec] in the low conductance state, and the memory window sizes wee 6.3[V], 7.4[V] and 3.4[V] at the channel width and length of 15[$\mu\textrm{m}$]${\times}$15[$\mu\textrm{m}$], 15[$\mu\textrm{m}$]${\times}$1.5[$\mu\textrm{m}$], 1.9[$\mu\textrm{m}$]${\times}$1.7[$\mu\textrm{m}$], respectively. The positive logic conductive characteristics are suitable to the logic circuit designing.

  • Purpose: To evaluate dose distribution differences when the dose rates are randomly changed in intensity-modulated radiation therapy using a dynamic multileafcollimator. Materials and Methods: Two IMRT treatment plans including small-field and large-field plans were made using a commercial treatment planning system (Eclipse, Varian, Palo Alto, CA). Each plan had three sub-plans according to various dose rates of 100, 400, and 600 MU/min. A chamber array (2D-Array Seven729, PTW-Freiburg) was positioned between solid water phantom slabs to give measurement depth of 5 cm and backscattering depth of 5 cm. Beam deliveries were performed on the array detector using a 6 MV beam of a linear accelerator (Clinac 21EX, Varian, Palo Alto, CA) equipped with 120-leaf MLC (Millenium 120, Varian). At first, the beam was delivered with same dose rates as planned to obtain reference values. After the standard measurements, dose rates were then changed as follows: 1) for plans with 100 MU/min, dose rate was varied to 200, 300, 400, 500 and 600 MU/min, 2) for plans with 400 MU/min, dose rate was varied to 100, 200, 300, 500 and 600 MU/min, 3) for plans with 600 MU/min, dose rate was varied to 100, 200, 300, 400 and 500 MU/min. Finally, using an analysis software (Verisoft 3.1, PTW-Freiburg), the dose difference and distribution between the reference and dose-rate-varied measurements was evaluated. Results: For the small field plan, the local dose differences were -0.8, -1.1, -1.3, -1.5, and -1.6% for the dose rate of 200, 300, 400, 500, 600 MU/min, respectively (for 100 MU/min reference), +0.9, +0.3, +0.1, -0.2, and -0.2% for the dose rate of 100, 200, 300, 500, 600 MU/min, respectively (for 400 MU/min reference) and +1.4, +0.8, +0.5, +0.3, and +0.2% for the dose rate of 100, 200, 300, 400, 500 MU/min, respectively (for 600 MU/min reference). On the other hand, for the large field plan, the pass-rate differences were -1.3, -1.6, -1.8, -2.0, and -2.4% for the dose rate of 200, 300, 400, 500, 600 MU/min, respectively (for 100 MU/min reference), +2.0, +1.8, +0.5, -1.2, and -1.6% for the dose rate of 100, 200, 300, 500, 600 MU/min, respectively (for 400 MU/min reference) and +1.5, +1.9, +1.7, +1.9, and +1.2% for the dose rate of 100, 200, 300, 400, 500 MU/min, respectively (for 600 MU/min reference). In short, the dose difference of dose-rate variation was measured to the -2.4~+2.0%. Conclusion: Using the Varian linear accelerator with 120 MLC, the IMRT dose distribution is differed a little <(${\pm}3%$) even though the dose-rate is changed.
