Development of Simultaneous Analysis Method for Dimenhydrinate Containing Complex Pharmaceuticals Using RP-HPLC (고성능 역상 액체 크로마토그래피(RP-HPLC)를 이용한 Dimenhydrinate 함유 복합제제의 동시분석법 개발)

  • In this study, a simultaneous analysis method was developed using reversed-phase high-performance liquid chromatography(RP-HPLC) for the main components of motion sickness medication: Dimenhydrinate, Caffeine, Methyl Paraben, and Propyl Paraben. The analysis was conducted after pretreating the four components, utilizing a C18 column with Acetonitrile and H2O as the mobile phase. UV detection was carried out at a wavelength of 254nm. As a result of the experiment, the values of Resolution(Rs) was well over Rs > 1.5, which indicates that the separation of the four components was efficient. Additionally, the symmetry factor of the components was 0.989, 1.120, 1.256, and 1.280, respectively, showing their symmetrical stability. In the stability assessment, the calibration curves for the four components showed excellent linearity with R2 > 0.9991 to 0.9998. Furthermore, the limit of detection(LOD) ranged between 0.017 to 3.060㎍/ml, while the limit of quantification(LOQ) ranged between 0.050 to 9.180 ㎍/ml. The recovery rates range from 98.28% to 101.71%, and repeatability showed precision within the range of 0.447 to 0.550, and robustness confirmed values with %RSD < 2. The quantitative analysis results of this study demonstrated the effectiveness of a simultaneous analysis method for motion sickness medication components.

Quality of Raw Ginseng and Quality Control of Ginseng Products (원료삼품질과 제품의 품질관리)

  • The seven traditional quality factors including age and root weight ect. were reviewed in relation to the chemical components as a new quality factor and pharmacological data. The other important factor, production place, appeared to be sum of the eight factors. The important of production place indicated that the best quality ginseng is produced in the optimum environment. The description of ginseng for medicinal use in present materia medica missed most traditional quality factors only indicating the change by processing. Such phenomena do not mean the significant of raw$.$ ginseng quality. since appropriate raw ginseng was supplied in traditional way. For the generation with analytical attitude the description of raw ginseng quality to the processed ginseng products is recommendable. For the quality control with biologically active or index compound, the composition of various compounds seems to be the best. The establishment of physical and chemical quality creteria that will match with the traditional mothod it needed and will accomplished by comparative research on raw ginseng from various production sites and growth conditions. The description of production-place, grade and quantity of raw ginseng to the processed products will give better information and higher popularity of products to consumers.

Synthesis and Characterization of 4-Component Polyimide Films with Various Diamine and Dianhydride Compositions (다양한 조성 변화에 따른 4성분계 폴리이미드 필름 제조와 물성분석)

  • Various poly(amic acid)s were synthesized from PMDA/BPDA/p-PDA/ODA with different mole ratios and effectively converted into 4-component polyimide films by thermal imidization. The chemical structures and thermo-mechanical properties of polyimide films were examined using Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy (FT-IR), thermo-gravimetric analyzer (TGA), thermo-mechanical analyzer (TMA), dynamic mechanical analyzer (DMA) and universal tensile machine (UTM). The tensile strength, modulus, and thermal properties of polyimides films increased with the amount of rigid PMDA and p-PDA, while the elongation and moisture absorption of polyimide films increased with the amount of flexible BPDA and ODA. One of 4-component polyimide films exhibited a similar coefficient of thermal expansion (CTE) value to that of copper when it was composed of PMDA : BPDA : p-PDA : ODA with the ratio of 5 : 5 : 4 : 6. Thus, this polyimide film could be useful for a base film for flexible copper clad laminates (FCCL) of flexible printed circuit boards.

On-site Output Survey and Feed Value Evaluation on Agro- industrial By-products (농산업부산물들에 대한 배출 현장 조사 및 사료적 가치 평가)

  • This study was conducted to make on-site survey on the output pattern and utilization situation of 19 by-products selected, to evaluate their nutritional characteristics, to find out a reliable index with which digestion of by-products can be predicted on the basis of chemical compositions analyzed and to diagnose the risk of using book values in the absence of the actual values analyzed for diet formulation. Production and utilization situations of by-products were quite various. Nutritionally, fruit processing by-products such as apple pomace (AP), pear pomace (PP), grape pomace (GP), and persimmon peel (PSP), and bakery by-products (BB) were classified as energy feeds. Soybean curd meal (SCM), animal by- products such as blood (BD), feather meal (FM) and poultry by-products (PB), and activated milk processing sludge (AMS) were classified as protein feeds. Soy hulls (SH), spent mushroom compost (SMC), barley malt hulls (BMH), waste paper (WP) and broiler litter (BL) were classified as roughage. Rumen contents (RC) and restaurant food waste (FW) were nutritionally analogous to complete diets for cattle and swine, respectively. Compared to soybean meal (SBM), BD and FM contained high (P<0.05) levels of amino acids and barley malt sprouts (BMS), AMS and FW contained low (P<0.05) levels of amino acids. Enzymatic (pepsin) digestibilities of proteinaceous feeds ranged between 99 and 66%. In vitro DM digestibility was high (P<0.05) in the order of FW, BB, AP, SH, PP, PSP, BMH, BMS, SCM, GP, RC, PB, BL, WP, SMC, AMS, FM and BD. In vitro DM digestibility had the highest correlation (r=0.68) with nonfibrous carbohydrate among chemical components. Differences between analyzed values of chemical components and book values were considerable. Caution is required in using book values when large amount of by-products are used in diets.

Relationship tussah diets with its silk reelability (작잠사료성분이 조사에 미치는 영향)

  • This report was prepared to find how warious tussah silk worm diets effect for the worm nutrition, its cocoon and reelability, Meantime, it was attacked the reeling effect of newly developed tussah cocoon cooking chemical, Tussah-lite. The results obtained are as followings. 1. The chemical composition of various diets were almost even, but Quercus acutissima Carrathers was the best from the nutrition point of view. 2. It was found that the more Calcium Oxalate, the better cocoon was formed, but Calcium Oxalate in the cocoon layer was found as almost same amount in case of different diet was fed. 3. It was also found that the more tannin, the better cocoon was formed, but the cocoon reelability was found as almost same in case of different diet was fed. 4. The cocoon reeling effect of newly developed chemical, Tussah-lite, showed 6∼7% silk yield from the tussah cocoon.

Soil Chemical Properties of Long-term Organic Cultivation Upland (장기 유기농 실천 토양의 화학적 특성)

  • To investigate the influence of long-term organic cultivation on soil characteristics, chemical properties of 35 soils in the national scale organically managed over 10 years were analyzed. 57% of soils which were managed by the materials containing livestock manure have higher nutrient concentration than the materials not containing livestock manure. The decomposed composts (containing livestock manure) had higher amount of $P_2O_5$, CaO, $K_2O$ than organic fertilizers (not containing livestock manure). In the results, the nutrient concentration of soils in long-term organically managed was higher than optimum range of upland soil, especially pH 6.9, available phosphorus (Av. $P_2O_5$) 744 mg/kg, exchangeable calcium $9.4cmol_c/kg$, potassium 2.51 cmolc/kg. On the other hand, more than 50% of soils had lower concentration of exchangeable magnesium than optimum range (soil nutrient distribution was unbalanced). It is suggested that farmers have to be careful to apply organic materials, especially containing livestock manure.

Physicochemical Properties of Insoluble Mineral Substances in Food Additives (식품첨가물중 불용성광물성물질의 물리화학적 특성)

  • This study was conducted to determin basic mineral compositions, chemical components, description of particle size distribution and whiteness for 32 items of insoluble mineral substances, i.e., 3 items of diatomaceus earth, 1 item of kaolin, 10 items of bentonite, 13 items of acid clay, 3 items of talc and 2 items of perlite. The chemical components and XRD (X-Ray diffractometer) for insoluble mineral substances, were similar with those of the reported references except kaolin. However, whiteness was determined in 90% level for talc, diatomaceus earth and kaolin. The contents of heavy metals in insoluble mineral substances were determined as follows : Pb, $nd{\sim}23.10$ ppm ; Cd, $nd{\sim}0.67$ ppm ; Hg, $nd{\sim}0.58$ ppm ; As, $nd{\sim}1.42$ ppm ; Cu, $nd{\sim}39.35$ ppm. These data were significanty lower than the references.

Investigation of Corrosion Mechanism by Analyses of Spent Chromia Refractory fvom a Coal Gasifier (석탄 가스화기에서의 크로미아 내화물 분석을 통한 화학적 침식 기구 규명)

  • Spent refractories from a coal gasifier after 1000 hours of operation were analyzed for crystalline phases, chemical composition and microstructures as a function of slag penetration depth, and the slag corrosion mechanism was determined. The chemical corrosion of chromia refractory occurred via reaction between Cr$_2$O$_3$ of the refractory and FeO and A1$_2$O$_3$ in the slag. The FeO reacted with Cr$_2$O$_3$ at the slare/refractory interface and formed FeCr$_2$O$_4$. After all FeO were consumed, Al in the penetrating slag substituted Cr in Cr$_2$O$_3$, forming (Al, Cr)$_2$O$_3$, at the edges of the particle, which were broken to form fragments rich in Al. The corrosion resistance of Cr$_2$O$_3$ varied with the particle size and the extent of sintering, and the higher resistance was observed in the larger and more sintered particles. There was no chemical change in ZrO$_2$, but showed the effects of physical corrosion: the grain boundaries became more wavy, and ZrO$_2$ grains were split in the corroded area. The slag penetration depth increased in the refractory samples farther down from the feed nozzles.

Evaluation of Primary Thermal Degradation Feature of M. sacchariflorus After Removing Inorganic Compounds Using Distilled Water (증류수를 이용한 거대억새 내 무기성분 제거 효과 및 열분해 특성 변화 관찰)

  • The goal of this study was to investigate change of thermal decomposition feature of miscanthus (Miscanthus sacchariflorus) after removal of inorganic constituents using distilled water (D.I-w; 30, 60 and $90^{\circ}C$). The carbon content was increased whereas the oxygen content was decreased with the temperature of D.I-w treatment. Moreover, ash content was slightly decreased from 4.6% of control to 3.2% of $90^{\circ}C$ D.I-w treated sample. Results of total monomeric sugar contents and X-ray diffraction (XRD) analysis showed that structural changes of cellulose/hemicellulose regions did not occurr during D.I-w treatment. Results of inductively coupled plasma emission spectrometer (ICP-ES) showed that miscanthus has the largest amount of inorganic constituents such as potassium (5,644 ppm), phosphorus (3,995 ppm), magnesium (1,403 ppm) and calcium (711 ppm). Thermogravimetric analysis (TGA) confirmed that the yield of char slightly decreased whereas the yield of volatiles increased with increasing D.I-w treatment temperature. In addition, differential thermogravimetric analysis (DTGA) indicated that the maximum decomposition rate ($V_M$) and temperature ($T_M$) corresponding to VM were varied from $0.82%/^{\circ}C$, $360.60^{\circ}C$ of control to $1.17%/^{\circ}C$, $362.62^{\circ}C$ of $90^{\circ}C$-D.I-w treated sample.

Monitoring of Pesticide Residues and Risk Assessment of Agricultural Products Consumed in South Korea (국내유통농산물 중 잔류농약 모니터링 및 안전성 평가)

  • Monitoring the pesticide residues in agricultural products is essential to protect consumers, obtain data for risk assessment, and ensure fair trade practices. We developed a multi-residue method for the analysis of 37 pesticides with different physico-chemical properties in agricultural products and analyzed the amount of pesticide residues on about 1,000 samples circulated in South Korea. The samples consisted of 26 different types of agricultural products selected at markets in 14 major cities; cereals (2 species), nuts (1 species) potatoes (1 species), beans (2 species), fruits (3 species), vegetables (16 species), and mushrooms (1 species). In this study, residual pesticides were detected in 23 samples (2.2%) and one sample was detected to be over maximum residue limits (MRLs, 0.1%) for pesticides in foods by the Korea food code. In leafy vegetables such as pepper leaves, radish leaves, cham-na-mul, shin-sun-cho, crown daisy, chwi-na-mul and citrus fruits such as kumquat, 8 kinds of pesticides were detected. Specially, diazinon were detected over MRLs and also, endosulfan, ethoprophos and phenthoate were detected frequently. Based on these results, we investigated the risk assesment from amount of residual pesticide, total %ADI was 1.262%, but the value has not effected on human health.
