  • The purpose of this study is to analyze the 'identity' found in constructional characteristics of Geumgok Hongneung, the first imperial tomb of Korean empire. In terms of "sameness", which states for internal self-cognition among ambivalent situations while consisting identity, Hongneung inherited the prosperity of the Chosun dynasty, possessed 'sustainability' related to Cheongryangri Hongneung of Empress Myeongseong, as well as revealed various 'identitification' of situations in order to expose self-esteem as emperor and imperial nations. On the other hand, in terms of "individuality" as an external self-cognition, the opposite phase of sameness, Hongneung is a mixture of the will of Emperor Gojong and Japanese intervention hence formed 5th styles of royal tombs through 'peculiarity' which distinguishes it from the original tradition. In addition, the value of Hongneung is that it actually reflects the confusing and difficult times of the old ages, and it also involves 'excellence' as the place of the according a state funeral of Emperor Gojong and provoking March First Independence Movement. Thus, Geumgok Hongneung is a recorded landscape that clearly reflects the times of royal tombs of the Chosun dynasty, the world cultural heritage, and also the historic landscape showing extraordinary landscape of unique characteristics, 'Hwangjereung'.

  • The excavated potteries and raw clays of the Bronze Age from the archaeological sites in the Cheonan-Asan area were studied on material scientific characteristics and homogeneity. Under the microscope, grainsize of the tempers in the potteries were distributed from less than 1mm to 10mm. Microtexture of the potteries showed various shapes and sizes of pores. In addition to the main minerals such as quartz, feldspar, mica, hornblende, chlorite and talc were found from the X-ray diffraction analysis of potteries, while talc was not found in the raw clay. Therefore, it was considered as an artificially added mineral. Firing temperature of the potteries, which did not contain chlorite, are assumed that they were baked below $850^{\circ}C$. On the other hand, the potteries which had mica and talc, are assumed that they were fired below $900^{\circ}C$. The geochemical characteristics of the potteries and raw clays showed very similar patterns, that means the potteries were produced by using the raw clay sources from each site.

  • Kwon et al.(2008) carried out a hydraulic experiment in order to evaluate Manning coefficient, which implicates flow resistance due to bottom friction as well as drag caused by the squared piers higher than water depth and arranged with equal intervals, under the flow condition with a constant drag coefficient, $Re>10^4$. And, based on the equation of equilibrium, they proposed a formula for the equivalent resistant coefficient including empirical drag interaction coefficient obtained by using the experimental results. In this study, the hydraulic experiment was simulated using FLOW-3D, a 3-dimensional computational fluid dynamic code. The computations were compared with the experiment results as well as the semi-theoretical formula, and the comparisons show a good agreement. From the agreement, it was confirmed that when flow resistance bodies were higher than water depth, Manning n value increases with 2/3 power of water depth as shown in the theoretical formula and that drag interaction coefficient was dominated by their intervals.

  • In natural environments, manganese (Mn) exists in the valence of +2, +3, and +4 and plays a pivotal role as a strong oxidant or reductant in the geochemical cycles of elements. Especially, Mn forms varying (oxyhydr)oxides. The oxidation state of structural Mn is characteristic to each oxide and is one of the most important factors controlling its geochemical behaviors such as solubility, sorption capacity, and redox potential. Therefore, it is important to elucidate processes governing Mn oxidation state in predicting the fate and transport of many redox sensitive elements in the environment. X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy (XPS) is a very useful method to determine the oxidation state of various elements in solid phases. In this study, the oxidation states of structural Mn in MnO, $Mn_2O_3$, $MnO_2$ were assessed based on the binding energy spectra of $Mn2p_{3/2}$ and Mn3s using XPS and were compared with those reported elsewhere. $Mn2p_{3/2}$ binding energies were determined as 640.9, 641.5, 641.8 eV for MnO, $Mn_2O_3$, $MnO_2$, respectively, which indicates that the binding energy increased with increasing Mn oxidation state. It was also noted that Ar etching may cause changes in electronic structure configuration on surface of the original sample.

  • Sustaiable development yield of groundwater in Korea has been determined according to 10 year drought frequency of groundwater recharge in the standard mid-sized watershed or relatively large area of district. Therefore, the evaluation of groundwater impact in a small watershed is hard to apply. Fot this purpose, a novel approach to estimate cell based sustainable development yield of groundwater (SDYG) is suggested and applied to Gyeongju region. Cell based groundwater recharge is computed using hydrological component analysis using the SWAT-MODFLOW which is an integrated surface water-groundwater model. To estimate the potential amount of groundwater development, the existing method which uses 10 year drought frequency rainfall multiplied by recharge coefficient is adopted. Cell based SDYGs are computed and summed for 143 sub-watersheds and administrative districts. When these SDYGs are combined with groundwater usage data, the groundwater usage rate (total usage / SDYG) shows wide local variations (7.1~108.8%) which are unseen when average rate (24%) is only evaluated. Also, it is expected that additional SDYGs in any small district could be estimated.

  • In our society, the advanced, advanced, and information industries have continued to grow and now live in the era of the fourth industrial revolution. As the industry develops, the load of the users has also increased so much that it is deepened by the energy shortage phenomenon and the construction of additional energy facilities is required. Therefore, energy plant construction work is being actively carried out in the coastal area. In particular, it is common to build a plant in the ground by filling the coast with soil in other regions, reflecting the fact that Korea is lacking in the country when constructing power plants, gas and petrochemical plants. Current domestic grounding designs are designed or constructed to suit only the use of grounding resistors based on the electrical equipment design technical standards. However, in the case of a plant facility constructed in the untested buried soil, when the lightning current and the abnormal current are inputted, the facility operator or the user due to the elevation of the ground potential is seriously exposed to the risk of electric shock disaster. In this paper, we analyze the ground resistivity of the landfilled soil and use a computer program (CDEGS) based on KS C IEC 61936-1, We analyze the contact voltage and stratification voltage and propose a grounding design optimized for plant installation.

  • Personalized App recommendation system is recently famous since the number of various apps that can be used in smart phones that increases exponentially. However, the site users using google play site with malwares have experienced severe damages of privacy exposure and extortion as well as a simple damage of satisfaction descent at the same time. In addition, Sybil attack (Sybil) manipulating the score (rating) of each app with falmay also present because of the social networks development. Up until now, the sybil detection studies and malicious apps studies have been conducted independently. But it is important to determine finally the existence of intelligent attack with Sybil and malware simultaneously when we consider the intelligent attack types in real-time. Therefore, in this paper we experimentally evaluate the relationship between malware and sybils based on real cralwed dataset of goodlplay. Through the extensive evaluations, the correlation between malware and sybils is low for malware providers to hide themselves from Anti-Virus (AV).

  • This paper is intended to solve the technical problem that fails in large-capacity induction motor starting due to serious voltage drop during starting period. One induction motor that is established already can reach in steady-state using reactor starting method but the voltage magnitude of PCC (point of common coupling) has dropped down a little. When the same capacity induction motor is installed additionally in the PCC, where the existing induction motor is operating, voltage drop becomes more serious by starting of additional induction motor. As a result, the additional induction motor fails in starting. Therefore, voltage compensation method is proposed so that all of two induction motors can be started completely. First, modeling technique is described in order to implement starting characteristics of large induction motor. And then, this paper proposes strategic starting scheme by proper voltage compensation that use no-load transformer tap control (NLTC) and step voltage regulator (SVR) for starting of two large induction motors successfully and improving the feeding network voltage profile during the starting period. The induction motor discussed in this paper is the pumped induction motor of 2500kVA capacity that is operating by KOWACO (Korea Water Resources Corporation). Modeling and simulation is conducted using PSCAD/EMTDC software.

  • Abstract The typical distribution systems have the power flow from distribution substations (sources) to customers (load) only as one direction. However, in the case where distributed generations (DG) such as PV system and wind power systems are connected to distribution systems, the DG output variations to distribution systems, so called reverse power flow, may cause the bi-directional power flow. So, the reverse power flow has severe impacts on typical power system, for example power quality problems, protection coordination problems, and so on. Especially, protection devices (sectionalizer) in primary feeder of distribution system interconnected with distributed generations may cause problems of malfunction, and then many customers could have problems like an interruption. So, this paper presents the bi-directional operation algorithm of protection devices to overcome the problems like mal-function. And, also this paper shows the effectiveness of proposed method by using both PSCAD/EMTDC software and test facility of protection devices to simulate the field distribution systems.

  • This study aims at developing a new seismic resistant method by using precast concrete wall panels for existing low-rise, reinforced concrete beam-column buildings such as school buildings. Three quasi-static hysteresis loading tests were performed on one unreinforced beam-column specimen and two reinforced specimens with U-type precast wall panels. Seismic resistant test of anchored and welded steel plate connections manifested an average of 2.8 times increase in the maximum loading (average 591.8 kN) in comparison to unreinforced beam-column specimen. The maximum drift ratios were also shown between 1.4% and 2.7%. An analytical study was performed while assuming the RC column on the right side and the vertical element of the reinforced PC panel to behave in completely composite manner and the RC column on the left side and PC panel to behave in completely non-composite manner when loading was exerted from upper right end of RC frame of specimen to its left side. It was found with the assumptions that the overall flexural behavior in principle agreed with the experimental result.
