HP1423 (Y1423_HELPY) is a conserved hypothetical protein from H. pylori strain 26695. However, Sequence Blast result indicates that HP1423 belongs to S4 (PF01479) superfamily. According to Pfam database, the S4 domain is a small domain consisting of 60-65 amino acid residues, that probably mediates binding to RNA. In this study, we report the sequence-specific backbone resonance assignment of HP1423, which has 84 amino acid residues. We could assign unambiguously about 88% of all $^{1}H_{N}$, $^{15}N$, $^{13}C_{\alpha}$, $^{13}C_{\beta}$ and $^{13}C=O$ resonances. We could not detect the resonances from residues 15-20, and disappearance of these peaks seems to be related with the intermediate-conformational exchange. These assigned NMR peaks of HP1423 can be used for studying the role of protein dynamics in millisecond timescale, and Protein-RNA binding.

The inhibitory effects of flavanone derivatives on Helicobacter pylori (HP) growth, infection and VacA toxininduced vacuolation were investigated. Among flavanones tested, ponciretin potently inhibited the growth of HP with a MIC value of 0.01 mg/ml and VacA toxin-induced vacuolation in HeLa cells with $IC_{50}$ value of 0.078 mM. However, other flavanones inhibited neither HP growth nor VacA toxininduced vacuolation. All flavanones tested did not inhibit HP infection to KATO III cells. Ponciretin also inhibited activation of procaspase-3 to caspase-3 in HeLa cell induced by HP VacA toxin, but did not affect Bax and Bcl-2 protein levels. These findings indicate that ponciretin inhibits growth as well as vacuolation by HP VacA toxin, which induces cell death via proteolytic activation of a cascade of caspases.

This study was carried out to investigate the feasibility and usefulness of a commercial synthetic adsorbent, Diaion HP 20, for the isolation of proanthocyanidins (PAs) from hot water extract (HWE) prepared from Pinus radiata bark. Most ultraviolet (UV) absorbing materials in HWE were adsorbed onto Diaion HP 20 and easily recovered by simple ethanol (EtOH) washing. More than 50% of the UV absorbing materials were adsorbed within 20 minutes, and the adsorption equilibrium was reached within 3 h. The recovered materials from Diaion HP 20 were mostly composed of PAs, but some monomeric flavonoids such as taxifolin and unidentified hydrophobic materials were also adsorbed. The impurities such as carbohydrates and inorganic materials contained in HWE were mostly removed by Diaion HP 20. The adsorption ability of the UV absorbing materials onto Diaion HP 20 was almost the same as the first cycle even after 14 times of repeating cycles of adsorption and desorption. The radical scavenging ability of the recovered materials from the adsorbent was slightly higher than that of the pure PAs prepared by Sephadex LH 20 from the same HWE.

Cellulose acetate (CA) fiber mats containing inclusion complexes of asiaticoside (AC) in 2-hydroxypropyl-${\beta}$-cyclodextrin ($HP{\beta}CD$) for potential usage as wound dressings were developed. The AC/$HP{\beta}CD$ complex-loaded CA fibers at various $HP{\beta}CD$ to AC molar ratios of 0.5, 1, and 2 were prepared in 90:10 v/v mixture of 80% (v/v) acetic acid and N,N-dimethylacetamide (DMAc) via electrospinning. The maximum released amounts of AC depended on the $HP{\beta}CD$ content and were much greater than those released from the AC-loaded CA fiber mat. In the in vitro study, indirect cytotoxic evaluation with human dermal fibroblasts (HDFa) showed that these materials released no substances in the levels that were harmful to the cells and the cells appeared to attach and proliferate well on these substrates. However, only the CA fiber mats containing AC/$HP{\beta}CD$ complexes at the $HP{\beta}CD$ to AC molar ratio of 0.5 was effective in upregulating the production of collagen of the cultured cells.

"지난해 5월 8일 본사의 합병계획이 발표됐다. 한국은 5월 22일부터 시작돼 3개월이 시각이 흘렀다. 합병 발표후 각 사의 제품과 테크놀로지의 통합에 초점을 맞췄다. 한국HP와 컴팩코리아가 통합되면서 1400여명이 1조9000억원 매출을 달성하는 조직의 수장을 맡게 된 최준근(50) 사장은 최근 'hp-way'로 유명한 사내게시판(무기명 견해 작성)을 찾는 횟수가 일주일에 한번 수준에서 매일로 바뀌었다고 한다. 합병 후 직원들의 심리를 조금이라도 더 파악하기 위해서다. '인사가 만사임을 느낀다'는 최사장을 만나 합병3개월간의 얘기를 들어보았다.

목적: 새로운 적청사위시표(Red-Blue phoria chart; RBP) 검사의 신뢰성을 평가하였다. 방법: 38명을 대상으로 원거리(5m), 근거리(40cm) 사위량을 측정하였다. RBP 시표 사위검사, 하웰시표 사위검사(HP), 그리고 Muscle Imbalance Measure (MIM) 시표 사위검사를 실시하고 검사에 대한 신뢰도를 서로 비교하였다. 결과: 수평 사위도는 원거리 RBP $-0.6{\pm}0.727{\Delta}$, HP $-0.87{\pm}1.051{\Delta}$, MIM $-1.50{\pm}1.346{\Delta}$, 근거리 RBP $-2.57{\pm}2.352{\Delta}$, HP $-2.80{\pm}2.411{\Delta}$, MIM $-3.84{\pm}2.603{\Delta}$로 측정되었다. 검사 신뢰도는 원거리의 경우 RBP>MIM>HP 순이었고, 근거리의 경우 MIM>RBP>HP 순으로 나타났다. 결론: RBP 검사법은 신뢰도가 높은 사위검사법으로 판명되었다.
