A Study on the Implementation of Aircraft System Safety Assessment using Probabilistic Analysis of Failure Data (고장 데이터의 확률 분석을 적용한 항공기 시스템 안전성 평가 수행 방안 연구)

  • The aircraft system safety assessment, which is emphasized in the development and certification of aircraft, is a systematic and comprehensive evaluation process to determine that all relevant failure conditions have been identified and that all significant combinations of failures cannot result in unacceptable hazards. As the aircraft systems become more complex and require integrated function and performance, proper safety objectives must be established and appropriate assessments are need to be accompanied. This paper has prepared to propose the efficient probabilistic analysis of failure data to evaluate the risk level over the entire aircraft lifecycle through the safety assessment and to review the considerations for aircraft certification and safety improvement.

Dynamic Routing and Priority-based Data Transmission Schemes in Avionic Ethernet for Improving Network QoS (항공전자 이더넷의 네트워크 성능 향상을 위한 동적 라우팅 기법 및 우선순위기반 데이터 전송 기법)

  • Aircraft data network (ADN) is a data networking for signal transmission among avionic systems in aircraft, and it mostly has been applied MIL-STD-1553B that guarantees high reliability considering its application environments. However, commercial Ethernet has been widely applied for ADN recently, and its range of applications have increased. Ethernet provides high speed of data transmission, however, it could not guarantee quality of service (QoS) so high as MIL-STD-1553B. In this paper, we propose dynamic routing and priority based data transmission schemes in order to improve the QoS of legacy Ethernet. Our propose schemes can be applied to Ethernet switch, and it is able to manage network traffic efficiently, and reduce the time for data transmission. We analyze the packet transmission time for both legacy and proposed schemes in Ethernet environments using simulation, and we show that our proposed scheme can reduce the time for data transmission compare to legacy spanning tree protocol.

Performance of Fault-tolerant Ethernet System with Link-bypass scheme for Airbone Databus (항공 데이터버스용 링크 우회방식을 가진 고장감내 이더넷 시스템의 성능 분석)

  • The link-fault recovery in the normal Ethernet bridged networks has relied on the Spanning Tree Protocol(STP) or Rapid STP. However, STP can not offer fast error recovery which is needed real-time services such as aircraft. In this paper, we compare automatic protection switching(APS) providing fault-tolerant function in the BcN back bone system with Avionic Full Duplex Switched Ethernet(AFDX) which is recently equipped in the A380 for Airbone Databuses. Also, we propose a link-bypass scheme for improving fault-tolerant performance of the AFDX by connecting switches and bypass fault section when a fault is originated on the link. For comparing and verifying the performance of proposed scheme, we simulated Ethernet, AFDX, APS and proposed AFDX with link-bypass scheme using NS-2. The proposed AFDX with link-bypass scheme can be applied to aircrafts, BcN backbone networks and industrial automatic networks.

Aircraft Embedded Antenna Design for JTDLS Complete System (JTDLS 완성형 체계를 위한 항공기 내장형 안테나 설계)

  • In this paper, we studied the method of designing a embedded antenna for mounting on the JTDLS complete aircraft. The proposed antenna satisfies the MIDS-LVT operation frequency band and is designed as a broadband in consideration of expandability. As a result of the design, it was confirmed that the proposed antenna has similar electrical performance to the existing blade antenna and has broadband characteristics. As a result of EM analysis, the antenna was mounted on the top and bottom parts of the aircraft to check the mount of the aircraft, and it was confirmed that both the top and bottom parts had good radiation characteristics. The technology acquired through this study is judged to be applicable to the JTDLS completed aircraft.

Infrared Signal Characteristics of Small Turbojet Engine Plume by Observation Angle (소형 터보젯 엔진 후류의 측정 각도 별 적외선 신호 특성)

  • Infrared (IR) stealth technology to protect aircraft from heat-tracking missiles is a very important factor in the development of military aircraft. In this study, the intensities of signal generation were compared by observing the IR signals generated from the plumes of the engine and identifying them for each measurement angle. To simulate a jet engine applied to an actual aircraft, a small turbojet engine was constructed, the infrared signal characteristics for each wavelength were identified according to the measurement angle, and the total infrared radiance was derived by integrating the signal for each wavelength. Through this study, we intend to present basic data for improving the infrared stealth performance of aircraft.

  • 항공기에는 각각의 임무에 맞게 설계된 많은 종류의 임무컴퓨터(Mission Computer)가 존재한다. 여러 센서(Sensor)에서 전송되는 신호를 처리하는 기존의 단일코어 기반 임무컴퓨터는 항공기의 성능 향상에 따른 임무 요구도의 증대와 전장 환경의 변화에 따라 기내 데이터의 양이 급격히 증가하여 정보통신의 실시간성에 한계를 보인다. 본 논문에서는 실시간 운영체제인 VxWorks를 통해서 다중채널 ARINC-429 통신모듈을 실시간으로 제어하는 멀티코어 SBC(Single Board Computer) 테스트베드(Test-Bed)를 제시한다.

  • 항공기에 작용하는 공기역학적 힘인 양력과 항력은 항공기 날개 설계에서 성능을 좌우하는 성능지수로 주로 이용된다. 본 연구에서는 NACA0012 airfoil 모델의 공력특성을 EDISON 열유체 시뮬레이션 프로그램(이하 EDISON)을 이용해 분석하고 검증해 보았다. 아음속 유동의 특정 조건에서 받음각과 유동형태에 따른 공력특성 분석을 수행하여 받음각에 따라 변하는 양력계수, 항력계수, 양항비, 실속각과 천음속 유동 조건에 맞추어진 마하수 0.5~1.22 영역에서 변하는 항력계수를 기존 데이터와 비교 검증했다.

  • In this study, the sizing and performance analysis program is developed for the canard rotor wing(CRW) aircraft which operates in dual modes (fixed wing mode and rotary wing mode). The developed program is verified for both fixed wing and rotary wing modes using the existing aircraft data and the design optimization formulation is made to perform the reconnaissance mission. For the canard rotor wing aircraft optimization , multi-objective function is constructed to consider both the fixed wing mode and rotary wing mode the weighting factor. For six design cases with different weighting factors and different design constraints, the optimization is performed and improved rotor design results are derived.

Lever Arm Compensation of Reference Trajectory for Flight Performance Evaluation of DGPS/INS installed on Aircraft (항공기에 탑재된 DGPS/INS 복합항법 장치의 비행 시험 성능 평가를 위한 기준궤적의 Lever Arm 보정)

  • It has been studied for DGPS/INS(Differential Global Positioning System/Inertial Navigation System) to offer the more precise and reliable navigation data with the aviation industry development. The flight performance evaluation of navigation system is very significant because the reliability of navigation data directly affect the safety of aircraft. Especially, the high-level navigation system, as DGPS/INS, need more precise flight performance evaluation method. The performance analysis is performed by comparing between the DGPS/INS navigation data and reference trajectory which is more precise than DGPS/INS. The GPS receiver, which is capable of post-processed CDGPS(Carrier-phase DGPS) method, can be used as reference system. Generally, the DGPS/INS is estimated the CG(Center of Gravity) point of aircraft while the reference system is output the position of GPS antenna which is mounted on the outside of aircraft. For this reason, estimated error between DGPS/INS and reference system will include the error due to lever arm. In order to more precise performance evaluation, it is needed to compensate the lever arm. This paper presents procedure and result of flight test which includes lever arm compensation in order to verify reliability and performance of DGPS/INS more precisely.

Performance Analysis of Position Based Routing Protocol for UAV Networks (UAV 네트워크 환경에 적합한 위치기반 라우팅 프로토콜의 성능 분석)

  • Many systems are developing for the realization of NCW(Network Centric Warfare). UAV(Unmanned Aerial Vehicle) Network is attracting attention in a lot of military applications. In general, UAVs have the potential to create an ad-hoc network and greatly reduce the hops from source to destination. However, UAV networks exhibit unique properties such as high mobility, high data rate, and real time service. The routing protocols are required to design the multi-hop routing protocols that can dynamically adapt to the requirements of UAV network. In this paper we analyse Geographic Routing Protocol is based on geographical distance between source and destination for efficient and reliable transmission. Geographic Routing Protocol is evaluated in video service scenarios with TDMA model in our simulation. The simulation results show that the performance of Geographic Routing Protocol is better than the MANET Routing Protocol in terms of packet received ratio, end to end delay, and routing traffic sent.
