  • In this study, the purpose of the study is to derive the relationship between factors affecting the establishment of start-up companies, technical innovation performance, and technology commercialization, and to confirm the effects of start-up factors and technology commercialization on the technological innovation performance based on the analysis. For this research, a survey was conducted on employees aged 20 or older who were employed in large national enterprises or medium and small-sized enterprises, etc. and the results of the empirical analysis were as follows. Firstly, the factors influencing start-ups were found to have a significant impact on the technology commercialization(manufacturing capacity, producing capacity). Secondly, technology commercialization had a significant impact on the technological innovation performance(business performance, customer performance), and thirdly, technology commercialization had a partial mediating effect in the relationship between start-up factors and technical performance. This study confirmed that the factors of start-up, technology commercialization, and technological innovation performance have statistically significant impact relations, and further research on start-up factors and technology commercialization is necessary for the technological innovation and creation of companies.

  • This study focuses on export venture firms in Daedeok Innopolis and examines the structural relationships among dynamic capability, technology commercialization competence, innovation performance, and competitive advantage. In particular, this study attempts to analyze dynamic capabilities that may affect technology commercialization competence, innovation performance, and competitive advantage. The development of the research model takes on a dynamic-capability view and is based on empirical studies regarding competitive advantage. A survey of 103 export venture firms was conducted from January 5, 2015, to February 4, 2015. A partial least squares structural equation model is used to test the relationships between constructs set in the study. The results of the study show that the dynamic capability of an export venture firm has a significant positive influence on the firm's technology commercialization competence, innovation performance, and competitive advantage. The study also finds evidence that the export venture firm's technology commercialization competence directly affects its innovation performance and competitive advantage. In addition, the findings indicate that the innovation performance of an export venture firm has a significant positive impact on the firm's competitive advantage. Overall, these findings contribute to a better understanding of the contexts in which dynamic capability represents a specific capability for export venture firms.

  • Many countries are committed to absorb foreign direct investments (FDIs). One of the strong motivations is the improvement of innovative capability through the technology spillover of FDI firms. The effect of FDI technology spillover has been widely researched not only on country level, but industry level. With the evolution of globalization and global sourcing of multinational companies, it is necessary to reexamine the relationship between innovation ability of an industry and spillover effect of FDI. This paper investigates the technology spillover effect of FDI on the innovation of Chinese firms. We gathered the data of 34 industries form various sources of Chinese government and the time span is 2001-2008. By using industry level panel data, we set panel data analysis model. In the model, there are two explanatory variables: backward and foreward integration. The analysis result shows that technology spillover of FDI has significant effect on the innovation of foreward integration FDI.

  • This study was important considering the prevalence of small business owners in the Korean economy and the challenges they faced amidst an economic downturn. The business performance of these owners was crucial for their survival. Thus, an empirical analysis was conducted to identify factors influencing their management performance. The analysis included personal characteristics of small business owners such as innovativeness, management capability, need for achievement, and technical capability as independent variables, along with product differentiation factors. Additionally, the moderating effect of social capital on these variables and their impact on management performance was tested. To achieve this, a survey targeting small business owners across Korea was conducted, and data from 250 respondents were utilized. Hierarchical regression analysis using SPSS 24.0 was employed for the empirical analysis. The results indicated that management capability, need for achievement, and product differentiation significantly positively impacted business performance. However, the impact of innovativeness and technical capability was not tested. The influence of the variables on business performance ranked as follows: product differentiation, management capability, and need for achievement. The moderating effect of social capital was significant in the relationship between management capability, need for achievement, and management performance, enhancing these relationships. However, the moderating effect of social capital on the relationship between innovativeness, technical capability, product differentiation, and management performance was not tested. These findings underscored the importance of management capability, need for achievement, and product differentiation as key factors affecting the management performance of Korean small businesses. This study was significant as it provided insights into improving the management performance of small business owners in challenging economic conditions by highlighting how the influence of these factors varied depending on the social capital possessed by the owners.
