Recently, companies are growing by introducing rational and optimized technology for all processes, including design. In particular, the emergence of ICT-based cloud platforms has given rise to solutions that are equipped with all the necessary business services in corporations and schools, affecting technical education and corporate growth that have not been experienced thus far. The virtual reality technology and convergence of HMD devices utilizing this platform is a new turning point in corporate development. Therefore, this study tested the VR functions used in design based on 3DEXP and HMD VR devices. Second, design utilization and this issue were examined through a survey based on the experimental data. The results showed that 3DEXP and HMD VR technologies are closely related in terms of design utilization and have demonstrated their mediated effects through statistical analysis. Nevertheless, it is not enough to generalize some engineering students as a result of the study. On the other hand, the introduction of HMD VR technology is one of the pillars of education and the implementation of virtual reality technology.

In the knowledge-based economy, firms are increasingly exploiting their intellectual properties, especially patents. However, firms usually fail to commercialize all of their patents and some of them are not used even for strategic purposes. Therefore managing sleeping patents constitutes one important aspect of firms' overall patent strategies. This paper considers market uncertainty, technology uncertainty and strategic uncertainty as the reasons for sleeping patents. We analyze how firms' patent-related activities can reduce sleeping patent ratios. The firms' activities examined in here are patent audit, preliminary evaluation, prior art and cooperation. Noticing the prevalence of sleeping patents, this paper contributes by providing insights into how firm's activities affect the sleeping patent ratios. Insights for practitioners and policy makers have been provided from the empirical results.

In this study, a comparison has been made among the countries regarding recent ICT practices being performed based on the measures of relative efficiency and productivity growth that use multiple inputs and outputs. Efficiency measures a country's ICT performance relative to a benchmark at a given point of time and productivity measures a country's performance over a period of time. An output-oriented Data Envelopment Analysis and Malmquist Index has been used for comparison among 28 countries over the period 2008-2011 by incorporating 9 variables. The empirical findings disclose gross inefficiencies in national ICT practices, which show that there is room for enhancing output gains through increased efficiency in their operations. In addition, 13 countries have performed better than others in total factor productivity mainly because of their improvement in the underlying technological progress in ICT. For those technically inefficient countries, however, technical inefficiency may hamper the growth of total factor productivity of ICT practices.

공공기술을 활용한 스케일업(Scale-up)이 기업의 새로운 성장 전략으로 주목받고 있다. 스케일업의 사전적 의미는 '규모 확대'다. 기술, 제품, 서비스, 경영 등 기업의 외형과 내실이 크게 개선되거나 그에 상응하는 성과 창출의 뜻이 담겨있다. 기업가치 10억 달러($1 billion) 이상, 설립된 지 10년 이하로 통칭되는 유니콘(Unicorn) 기업의 등장이 스케일업에 대한 관심으로 옮겨 붙은 양상이다. 스케일업은 이러한 차원에서 고성장 기업을 통칭하는 말로 쓰인다. 국가별로 차이는 있지만 직원 수 10명 이상, 최근 3년간 매출이나 연평균 고용 성장률이 20% 이상인 기업을 스케일업으로 정의한다. 문제는 미국과 같은 선진기업 환경에서는 핵심 기술이나 신성장 동력 확보차원에서 다양한 기업인수합병(M&A)이 추진되거나 오픈 이노베이션(Open Innovation, 개방형 혁신) 방식의 기업간 기술협력이 활발히 일어나고 있지만 우리나라는 상대적으로 그러하지 못하다는데 있다. 결과적으로 국내 기업 환경과 사회적 분위기를 감안해 공공연구기관으로부터 기술을 이전받거나 연구개발특구진흥재단이 추진하는 연구소기업 제도를 활용한 스케일업의 중요성이 커지고 있다. 4차산업 시대를 맞아 기업간 합종연횡이 더욱 빈번하고 일어나고 기술간 융복합이 가속화되는 지금의 상황에 비춰볼 때 공공기술을 활용한 연구소기업들의 다양한 스케일업 사례는 우리에게 많은 시사점을 안겨준다. 기업성장을 위한 새로운 전략적 도구로 활용될 소지가 충분하다고 판단된다.

The Korean government provides a variety of supporting programs with firms to promote technological innovation which is a main driver of economic growth. The existing literature on technological innovation has mainly focused on analysis about determinants of successful innovation and effectiveness of a specific policy measure. However, there is no study deals with characteristics of policy demanders. For this, this study investigates the relationship between barriers and policy measures in technological innovation using the logistic regression analysis method with raw data of Korean Innovation Survey (KIS). The findings from this analysis show that barriers of technological innovation are meaningful variables to determining whether firms adopt a policy measure, although there are some differences according to policy types. Cost barriers increased the probability that firms adopt support programs regardless of policy types. Also, the more firms encounter cooperation barriers, the more likely firms utilize supporting programs in regard to technological advice and information.

산업용 플라즈마를 구성하는 입자의 온도는 기계분야에서 흔히 다루는 온도보다 매우 높은 수천에서 수만 K에 이르는 탓에 플라즈마 기술은 기계분야와는 다소 거리가 있는 것처럼 인식될 수 있다. 그러나 150여 년 전부터 플라즈마 기술은 기계기술과 밀접하게 연계되어 활용되어 왔으며, 향후에는 플라즈마 기술과 기계기술이 더욱 융합되어 새로운 기술이 출현될 것으로 전망되고 있다.

본 연구에서는 휴대용 전화기 및 무선 LAN 의 핵심부품인 RF-Switch Module의 초소형화 설계기술, 표면실장기술, 고주파설계기술, 소형화 SMD기술, Test 기술 및 RF-Switch Module 활용기술 등을 개발하였으며 RF-Switch Module의 설계기반 마련 및 대외 경쟁력 있는 RF-Switch Module의 초소형화 기술을 확보하였다.

올해부터 가축분뇨는 해양투기가 전면 중단되고 육상에서 처리됨에 따라 가축분뇨액비의 자원화가 더욱 절실히 요구되고 있다. 가축분뇨액비의 품질을 향상시키고 작물재배 활용기술의 조기정착을 통한 자연순환농업을 실천하여 화학비료 사용량을 줄이고 환경오염을 방지한다.

생명과학의 꽃으로 불리우는 게놈(genome)연구가 활기를 띠고 있다. 1990년 30억달러를 투입, 15년 계획으로 착수된 인간 게놈 연구가 급진전되는가 하면 동물과 식물 게놈 연구의 경우, 활용시대를 열고 있다. 의학에서 축산업과 농업 분야에 일대 혁명을 불러일으킬 게놈 연구의 현황과 활용전망을 점검해 본다.
