  • 3월 8일은 '세계 여성의 날' 이다. 1908년 당시 미국의 여성노동자들은 먼지 자욱한 현장에서 하루 12~14시간씩 일해야 했으나, 여성이라는 이유만으로 선거권과 노동조합 결성의 자유가 주어지지 않았다. 굶지 않기 위해 일하면서도 인간 이하의 삶을 강요받아야 했던 것이다. 그러던 1908년 3월 8일, 전 의류노동자들의 시위를 계기로 의류노동자연합이라는 조직이 탄생됐다. 이를 기념해 1911년부터 3월 8일을 '세계여성의 날'로 선정해 세계 곳곳에서 여성의 날 기념행사를 펼쳐오고 있다. 여성의 날에는 '그녀에게 빵과 장미를'이라는 구호를 외치는데, 여기서 빵은 생존을, 장미는 인간 존엄을 의미한다. 세계 여성의 날을 맞아 예전보다는 많이 호전됐지만 이직도 갈 길이 먼 여성경영활동 여건과 여성인쇄인에 대해 알아본다.

광양만의 유기주석화합물 오염과 생물농축

  • 유기주석화합물은 선박방오도료에 살생물제로 쓰이는 독성이 강한 물질로서 내분비계장애물질의 일종으로 알려지고 있다. 광양만에서 유기주석화합물의 오염현황을 파악하고자 표층퇴적물 및 생물체 중의 농도를 정성 및 정량분석하였으며, 생물에 미치는 영향을 파악하고자 복족류의 임포섹스(암컷에서 수컷의 성기가 발현되는 현상)를 측정하였다. 표층퇴적물 및 생물체 체내에서 phenyltin은 일부 정점을 제외하고는 모두 검출한계 이하의 값을 보였으나, butyltin은 대부분의 정점에서 검출되었다. 표층퇴적물, 참굴, 대수리 체내의 tributyltin (TBT)의 농도는 각각 미검출-29 ng/g, 178-2458 ng/g, 47-236 ng/g 범위를 보였다. TBT 화합물의 공간적인 분포는 선박활동과 밀접한 관련이 있었으며, 항구가 위치한 여수 인근을 제외하고는 광양내만에서 상대적으로 높은 값을 보였다. 한편 대수리 중의 임포섹스는 11개 정점에서 모두 관찰되었으며, 상대성기길이 지수는 47.9-107.8%의 범위를 보였다.

Construction of function graphs through turtle motion (거북 행동을 통한 함수 그래프 구성)

  • There are different perspectives on a function graph. For instance, a parabola is defined by movement of a ball in physics and by quadratic function in mathematics. This study deals with the turtle motion, which is local and intrinsic, and the construction of function graphs with mathematical experiments in a microworld. This paper concerns with a function graph which is in the curriculum or in the history of mathematics. In view of pre-calculus, we introduce activities of mathematization about formalizing of length and area of function graphs without knowledge of calculus.

  • 밤새 안녕히 주무셨습니까? 우리 풍속 중에서 이른 아침 동네 어르신네를 만나면 반드시 건네는 인사말이 있다. "밤새 안녕히 주무셨습니까?"가 그것이다. 이 인사말에는 중요한 의미가 내포돼 있다. 잠을 잘 잤는지에 대한 물음이 그것이다. 처음 만나 건네는 인사말에 지난 밤 잠을 잘 잤는지부터 물었던 것이다. 그만큼 잠을 잘 잔다는 것은 우리네 삶에서 중요한 의미를 가지고 있다. 우리는 인생의 1/3을 잠을 자는 데 소비한다. 어떤 사람은 그 시간이 아깝다고 아쉬워하기도 한다. 그러나 잠의 진정한 의미를 안다면 비록 인생의 1/3이란 적지 않은 시간을 잠을 자는데 소비하지만 결코 아깝지 않다는 것을 알게 될 것이다. 왜냐하면 잠을 잔다는 것은 그저 무의미한 시간의 보냄이 결코 아니다. 우리인체는 잠을 잠으로써 정상적인 생리과정을 유지할 수 있고 최상의 컨디션 또한 가질 수 있기 때문이다. 사람이 음식을 먹지 않는다면 1개월 혹은 그보다는 조금 더 오래 살 수 있지만 잠을 자지 못한다면 10일 내지 15일정도만 살 수 있는 것으로 밝혀져 있기도 하다. 이처럼 수면은 우리의 생명활동을 유지하는 데 있어서 반드시 필요한 것이며 잠을 잘자는 것은 건강징수로 가는 지금길이라고 할 수 있다.

A Study on Music Summarization (음악요약 생성에 관한 연구)

  • Music summarization means a technique which automatically generates the most importantand representative a part or parts ill music content. The techniques of music summarization have been studied with two categories according to summary characteristics. The first one is that the repeated part is provided as music summary and the second provides the combined segments which consist of segments with different characteristics as music summary in music content In this paper, we propose and evaluate two kinds of music summarization techniques. The algorithm using multi-level vector quantization which provides a repeated part as music summary gives fixed-length music summary is evaluated by overlapping ration between hand-made repeated parts and automatically generated summary. As results, the overlapping ratios of conventional methods are 42.2% and 47.4%, but that of proposed method with fixed-length summary is 67.1%. Optimal length music summary is evaluated by the portion of overlapping between summary and repeated part which is different length according to music content and the result shows that automatically-generated summary expresses more effective part than fixed-length summary with optimal length. The cluster-based algorithm using 2-D similarity matrix and k-means algorithm provides the combined segments as music summary. In order to evaluate this algorithm, we use MOS test consisting of two questions(How many similar segments are in summarized music? How many segments are included in same structure?) and the results show good performance.

A Study on the Peer Review Activity of Domestic Researchers in International Journals: Focused on Publons (국내 연구자의 국제 학술지 동료 심사 활동에 관한 연구 - Publons를 중심으로 -)

  • As a new academic publication model is attempted to improve the transparency, efficiency, and speed of scientific knowledge production and distribution, the open peer review platform for verification and openness of peer review history is also activated. Publons is a global platform for tracking, validating, disclosing, and recognizing the peer-reviewed histories of more than 3 million researchers worldwide. This study analyzed the review activities of 579 researchers from domestic universities who are actively reviewing international journals through Publons. As a result of the analysis, first, researchers from domestic universities who actively review international academic journals were found to be in the fields of medicine and electrical and electronics, and in most fields, assistant professors or higher with high WOS indexed research papers are participating. Second, there was a long-tail phenomenon in which a small number of reviewers with extremely high number of review papers existed in all academic fields, and there was no significant difference in the number of review papers and review report length depending on the nationality, academic status, and age of the reviewers. Lastly, although there was a weak correlation between the amount of papers reviewed by reviewers and the number of published papers, it was found that researchers with an extremely large number of reviews do not necessarily produce as many research papers.

Potential as a Geological Field Course of the Northwest Coast, Goheung Gun (고흥군 북서 해안의 지질학습장으로서의 활용가능성)

  • The aim of this study is to investigate the geological features distributed in the northwest coast, Goheung Gun as a geological field course of all levels. The study area is about 1.6km coast in direction of northwest from Sumundong ferry to Jangsun beach. The learning contents of the geology units in science textbooks from elementary school to high school was analyzed and, geomorphology and geology of study area was investigated for this study. In this study area, lots of geomorphology and geology elements related to the learning contents of the geology units in science textbooks were founded such as gravel beach, sea cliff, granite, rhyolite, andesite, gneiss, sedimentary rocks, fault, unconformity, stratification, cross bedding, graded bedding, intrusion structure, vein, dyke, plant fossil and spheroidal weathering. Characteristically, strata, stratification, granite, sedimentary rocks(conglomerate, sandstone, mudstone and shale), fault, plant fossil and weathering phenomenon were commonly involved with the learning contents of the geology units in elementary school science, middle school science and high school earth science I, II. This area is to be recommended as a site of geological field course for all students from elementary school to high school, as various field work materials for geological learning were distributed and, geological observation trail of about 400m in length for observation of strata and so on was installed along the coast in direction of the northwest from Sumundong ferry.

50 W 급 저전력 원통형 이온빔 소스의 개발 및 연구

  • 전기추력기는 화학식 추력기에 비해 비추력이 높아 인공위성의 자세제어, 궤도수정, 궤도천이를 포함한 행성 탐사활동 및 우주 임무수행을 위한 우주선의 엔진 등으로 다양하게 활용된다. 홀 추력기는 전기추력기 중 하나로 고리형 방전공간을 가진 고리형 추력기와 원통형 방전영역을 가진 원통형 추력기가 있으며, 원통형 추력기는 고리형에 비하여 넓은 방전공간으로 저전력 방전에 적합한 추력기이다. 또한, 저전력 추력기는 큐브셋(cubesat) 및 마이크로 위성(microsatellite)의 증가하는 수요에 따라 필요성이 증가하고 있으며, 활용도가 높아 다양하게 연구 및 개발되고 있다. 홀 추력기는 자기장과 전기장을 서로 수직되게 인가하여, 자화된 전자는 플라즈마 방전을 유지시키고 자화되지 않은 이온은 전기장 방향으로 가속되어 이온빔을 발생시킨다. 하지만, 저전력 소형 추력기는 작은 소모전력과 방전채널로 인한 성능 저하 및 자기장 구조 설계 등 많은 어려움들을 가지고 있다. 본 연구에서는, 약 50 W급의 소모전력을 바탕으로 영구자석을 이용한 저전력 플라즈마 추력기를 개발하였다. 방전 채널은 지름 15 mm, 길이 16 mm, 무게는 약 0.6 kg으로 원통형 구조의 채널로 제작되었으며, 약 1500-2000 G의 자기장 세기를 갖도록 설계하였다. 방전 기체는 제논을 사용하여 1-5 sccm영역에서 방전 특성을 살펴보았으며, 방전 전류는 0.02-0.4 A로 나타났다. 100-550 V영역에서 방전을 시도하였고, 채널길이를 16-24 mm 에서 약 1mN 급의 추력특성을 보였다. 본 발표에서, 홀 추력기의 제작 특성과 성능 및 플라즈마 특성에 대한 더 자세한 연구결과가 발표될 예정이다.

Development and Application of Vulnerability Analysis Index for River Levee (하천 제방의 취약성 분석 지수 개발 및 적용)

  • In this study, we propose a new method for evaluating the vulnerability to flooding river levee. The purpose of this study is to examine how to apply the factors necessary to calculate the proposed levee flood index. To do this, the safety flood level was analyzed by applying the planned flood level. The levee flood vulnerabilities index was calculated based on seven factors such as freeboard, levee crown section, levee section ratio, safety factor, raised spot length, Seepage line change degree, and critical velocity. The Levee Flood Vulnerability Index(LFVI) of the levee developed in this study was used to levee vulnerability analysis. The results of the analysis were divided into 1 to 7 grades using Levee Flood Vulnerability Index(LFVI).

Effect of Exercise Training following Hypokinesia on the Length and Circumference of Atrophied Soleus and Plantaris Muscle in Rats (활동저하후 회복기의 운동훈련이 쥐의 위축근의 길이와 둘레에 미치는 영향)

  • The purpose of this study was to determine the effect of exercise training on the length and circumference of atrophied muscles to see whether improvement in restoring the atrophied muscle mass, of either length or circumference growth could be induced through exercise training. Adult female Wistar rats were maintained for 14 days with hindlimb suspension. Rats were then assigned randomly to a sedentary group or training group. The length and circumference of both atrophied soleus and plantaris muscle for the training and sedentary groups following hindlimb suspension were compared with those of a control group. Length and circumference of both atrophied soleus and plantaris muscle in trained group was compared with those in the sedentary group. The results can be summarized as follows ; 1) Atrophy of soleus and plantaris muscle was induced with hindlimb suspension. 2) The circumference of both the soleus and plantaris muscle following hindlimb suspension was reduced to 51. 72%, 66.67% respectively compared to the control group. The length of both the soleus and plantaris muscle following hindlimb suspension did not show any difference compared to the control group. 3) There was no difference in length for either the atrophied soleus or plantaris muscle between the trained and the sedentary group during recovery from hindlimb suspension. 4) The circumference of both the atrophied soleus and plantaris muscle did not return to normal in the sedentary group, however, the circumference of both the atrophied soleus and plantaris muscle were significantly greater than of the control in the trained group, 14.22% and 9.38% respectively. 5) The circumference of both the atrophied soleus and plantaris muscle in the trained group was significantly larger than that of both muscles in the sedentary group at day 28 of recovery. From these results, it can be suggested that improvement in restoring the atrophied muscle mass through exercise training might be induced by growth of the muscle circumference.
