Analysis on Fault Current limiting and Recovery Characteristics of Flux-Lock Type Superconducting Fault Current Limiter According to Increase of Applied Voltage (전압증가에 따른 자속구속형 초전도 한류기의 전류제한 및 회복특성 분석)

  • The flux-lock type SFCL consists of transformer with primary and secondary windings connected to a superconducting element in serial. It can be divided into the subtractive and the additive polarity windings according to the winding direction. It could change the fault current limiting characteristics according to the inductance ratio between the coil 1 and coil 2. We investigated the voltage-current characteristics of the flux-lock type SFCL according to the increment of applied voltage. When the applied voltage of the SFCL with the subtractive and the additive polarity windings was increased a initial limiting current ($I_{ini}$) and the quench time of the superconducting element were increased. The recovery time of the superconducting element was increased by increment of applied voltage. Therefore, it was confirmed that recovery characteristics in the flux-lock type SFCL were largely dependent on the consumed energy of a superconducting element because of increment of the consumption power into the superconducting element.

  • Reconstruction of the maxillectomy with an obturator is to restore masticatory, swallowing, phonetic and esthetic problems. Stress created by lateral forces is minimized by the proper selection of an occlusal scheme, elimination of premature occlusal contacts, and wide distribution of supporting area. It should be considered that properly designed retainers reduce the stresses transmitted to the abutment while the obturator is in function. The following clinical report presents palatal obturator treatment with implant assisted removable partial denture (IARPD) design that restores normal function and esthetics in patients who experienced maxillectomy and dental implant failure.

Full mouth rehabilitation using various digital tools in a patient with collapsed bite due to severe attrition (심한 마모로 인하여 교합이 붕괴된 환자의 다양한 디지털 도구를 이용한 완전 구강회복증례)

  • Physiological wear of occlusal surface is inevitable throughout the lifetime, and considered to be normal. Pathologic wear, however, may cause fatal damage to the occlusal surface and destroy esthetics and proper anterior guidance. In such cases, rehabilitation of occlusal wear should be followed by thorough evaluation and diagnosis. In this present case, severe occlusal wear was found in the labial surfaces of mandibular anterior teeth and palatal surfaces of maxillary anterior teeth. Occlusal vertical dimension was evaluated and decided to be regained due to insufficient amount of restorative space. After determining new occlusal vertical dimension, diagnostic wax-up is usually performed to continue prosthodontic treatment. In this case with collapsed occlusion and loss of occlusal vertical dimension, conventional diagnostic wax-up was replaced with various digital devices. Diagnostic wax-up was digitally performed in the software and provisional prosthesis was fabricated with digital tools. With verification with provisional prosthesis, the entire dentition was rehabilitated with newly set occlusal vertical dimension and proper anterior guidance.

  • Early interceptive orthodontic interventions are often started in the developing dentition to guide normal occlusion. The simplest way to prevent eruption failure from deciduous tooth loss is to fix a space maintainer such as a band and loop. Band and loop space maintainer has several problems like cement loss, demineralization, locking of the adjacent tooth, and needs to take a pickup impression of the band. Computer-assisted design/computer-assisted manufacturing (CAD/CAM) space maintainer without band was developed to solve these problems. This case report describes successful eruption of the mandibular second premolar using CAD/CAM without a band.

  • Loss of multiple teeth by multiple dental caries, traumatic influence or hereditable disease can cause many problem in children. Using removable appliance can be used for treatment of this problem. But conventional removable appliance has limits of retention by wire-clasp, non esthetic appearance, difficulty in pronunciation by its volume. Flexible denture using $Valplast^{(R)}$ system could be a excellent partial denture for restorarion in child because of various advantage such as retention from soft tissue, natural esthetic aspect, biocompatibility, durability to compare with conventional acrylic appliance. The present case report describe properties and consideration of flexible denture using Valplast $system^{(R)}$ in comparison with conventional acrylic appliance and report successful restoration of child using Valplast $system^{(R)}$.

Factors affecting the resilience of dental hygienists' interpersonal relationships, job satisfaction, and organizational commitment (치과위생사의 인간관계능력, 직무만족 및 조직몰입이 회복탄력성에 영향을 미치는 요인)

  • Objectives: This study is a descriptive analysis to identify factors that affect dental hygienists' flexibility by investigating the correlation between dental hygienists' interpersonal relationships, job satisfaction, organizational commitment, and resilience. Methods: Data were collected from October 8 to 22, 2018 using a structured questionnaire that was administered to 132 dental hygienists working in dental clinics and dental hospitals in Busan, Ulsan, and Gyeongsangnam-do. The collected data were analyzed using descriptive statistics, an independent sample t-test, one-way ANOVA, correlation analysis, and multiple regression analysis using SPSS 24.0 program. Results: First, the interpersonal relationships, job satisfaction, organizational commitment, and resilience of dental hygienists were all found above average. Second, the resilience of dental hygienists showed a significant positive correlation with interpersonal relationships (r=0.719, p<0.001), job satisfaction (r=0.328, p<0.001), and organizational commitment (r=0.519, p<0.001). Third, interpersonal relationships (t=9.87, p<0.001) and organizational commitment (t=3.30, p<0.01) were significant factors affecting the resilience of dental hygienists. Conclusions: In order to improve the resilience of dental hygienists, it is necessary to explore various ways to enhance their interpersonal relationships and organizational commitment. Furthermore, this study intends to provide basic data that are necessary for establishing a human resources management strategy for dental institutions to create a desirable organizational culture.

  • Orthodontic treatment is obviously the first choice to get aligned teeth cause of conservative treatment. But it is impossible to get highly esthetic result only orthodontic treatment in case of peg lateralis, discrepancy tooth size, discolored teeth or fractured teeth. As all treatment does, especially in esthetic treatment it is always required interdisciplinary diagnosis and treatment plan; orthodontics, periodontology, prothetics, implant therapy. As also, the treatment should be maintained long-term treatment with stable and harmonious state by esthetic satisfaction and functional occlusion those who needs various dental care as interdisciplinary treatment. This case is the laminate treatment with the orthodontic treatment on 37 ages/ Female patient who has cross bite at anteriors and premolar area and abrasion on centralis at right maxilla. By orthodontic treatment aligned teeth positions, it makes functional occlusion. As laminate treatment with minimum teeth preparation is able to release anterior esthetics. Follow up check for 2 years has been performed since the final prosthetics delivery to the patient. No sign of relapse, fracture of laminate were detected.

  • Using computer-aided design and manufacturing technique improve quality of treatment in many aspect. This case reports the complete mouth rehabilitation of a patient with amelogenesis imperfecta utilizing digital technology. Clinical examination revealed loss of mastication due to insufficient occlusal stop, missing teeth, interdental spacing due to microdontia, insufficient overbite, and etc. Full veneer crowns for teeth were selected, followed by a fixed partial denture and implant placement was done using CAD-CAM guide template with bone graft for partially edentulous space. Definitive restorations were duplicated by double scanning provisional restorations and successfully delivered to the patient. These full mouth rehabilitation procedures resulted in satisfactory outcomes for the patient functionally and aesthetically.

  • Patients who lost molars from dental caries or periodontitis have difficulty in maintaining their vertical dimension because their incisors and premolars also show vertical tooth movement. Missing posterior molars leads to occlusal interference and collapse of occlusal plane due to extrusion of opposite teeth and tipping of adjacent teeth. When this condition persists over long time, mandible moves forward, so it causes mobility and labioversion of upper incisors. This progress cannot be stopped spontaneously and the situation gets worse and worse. Therefore, for a patient with pathologic teeth migration caused by chronic periodontitis, interdisciplinary approach which is including periodontal treatment, orthodontic teeth alignment and prosthetic restoration of missing molars is required. This case report shows successful multidisciplinary approach to a patient who lost vertical dimension due to severe dental caries and periodontitis.

  • Cracked teeth are a common problem with incomplete fracture that typically shows pain on biting and temperature stimuli. The most common cause of crack is known to be the masticatory accident. Predisposing factors were aging, old restoration, and iatrogenic stress concentration, etc. Accurate diagnosis is needed for detecting the extent of crack and pulp vitality. There are many diagnostic tools like bite test, direct observation with transillumination, dye penetration, and radiographs. Immediate treatment for pain relief and occlusal adjustment would be needed. Composite resin and bonded amalgam showed favorable prognosis. Moreover, cusp protection is reliable permanent treatment for cracked teeth. The purpose of this article is to review the literature about the prevention, diagnosis, and treatment for cracked teeth.
