Group Classification on Management Behavior of Diabetic Mellitus (당뇨 환자의 관리행태에 대한 군집 분류)

  • The purpose of this study is to provide informative statistics which can be used for effective Diabetes Management Programs. We collected and analyzed the data of 666 diabetic people who had participated in Korean National Health and Nutrition Examination Survey in 2007 and 2008. Group classification on management behavior of Diabetic Mellitus is based on the K-means clustering method. The Decision Tree method and Multiple Regression Analysis were used to study factors of the management behavior of Diabetic Mellitus. Diabetic people were largely classified into three categories: Health Behavior Program Group, Focused Management Program Group, and Complication Test Program Group. First, Health Behavior Program Group means that even though drug therapy and complication test are being well performed, people should still need to improve their health behavior such as exercising regularly and avoid drinking and smoking. Second, Focused Management Program Group means that they show an uncooperative attitude about treatment and complication test and also take a passive action to improve their health behavior. Third, Complication Test Program Group means that they take a positive attitude about treatment and improving their health behavior but they pay no attention to complication test to detect acute and chronic disease early. The main factor for group classification was to prove whether they have hyperlipidemia or not. This varied widely with an individual's gender, income, age, occupation, and self rated health. To improve the rate of diabetic management, specialized diabetic management programs should be applied depending on each group's character.

Relationship between Warfarin Related Knowledge, Self Efficacy and Medication Adherence of Patient with Prosthetic Heart Valve Replacement (인공심장판막치환 환자의 와파린 관련 지식, 자기효능감 및 약물복용이행도의 관계)

  • The purpose of this study is to explore the relationship between warfarin-related knowledge, self-efficacy, and medication adherence among patients who underwent heart valve replacement surgery. The patients who underwent heart valve surgery and warfarin therapy were included in this study. The data was collected by administering questionnaires, and the data was then analyzed using the SPSS WIN 22.0 program. There was a positive relationship between warfarin-related knowledge and the adherence to medication (r=.285, p=004). Medication adherence was also positively correlated with warfarin-related knowledge (r=.250, p=.046) and self-efficacy (r=.292, p=.019) for elderly patients under 70 years of age. Further, medication adherence of elderly patients over 70 years of age was correlated with only warfarin-related knowledge (r=.358, p=.032). The results of this study show that in order to improve medication adherence, elderly people should be provided with warfarin-related knowledge through individually tailored education and nursing interventions that strengthen self-efficacy, as well as the knowledge that is needed in the elderly group under 70 years old.

A Study on the Effects of Socioeconomic Traits on Local Resident Education in Slow City (슬로시티 지역주민의 인구사회학적 특성이 지역주민교육에 미치는 영향)

  • The concept of the Slow City originates from the philosophy that seeks nature and a human-centric lifestyle. The objective of this study is to provide education for local residents in the socioeconomic traits of Slow City. For this study, 445 residents were surveyed about the concept of the Slow City. Using the survey results, t-test and regression analyses were conducted to find areas of improvement by considering the significance and effect level. The purpose of this study is to suggest a strategy of education for local residents based on the effect of socioeconomic traits on the residents' attitude and education satisfaction. The findings showed that local residence is more influential on the residents' attitude than age, income and education and that the number of participations in the education did not affect education satisfaction. This result suggests that more reinforced and improved local resident education should be offered for the Slow City education of residents. This study provides a convenient set of indicators for a strategic focus to develop education programming and policy for Slow City residents.

A Node Relocation Strategy of Trajectory Indexes for Efficient Processing of Spatiotemporal Range Queries (효율적인 시공간 영역 질의 처리를 위한 궤적 색인의 노드 재배치 전략)

  • The trajectory preservation property that stores only one trajectory in a leaf node is the most important feature of an index structure, such as the TB-tree for retrieving object's moving paths in the spatio-temporal space. It performs well in trajectory-related queries such as navigational queries and combined queries. But, the MBR of non-leaf nodes in the TB-tree have large amounts of dead space because trajectory preservation is achieved at the sacrifice of the spatial locality of trajectories. As dead space increases, the overlap between nodes also increases, and, thus, the classical range query cost increases. We present a new split policy and entry relocation policies, which have no deterioration of the performance for trajectory-related queries, for improving the performance of range queries. To maximally reduce the dead space of a non-leaf node's MBR, the Maximal Area Reduction (MAR) policy is used as a split policy for non-leaf nodes. The entry relocation policy induces entries in non-leaf nodes to exchange each other for the purpose of reducing dead spaces in these nodes. We propose two algorithms for the entry relocation policy, and evaluate the performance studies of new algorithms comparing to the TB-tree under a varying set of spatio-temporal queries.

An Efficient Location Management Scheme for High-speed Mobile Nodes (고속으로 이동하는 노드들을 위한 효율적인 위치 갱신 기법)

  • Recently, a location management is being more important in mobile communication systems due to an explosive increase of mobile users. Current systems have used a concept of location area. Based on this concept, a mobile user performs a location update whenever it moves into a new location area. However, this scheme can not avoid unnecessary location updates when a mobile user moves around with high movement rate as compared to call arrival rate. That results in tremendous location management cost. To overcome this drawback, our proposal divides service areas into two sets: One is a set of areas that mobile users move with high speed and another is a set of areas that they move with low speed. After establishing these two sets, this paper employs different location tracking schemes for each sets. Generally, most mobile users with high speed have a low CMR and a regular direction until they arrive at their destination. Using such the moving behavior, systems can predict a mobile user's next location area in advance. When the mobile user moves into the predicted location, our proposal does not perform a location update. Thus, it can reduce overall location management cost. The Markov model is used to analyze the performance of our proposal. Using the model, this paper compares our proposal with IS-41 and TLA. The analytic results show that as CMR grows lower, an overall cost of our proposal becomes less, particularly if a mobile user frequently moves into the specific location are predicted by mobile systems. Also, our proposal has a better performance than other two schemes when the communication cost between HLR and VLR is high.

The effect of parental social support on the transition to college life and career identity of nursing undergraduate college students (간호대학생 부모의 사회적 지지가 대학생활적응 및 진로정체감에 미치는 영향)

  • The purpose of this study was to examine influential factors for the transition to college life and career identity of nursing students and what changes social support from parents brought about to them by academic year. The subjects in this study were 542 selected students who majored in nursing in four-year universities located in Seoul and the provinces. A self-administered survey was conducted to find out their general characteristics, social support from fathers and mothers, college adjustment and career identity. A hierarchical regression analysis was made to determine how social support from parents affected the college adjustment and career identity of the nursing students. Social support from parents had an impact on their college adjustment and career identity. The factors that affected college adjustment were academic year, satisfaction level with major and emotional support from mothers, and the factors that impacted on career identity were academic year, satisfaction level with major and informative support from fathers. In order to facilitate the college adjustment of nursing students, professors should try to develop efficient learning methods, meet with parents to inform them of the necessity of social support, share information on the major field of study and learning methods, and provide an opportunity for students to communicate with graduates or students who are years ahead of them in college so that they could have a better understanding of majoring in nursing.

CMF-based Priority Processing Method for Multi-dimensional Data Skyline Query Processing in Sensor Networks (센서 네트워크에서 다차원 데이터 스카이라인 질의 처리를 위한 CMF 기반의 우선처리 기법)

  • It has been studied to support data having multiple properties, called Skyline Query. The skyline query is not exploring data having all properties but only meaningful data, when we retrieve informations in large data base. The skyline query can be used to provide some information about various environments and situations in sensor network. However, the legacy skyline query has a problem that increases the number of comparisons as the number of sensors are increasing in multi-dimensional data. Also important values are often omitted. Therefore, we propose a new method to reduce the complexity of comparison where the large number of sensors are placed. To reduce the complexity, we transfer a CMF(Category Based Member Function) which can identify preference of specific data when interest query from sync-node is transferred to sub-node. To show the validity of our method, we analyzed the performance by simulations. As a result, it showed that the time complexity was reduced when we retrieved information in multiple sensing data and omitted values are detected by great dominance Skyline.

A Study on the Thermal Characteristics of a Coupler to Improve the Performance of Electrodeless Lamp (무전극 램프의 성능 향상을 위한 커플러의 열특성 연구)

  • The thermal characteristics of the electrodeless lamp are one of the main factors that determine the design and performance of the lamp. The coupler changes the impedance characteristic by heat and its use temperature is usually within about $150^{\circ}C$. In this study, we observed the phenomenon when the coupler was exposed at a temperature of $150^{\circ}C$ or higher, which has not been discussed so far. Two types of coupler A and coupler B with different spacing between the inner tube and the coupler were analyzed for electrical, thermal and optical properties and deterioration characteristics with different heat and heat shielding conditions. First, the impedance of the system is obtained and used as a criterion for analyzing the electrical characteristics through it. The diameters of the two types of couplers are 1 mm, and the experimental result shows that the coupler diameter is 1 mm, which can cancel out the loss of the magnetic field strength. Therefore, based on these results, when the coupler is exposed to high temperature of about $200^{\circ}C$, the efficient design method corresponding thereto is proposed.

  • The X-ray unit developed by this study is to diagnose emergency cases which is too far from a hospital and to classify the patients. We have to use the X-ray in a ambulance or the scene of an accident where we cannot use the AC220 outlet because of the distance from a hospital as well. The X-ray unit developed has a characteristics as follows. First of all, as the unit has a condenser in itself where there is no electric supply, we can use the X-ray inspector in a mountain area or a island. Second, we can detect by digital detector the information taken by X-ray from DC 12[V] electricity and store as a form of file. A control circuit can secure the reliability of the X-ray unit by using the Pic16F84A X-ray and provide various functions. The X-ray unit which suits remote emergency system can be efficiently used for the emergent cases who is too far from a doctor and a hospital or in the situation where it is difficult to diagnose, transcribe and treat simultaneously.

A Study on Environmental Monitoring of Fluorouracil and Decontamination Reagents (Fluorouracil의 환경감시 및 제거약제에 관한 연구)

  • This study has been to examine the occupational exposure levels of Fluorouracil (5-FU) in a hospital and to investigate the most effective cleaning reagent for control. Fluorouracil is one of the cytotoxic drugs which are therapeutic agents used to treat cancer. The health practitioners working in the cytotoxic work room and oncology ward areas are exposed to adverse health risks like cytogenetic and DNA damage from cytotoxic drugs exposure by frequent skin contact from contaminated surfaces. Four kinds of cleaning reagents has been examined to degrade the 5-FU. It was found that 5-FU was only degraded soon after the reaction in 0.5%(w/v) NaClO solution. Therefore, 0.5%(w/v) NaClO solution has been chosen to decompose any residues on the contamination surfaces. A substantial level of contamination was found on the surfaces of cytotoxic work room and oncology ward areas. The contamination ranges of the surfaces in cytotoxic work room and oncology ward areas were from 2.0 to $13.8{\mu}g/m^2$ and 5.39 to $11.53{\mu}g/m^2$ respectively. Consequently, regulation of the occupational exposure limit, procedure of special cleaning, and the use of personal protective equipment are recommended during the manipulation and administration of the drugs to avoid skin contamination from cytotoxic drugs like 5-FU.
