  • This study intends to figure out the variables affecting the degree of female undergraduates' perceived risk of smoking and utilize them as foundational data for educating them to quit smoking. Thereupon, it conducted a self-administered survey from May 18 till 25 of 2009 to 231 female undergraduates attending S University located in Gyeonggi-do. The study tool contains 19 items of general characteristics and 8 of the degree of perceived risk of smoking. The data collected were analyzed by SPSS program, and the following results were gained. 1. According to the result on the degree of female undergraduates' perceived risk of smoking, the degree was shown high as the average was 4.32 among the perfect score of 5; thus, the degree of perceived risk of smoking was high. 2. In terms of the household economic level, female undergraduates with the lower economic level indicated the higher degree of perceived risk of smoking. There existed significant difference by their economic level (F=7.14, p<.01). 3. In regard of whether the female undergraduate smokes or not, the non-smoker perceives the degree of risk of smoking more highly than the smoker does; there is significant difference by whether they smoke or not (t=-2.43, p<.05). 4. About the number of friends who smoke, female undergraduates with one smoking friend show the highest degree of perceived risk of smoking. Those haying three or more smoking friends indicate the low degree of perceived risk of smoking. There exists significant difference by the number of smoking friends they have (F=3.14, p<.05). 5. According to the degree of perceived risk of smoking by their school life satisfaction, the female undergraduates expressing 'dissatisfaction' show the highest degree of perceived risk of smoking while 'satisfaction' indicates the average level. This was statistically significant difference (F=4.81, p<.01). Therefore, it is thought that it will be necessary to develop programs based on this research which can allow female undergraduates to team the importance of quitting smoking and actively participate in the education for it.

From January 19 to March 1, 2017, the 218 data were collected from university students in Jeonnam, who don't have any parity and uterus disease. Analyzed using Mann-Whitney U test, simple regression analysis with SPSS23. As a result, there was a statistically significant positive correlation between stress and premenstrual syndrome($R^2=.155$, ${\beta}=.393$, p<.001). But, there was no difference in PMS level according to existence of drinking(or smoking) experience. This study had a meaningful result to figure out factors influencing on female college student PMS and offered basic data for developing premenstrual syndrome care programs and nursing intervention. To manage PMS effectively, it is nessasary to develop Convergence Nursing intervention to reduce stress.

We selected 320 students from 6 Universities located in Seoul, Chungchung-do and Gangwon-do by convenience random sampling and received IRB from Y Univ. 299 students were included in the final analysis using logistic regression. Among 299 students, 60.2% of students reported to have sexual experience. The result of analyzing the related factors to sexual experience revealed that the students who were having friends who had sexual experience, smokers and those who were high grade, had significantly more sexual experience. According to the results of this study, there should be an intensive and female tailed sexual related program development for the University students, especially for smokers and including smoking cessation program. The data were analysed by the SPSS/PC+ program. The results were as follows 1. There was no statistically significant difference of menstrual discomfort level among the active smokers, those who passively inhaled others smoke, and who did not inhale others smoke(F= 2.613, p= .075). 2. The mean score of menstrual discomfort was moderate(M= 60.8008, SD= 17.9243). The level of menstrual discomfort was various (minimum score 29.00- maximum score 110.0). 3. Factors influencing menstrual discomfort were on life stress events(F= 4.057, p = .045), irregular menstrual cycle(t = 3.968, p = .047), and amount of flow during menstruation(F = 4.018, p = .019). The recommendations from this study are necessity of further studies to investigate how heavy active and passive smoking have effect on menstrual discomfort.

  • The purpose of the study was to investigate social support, depression, drinking and smoking in college and working females. The convenience sample consisted of 169 college females and 133 working females. Data were collected from March to May, 2000. Social support was measured by the 6-item Social Support Questionnaire which assesses the size of the emotional social support network and satisfaction with social support. The Center for Epidemiologic Studies Depression scale was utilized to measure the level of depression symptoms. The average number of drinks and cigarettes smoked per week during the previous month was assessed. Results indicated that college students had more social support than working females. However, there were no significant differences in satisfaction with their support, depression, drinking and smoking between two groups. College females who smoked cigarettes were more depressed and had less social support than those who did not smoke. Also college females who drank alcohol were more depressed than those who did not drink during the previous month. However, the level of social support and depression were not associated with drinking and smoking among working females. Based on the results, it is suggested the application of various interventions to deal with drinking and smoking behavior among college and working females.
