  • There is the temporal correlation of the video sequence between the motion vector of current block and the motion vector of previous block. In this paper, we propose the prediction search algorithm for block matching using the temporal correlation of the video sequence and the center-biased property of motion vectors. The proposed algorithm determines the location of a better starting point for the search of an exact motion vector using the point of the smallest SAD(sum of absolute difference) value by the predicted motion vector from the same block of the previous frame and the predictor candidate point on each search region. Simulation results show that PSNR(Peak-to-Signal Noise Ratio) values are improved up to the 1.06㏈ as depend on the video sequences and improved about 0.19∼0.46㏈ on an average except the full search(FS) algorithm.

  • Typical Apriori-like methods for mining sequential patterns have some problems such as generating of many candidate patterns and repetitive searching of a large database. And PrefixSpan constructs the prefix projected databases which are stepwise partitioned in the mining process. It can reduce the searching space to estimate the support of candidate patterns, but the construction cost of projected databases is still high. For efficient sequential pattern mining, we need to reduce the cost to generate candidate patterns and searching space for the generated ones. To solve these problems, we proposed SuffixSpan(Suffix checked Sequential Pattern mining), a new method for sequential pattern mining, and show a formal approach to our method.

  • In this paper, there is suggested a fast intra prediction mode decision method in HEVC. To reduce the number of candidates in rough mode decision (RMD) process and rate-distortion optimization (RDO) process, the edge information and relative RMD cost are utilized. The experiment results show that the proposed method reduces encoding run-time by 26.81% with a negligible coding loss of 0.79% BD-rate on average.

  • This paper suggests the detecting method in which it uses the candidate symbol obtained through PI-SDR, the little computational complexity is required. By using the candidate symbol matrices obtained through PI-SDR, ZF and MMSE method was applied and the received signal was detected. The linear detecting method using PI-SDR candidate symbol is out of the performance than ML detecting method but the complexity is low. Because of using the symbol come close to the solution of ML, the proposed method's performance is better than the existing ZF and MMSE method.

  • As a greedy algorithm reconstructing the sparse signal from underdetermined system, orthogonal matching pursuit (OMP) algorithm has received much attention. In this paper, we multiple candidate matching pursuit (MuCaMP), which builds up candidate support set in every iteration and uses the minimum residual at last iteration. Using the restricted isometry property (RIP), we derive the sufficient condition for MuCaMP to recover the sparse signal exactly. The MuCaMP guarantees to reconstruct the K-sparse signal when the sensing matrix satisfies the RIP constant ${\delta}_{N+K}<\frac{\sqrt{N}}{\sqrt{K}+3\sqrt{N}}$. In addition, we show a recovery performance both noiseless and noisy measurements.

  • This paper proposes a real-time face detection system which detects multiple faces from low resolution video such as web-camera video. First, It finds face region candidates by using AdaBoost based object detection method which selects a small number of critical features from a larger set. Next, it generates reduced feature vector for each face region candidate by using principle component analysis. Finally, it classifies if the candidate is a face or non-face by using SVM(Support Vector Machine) based binary classification. According to experiment results, the proposed method achieves real-time face detection from low resolution video. Also, it reduces the false detection rate than existing methods by using PCA and SVM based face classification step.

  • In this paper, we propose an efficient soft decision decoding algorithm for linear block codes. A conventional soft decision decoder have to invoke a hard decision decoder several times to estimate its soft decision values. However, in this method, we may not have candidate codewords, thus it is very difficult to produce soft decision values. We solve this problem by introducing an efficient algorithm to search candidate codewords. By using this, we can highly reduce the cases we cannot find candidate codewords. We estimate the performance of the proposed algorithm by using the computer simulations. The simulation is performed for binary (63, 36) BCH code in fading channel.

  • We propose, in this paper, a new query expansion technique with term reweighting. All terms in the documents feedbacked from a user, excluding stopwords, are selected as candidate terms for query expansion and reweighted using the relevance degree which is calculated from the term-distribution similarity between a candidate term and each term in initial query. The term-distribution similarity of two terms is a measure on how similar their occurrence distributions in relevant documents are. The terms to be actually expanded are selected using the relevance degree and combined with initial query to construct an expanded query. We use KT-set 1.0 and KT-set 2.0 to evaluate performance and compare our method with two methods, one with no relevance feedback and the other with Dec-Hi method which is similar to our method. based on recall and precision.

  • As the TSP(Traveling Salesman Problem) belongs to the class of NP-complete problems, various techniques are required for finding optimum or near optimum solution to the TSP. This paper designs a distributed genetic algorithm in order to reduce the execution time and obtain more near optimal using multi-slave model for the TSP. Especially, distributed genetic algorithms with multiple populations are difficult to configure because they are controlled by many parameters that affect their efficiency and accuracy. Among other things, one must decide the number and the size of the populations (demes), the rate of migration, the frequency of migrations, and the destination of the migrants. In this paper, I develop random dynamic migration rate that controls the size and the frequency of migrations. In addition to this, I design new migration policy that selects the destination of the migrants among the slaves
