This study developed elementary and middle school career education programs linked to science subjects and local natural resources, and explored learning effects and implications for developing and operating career programs. In order to achieve the research purpose, a 10-hour career education program using local natural and social resources was developed and applied to 25 elementary and middle school students in rural areas. As a result of the study, most of the elementary and middle school students who participated in this study were not well aware of the natural and social resource value of the area where they lived. Therefore, when developing and operating a regional-based career education program for elementary and middle school students in rural areas, it is necessary to operate a separate teaching/learning activity time so that students can fully know the natural and social information and resource values of the region. In addition, in order to enhance students' participation and interest in career education programs, it is necessary to organize the operation of the program in groups, not individuals, and to guide students in detail by dividing the program's performance process into several sub-steps. Finally, the core material of regional-linked career education-related programs focused more on their own content, that is, agricultural products grown by parents, and future job settings were higher in start-ups that directly operate companies such as travel agencies and manufacturing companies. Given the recent emphasis on career education in the curriculum, it is suggested that local students should pay more attention to finding materials with local resource value in the field of geoscience, which is closely related to natural resources, and developing and operating them as career education programs linked to local resources.

This study aims to examine the cases of overseas experience programs centered around middle school students in South Korea and to derive implications for future overseas experience programs. To achieve this, data were systematically collected through search engines based on keywords, followed by comparative analysis. Frequency analysis, independent sample t-tests, and cross-analysis were conducted using SPSS 23. The research findings are as follows: First, the programs are operated nationwide, with a focus on smaller schools in various regions, and are particularly active in the Jeolla provinces. Diverse public funding, such as from the board of education and local governments, has been invested, categorizing operational costs into full financial coverage among others. The programs primarily took place in Southeast Asian countries close to South Korea. Second, the purposes of these middle school overseas experience programs largely encompass career exploration, cultural experiences, tourism, and sister school visits. We hope that school-based overseas career exploration programs are actively operated to provide opportunities for enhancing global competence and global citizenship, as well as exploring career paths.
This study investigated when and how science gifted students decide their career planning. We used semi-structured survey and additional interviews from the students of Science High School in Daejeon area. We found 39.1% of science gifted students in 10th grade formed their career planning from their middle school periods. They had comparatively high levels of parenting support. The students chose their career fields based on their interests and aptitudes. However, some students were able to try and never give up with self confidence even when they had low scores, and teacher's reinforcements influenced positively. 71.3% of students thought that the grades take up the achievement of career development. Besides, the career programs which had specific purposes and directions were very effective by 33.3%~64.4%. Otherwise the effects were low as 2.3%~18.4%. Especially, R&E research programs didn't effect on students' career development and some students even frustrated with research. Based on the results, we need to reflect current career education and develop worthwhile career development programs for the science gifted students.

Free learning semester aims to foster key competencies in junior high students via reinforcing student participation and career education. This paper investigates the programs of school and public libraries, as well as the roles that university libraries and LIS could play in the changing educational environment. School libraries, though an essential element in the educational infrastructure, are seriously underused. In addition, the support programs of public libraries tend to focus on guest lectures or field trips, rather than reinforcing the students to experience the foundational library services. Public libraries are in a good position to play an active role in strengthening school libraries. They should take a proactive role in forming a partnership with university libraries, LIS faculty and students, and in developing diverse programs ranging from vocational/career education to enhancing key competencies.
This study purpose was to explore whether career maturity and parents-children relationship related factors were differentiated by giftedness, gender and secondary school level (research question 1). In addition, this study focused on the effects of parents-children relationship related factors on career maturity with a comparison on gifted and regular students (research question 2). The sample included 213 gifted middle school and high school students who participated in the Korean gifted education center and 243 regular students. Multivariate analysis of variance was conducted for research question 1, and hierarchical regression analysis was conducted for research question 2. The results of this study showed that (1) gifted students showed a higher level of career maturity, achievement expectation (parents-children relationship), respect (parents-children relationship), discussion and leisure (activity with parents), sharing ordinary life and communication (activity with parents), career support of parents compared to regular students ; (2) Girls showed higher level only in sharing ordinary life and communication compared to boys ; (3) middle school students more highly perceived the parents' achievement expectation and control, respect for parents, activities with parents (discussion and leisure, sharing ordinary life and communication) compared to high school students ; (4) the career support of parents was the strongest predictor of career maturity, and discussion and leisure was also a significant factor predictor of career maturity. Based on these results, it was suggested for parents to support their children's career maturity of both gifted and regular students by increasing frequencies of various activities shared with their children such as discussion and leasure.

This study seeks to explore high school students' changing attitudes toward science-related career choices with focus on the scientific career cultural capital perspective. We developed a questionnaire and surveyed female high school students. We used the survey results to explore the scientific career cultural capital factors and characteristics of the students who have chosen a science-related career. We selected twelve participants through science-related career choice type and then conducted in-depth interviews with them. Through the in-depth interviews, we explored how the factors of scientific career cultural capital affect the students' career choices. The result shows that the students developed internal resources through norms of obligation and reciprocity within the structure (family, school, community) based on external resources. The internal resources affected their science-related career choice. In elementary school, the students' interests in science and science-related occupations are the most influential in their choice of career directions. In high school, however, the students also considered career cognition, aptitude cognition, and career-value factors in their career choices. The interests in science were formed mainly due to education activity and daily-life activity. Over time, education activity's effect increased. The interests in science-related occupations were formed mainly due to daily-life activity during elementary school. In high school, the interests in science-related occupations formed due to diverse internal and external resources. Students who maintained a science-related career attracted external resources. Furthermore, they reinforced internal resources through interacting with various external resources. This study has implications for science education concerning students' science-related career choices.
