  • This paper reports on Pb and Cd concentrations in the tissues of 76 individuals of 16 rare bird species found dead across Korea. In most of species, Pb concentration was higher in kidney and bone than in liver. The range of the mean liver Pb was 0.47 (Cygnus cygnus)∼3.74 ㎍/wet g (Asio flammeus). Based on hepatic Pb concentrations, 39 (51.3%) of the 76 individuals were classifed as background level (〈2㎍/wet g), 35 (46.1%) were elevated level (〉2㎍/wet g) and 2 (2.6%) were poisoned level (〉10㎍/wet g). These results were indicated many rare birds were suffered from chronic Pb exposure. Cd concentration was generally higher in kidney than in liver and bone. The range of the mean kidney Cd was 0.06 (Bubo bubo)∼l.75㎍/wet g (falco subbuteo). Only one of the 76 individuals had elevated Cd concentration (〉2.7㎍/wet g) in kidney. These results indicated most of rare birds had low Cd accumulations.

  • This study examined convergence factors influencing the job embeddedness of nurses in general hospitals. Data were collected using a structured questionnaire. Data were analyzed using t-test, ANOVA, Pearson's correlation coefficient, and multiple regression. The job embeddedness in participants showed a significant correlation between job stress (r=-.50, p<.001), meaning of work (r=.70, p<.001), and calling (r=.58, p<.001). The significant factors influencing the job embeddedness were meaning of work (${\beta}=.57$, p<.001) and job stress (${\beta}=-.19$, p=.008); these factors explained 51.2% of the variance. Based on these findings, nursing college need to develop a curriculum to foster meaning of work and calling in clinical practice courses and to remain nurses.

  • The small brown planthopper, Laodelphax striatellus (Fall$\acute{e}$n) (SBPH) is one of the important rice pests in Korea, which transmits rice stripe virus (RSV) to rice. This pest is an indigenous species in Korea and has also known to migrate from China to the western coastal areas of Korea. This study was conducted to investigate the wing morphs of SBPH and its parasitism rate of Haplogonatopus atratus Esaki et Hashimoto in Korea. In 2014, SBPH were collected in April and July from 16 sites throughout South Korea and their wing morphs and parasitism rates were measured under the microscope. Percentage of brachypterous male in July was significantly declined compared to that in April, while that of brachypterous female did not change. A positive relationship was found between latitude and percentage of brachypterous adults in April. Parasitism rate of both nymphs and adults were higher in April than July. In addition, nymphal parasitism rate was generally higher in western coastal areas.

  • This study aims to find out the employment effectiveness of employment preparation activities that college students experience, especially focused on analyzing employment effects of college employment-related activities such as career choice and employment support program, along with individual preparation activities such as qualification, vocational training, etc. It performed binary logistic regression analysis using 2011 Graduates Occupational Mobility Survey data of 3,249 college graduates. The results showed that In college characteristics, the higher grade point average was and the more college was located in non-metropolitan area, the higher employment probability was. In the case of major field, Medicine, Education, Engineering, Social Science, Natural science in highest first order had employment probability higher than the reference group. The results showed that the number of qualification, interview skill & resume description skill program participation, and job search experience before and after graduation among employment preparation activities had an effect on employment. The rest, that is, vocational training, career employment curriculum, work experience program, career counseling program, employment camp, in-school job experience, employment goal status before graduation did not have an direct effect on employment.

  • Objectives: While the proportion of the non-regular workers youth increases in labor market, the differential conditions of temporary employee are increased. Methods: Research objects were 4,322 youth (from 15 to 29) among members of workers who responded to 2014 PSWCI panel report. Statistical analyses were performed using the SAS version 9.4 (SAS Institute Inc., Cary, NC, USA). Data were analyzed using frequency test, t-test, ANOVA and multiple regression. Results: According to results of analysis, youth had differences in youth temporary workers, working conditions, classification of occupation, working period, and health conditions based on work-time conditions. Conclusions: Youth workers, policies on working hours will need to take steps toward reducing working hours and improve a health promoting hierarchy for work environment.

  • Volume increment and estimation of future growth of pitch pine stand at age of 16 were analyzed based on the stand table method. The diameter growth survey was made by the Meyer's Increment Borer method which was based on the volume formular made on the single tree volume. The formular is V=0.000058D $^{1.6}{\times}H^{1.1}$ This survey was made based on the 95% reliability surveyed on the 339 trees in the 0.33ha of sample plot espicially set up. (1) Linear regression over annual diameter growth for the diameter is as follows; y=0.1618+0.0298x (2) Ninety percent of the total trees, in the diameter distribution of 2cm round off, each increased one step in diameter. (3) Stand volume increment percentage shows 16%. (4) The increment of stand volume for 5 years shows 46% of increment rate.

  • This study was conducted to identify the relationships among professional self-concept, academic self-efficacy and major satisfaction in nursing students. Data were collected from 137 nursing students by means of self reported questionnaires about professional self-concept, academic self-efficacy, and major satisfaction from October 19 to 23, 2017. The data was analyzed using descriptive statistics, Pearson correlation coefficients, and multiple regression. There were significant correlations among professional self-concept, academic self-efficacy, and major satisfaction. Predictor that has an effect on major satisfaction was professional self-concept among nursing students. This factor explains thirty-six percentile of total variances of major satisfaction. This study suggests that professional self-concept is positively influenced on major satisfaction. To enhance major satisfaction for nursing students, it is necessary to develop specific course or training program in curriculum for increasing professional self-concept.

  • The purpose of this study is to find out how pre-service mathematics teachers should prepare for the teaching of probability and statistics in school mathematics and to help improve teacher education. To do this, questionnaires and evaluation of probabilistic and statistical curriculum were conducted for pre-service teachers, and regression analysis and correlation between them were examined. Through the investigation, the items with low evaluation results due to level of difficulty were extracted and analyzed. As a result, first, it is necessary to teach pre-service mathematics teachers with link the contents curriculum of college and secondary school about probability and statistics. Second, accurate diagnosis of pre-service mathematics teachers' understanding of probability and statistics is needed. Third, the misconceptions and causes of pre-service mathematics teachers were analyzed in detail. And suggests that various follow-up studies related to this are needed.
