  • In this viewpoint paper, we overlook the potential of the data industry and the strategies needed in order to survive in this new socio-economic order brought by COVID-19. The social distancing culture is leading to the expansion and centralization of data. The government established the development plan of the data industry ecosystem and the capital flow is following this stream, so this is an opportunity for those in the data business. To survive and grow in the data industry ecosystem, we need to identify quality characteristics that have a comparative advantage over competitors based on high data quality and need to determine the target business segmentation to avoid wasting resources and make efficient investments.

  • Blockchain technology has the potential to revolutionize trust models and business processes in a variety of industries. However, it is considered to be the initial stage of the system that pursues autonomy rather than efficiency, and it is necessary to monitor and inspect the distributed ledger technology from the price and introduction time as compared with the existing relational DB transaction technology. However, domestic and foreign private sectors have already been activated by applying block-chain technology in the national domain, and the block chain is devoid of doubt that it is an exaggerated technology, characterized by the invariance of the record, transparency, and autonomous execution of business rules. It has begun to be utilized in history, identity, certification and auditing in the financial industry as well as various industries. In this paper, we analyze the problems such as security weakness, insufficient regulatory environment, technical consensus and lack of common standard. In addition, the business sense and possibility of the block chain technology is expected to be the innovation of the industrial ecosystem by entering into the reality system from the concept through monitoring the actual introduction performance in the field of copyright, logistics, health care and environment.

  • Since the Korean economic development path has been unique compared to other counties, it is necessary to build an incubation ecosystem matching with unique economic environment in Korea. In order to revive the dynamism of the economy, establishment of the incubator ecosystem should be a policy priority so that ventures with innovative ideas and challenging minds can grow into a global stage. The purpose of this study is to derive the policy implications for establishing ecosystem and infrastructure by comparing to other OECD countries such as US, Israel, Finland, and Japan that can offer meaningful policy implications to Korea. For this purpose, the most appropriate model for explaining the incubation ecosystem in Korea was designed. PCII Model (People, Capital, Incubating, Infra) has 4 elements. It provides a framework for incubation of entrepreneurship, funding for start-up, incubation course, establishment of business foundation infrastructure. The comparative analysis was conducted with 12 sub-items under 4 elements and qualitative and quantitative evaluations were performed for each category. As a result of the comparative analysis, Korea's incubation policy seems to be still in the initial stage in terms of establishment of ecosystem compared to other countries. Therefore, a systematic approach based on the ecosystem model is needed other than the short-term incubation policy.

  • The purpose of this study is two fold. First, we will explore the meaning, spread effect and consideration factors of manufacturing innovation in terms of theoretical perspective. Second, we will verify the status of high performance computing (HPC) utilization policy, and analyze the situation of US and Korea. Manufacturing innovation policy in each country has the objective in common which aims epoch-making enhancing of productivity. Nevertheless it can be characterized as innovation oriented policy rather than simple trial of productivity improvement. For long term growth and employment, the need for reindustrialization instead of deindustrialization should be recognized. Employment may be decreased temporarily and partially due to manufacturing innovation. However net effect of employment increasing will be bigger because of indirect employment. HPC utilization policy has the importance as a separate movement other than as a subset of manufacturing innovation. US government is trying to eliminate the bottleneck elements in adoption of HPC based M&S activity, and to promote the way of problem solving through the mechanism of public-private partnership, in spite of low level of HPC based M&S. In Korea, ecosystem related with the activity of HPC based M&S is needed, and expansion of M&S utilization in manufacturing companies and fostering of M&S supporting institutions will be important for this task.

While IoT increases the experience of interactivity and immersion for consumption, it improves the way ads are exposed and its impact is measured, leading to revenue increase. For these benefits fulfilled, innovation friendly media eco-system must be established. It is the most critical that media firms should change skeptical attitude toward IoT's potential and actively invest it to employ IoT. The government should create regulatory framework to best utilize the innovative advantages of IoT.

  • This research examines the characteristics of the newly emerging 'transformative innovation policy' and discusses the current status and issues of the Korean social problem solving R & D policy. Transformative innovation policy is a new paradigm that aims to transform socio-technical systems to address societal challenges. In this study, we analyzed 'the policy plan for solving social problems based on science and technology'. In the "Policy Plan", efforts are being made to establish new direction of science and technological innovation activities such as emphasis on social values, network formation of innovation actors, and spreading of social impact. But in this "Policy Plan", the perspective of transformative innovation policy is weakly reflected. The Policy Plan refers to system improvement that adds new elements to existing system, but it is not discussing system transformation. In order to develop social problem solving R & D policy from the viewpoint of the transformative innovation policy, it is necessary to construct the innovation platform deliberating vision and prospect for the socio-technical transformation.

  • This paper shows a empirical results by adopting Kauffman' NK model. First, we find interdependence parameter K is nine in the technological ecosystem Landscape. According to principal component analysis, our technological ecosystem landscape is based on K=N-1 technology structure. Second, to Kauffman NK model, our technological ecosystem landscape is completely uncorrelated each other and contains a large number of local optima. As additional technology rises, the number of local optima rises rapidly. Our results mean that the more complexity in the technological ecosystem landscape, the less effective technology innovation will be in our country's technology system.

  • The new Korean government sets its main policy direction as Creative Economy. The Creative Economy can be defined as a growth strategy that establishes new companies, enhances the competitiveness of established companies and creates new markets, industries and jobs in consequence of combining of creative imagination, science and technology and ICT. In this context, the concept of innovation cluster, which aims to foster technological innovations from an organic ecosystem perspective, can be a valid policy instrument for attaining Creative Economy. Innovation cluster can and must make a contribution to achieving the Creative Economy of Korea. In particular, the ICT Convergence Innovation Cluster will be a good strategy for this purpose. Based on this conceptual background, this paper analyzes a recently notable case of an ICT Convergence Cluster in Korea, Pangyo Technovalley (PTV). We argue that the Pangyo Technovalley is a representative cluster of converging ICT and science and technology. We identify the major factors for successful development of ICT cluster: regional government's flexible response to environmental change, careful pre-planning and balance between private and public involvement. In addition, we also found that additional factors, settlement condition for securing good workforce, agglomeration of various innovation actors for promoting convergence, and cluster network revitalization are also important for implementing the creative ICT convergence cluster.

  • The role of entrepreneurship has become important for the continuous growth (scale-up) of companies in a rapidly changing economic environment. However, research has focused mainly on business-oriented growth that emphasizes efficiency only. However, in the era of the fourth industrial revolution, people have become more important than corporate efficiency. In particular, there are few studies on SMEs. The purpose of this study is to investigate how the characteristics of human - centered organizational culture affects the business ecosystem and firm excellence of SMEs, and how business ecosystem and firm excellence affect the performance of corporations. Therefore, this study focuses on the empathy, enablement, empowerment, and engagement of the corporate culture characteristics of the enterprise and the effects of the independent variables on the business ecosystem and the flower excellence as the parameters and the business ecosystem and company excellence. The main research subjects are the causality analysis that examines the effects on the management performance. The results of the study are as follows. Empathy, enablement, empowerment, engagement have a significant impact on the business ecosystem. In addition, the engagement have a positive effect on firm excellence. The results of empirical studies on the causal relationship between business ecosystem, corporate competence, and company excellence and business performance show that business ecosystem has no statistically significant effect on business performance. Corporate excellence has a significant effect on business performance Respectively. In addition to the above findings, this study can suggest the following implications. First, it is an empirical study of small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) by utilizing people-oriented entrepreneurship in addition to existing research. Small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) are expected to have lower perceptions of people-oriented management than large corporations or public institutions, but the analysis shows that people-centered entrepreneurship has a significant impact on the business ecosystem. Second, the research results of the serial multiple mediating effect analysis show that the higher the atmosphere of entrepreneurship in a company, the higher the atmosphere of entrepreneurship, and the parameters of business ecosystem and company excellence in the effect of people-oriented entrepreneurship on management performance. It is that the path through which people-oriented entrepreneurship influences management performance was verified by verifying the mediating effect by inputting. Lastly, it is hoped that research on people-oriented entrepreneurship in Korea's SMEs will be activated, providing a theoretical basis for transforming SMEs' business models into innovative types.
