A Study on Performance Characteristics for Auxiliary Converter of Korean High Speed Train (한국형 고속열차 보조컨버터 성능 특성에 관한 연구)

  • As the on-board electric devices determine the performances of vehicles, production of reliable devices is important. To keep the reliability of devices constant, management of performance evaluation of the on-board devices is crucial. Because temperature bas a serious effect on failures of the components of the devices, its measurement is the first step for good management. In this study, we described performance characteristics of domestic auxiliary block developed through G7 project. We measured the performances of auxiliary block during test running by the developed on-line measurement system. After we save the input real-time data from each signal of Korean High Speed Train through the network line, we can acquire necessary information through Post-Processing program. We verify the auxiliary converter characteristics of Korean High Speed Train by this system.

  • The new cooling fan for various parts & equipments of KTX is developed and evaluated to improve fan performance and durability. The characteristic curve of the developed fan is obtained according to KSB 6311 of performance test regulation. 70 degree of the installation angle of blade makes the fan to produce a maximum flow rate. This angle is found out through trial-error and is confirmed through the verification test. In order to improve the blade strength, the blade is produced by a draw forming. The adoption of AL50 reduces a fan weight by 6 kg. The new blade makes a static pressure 170 (mmAq), a discharge rate $140(m^3/min)$, a rotational speed 2886 (rpm) at the power 10 kw. which results 54% of the static pressure improvement relative to the original blade.

  • In recent society, the electricity is so essential for the human lives. Lots of modern people take many cultural benefits owing to the development of the power systems, the cell phone, the electrical appliances, and etc. However, the problems related to the electromagnetic field generate as the side effects. Examples are the fault in the electric machinery due to the electromagnetic coupling, the fault in the communication devices due to the electromagnetic field around the power line equipments, and the effect upon the human beings due to the electromagnetic field, and etc. In this paper, we induce the vector equation about the magnetic field based on Biot-Savart law. We calculate the magnetic field at the surface of the high speed train with this induced equation and the current in the high speed railroad catenary wire. Finally, we calculate the magnetic field in the high speed train considering the material property like the permeability, the conductivity, and so on.

  • The rolling stock have to be tested and evaluated on test line before entry into service. The test items consist of traction performance, braking performance and current collection performance, etc. This paper is a study of defining the test items considering the domestic safety law, IEC 61133 and describes how to establish a test measurement system. Also this paper presents how to conduct the traction performance test and test results.

  • Establishing the realtime remote monitoring system of the moving test train is the important issue for the railway systems that provide comfort travel to the passengers. But it is not easy to transmit train's test data to remote site because the train runs tunnels. In this paper, we introduce the realtime monitoring system using wireless communication system which is installed in the test train. This system can provide both correct positions of unstable track and train's running status such as speed, kilopost and acceleration.

  • In this paper, the simplified method for 2-dimensional train/track/bridge interaction analysis is utilized in the analysis of dynamic behavior of bridges in which the eccentricity of axle loads and the effect of the toriosnal forces acting on the bridge are included for the more accurate train/track/bridge interaction analysis. Inverstigations mainly into the influence of vehicle speed on train/track/bridge interactions are carried out for the two cases. The first case is that only train and bridge are considered in the modelling and the other case is that train, track and bridge are considered.

  • KHSR(Korean High Speed Railway) had achieved the maximum speed of 350 km/h last year. And then, we have concentrated to improve the reliability of the overall system, in particular, motor block of the locomotive. In this paper, simple technique for operating PWM converters under the voltage distortion is introduced. In addition, the electrical braking technique is also made to have the braking capability under the dead zone. Test results revealed the verification of the proposed techniques.

The system requirement assist the system designer to understand the performance and function of system in basic design. For this process, system engineer have to manage the system requirement. This paper proposes the management contents of system requirement such as change management, requirement traceability, etc, for HEMU-400X.

  • The HEMU-400X(High-speed Electric Multiple Unit 400km/h eXperimental) project starts in 2007. It is required to analysis and simulate the train performance throughout the project life cycle for a successful completion of the project. This paper is devoted to the development of a train performance analysis model for the high-speed electric multiple unit 400km/h experimental. The model consist of running resistance model, train model, traction model and braking model. So, this paper represents the results of the train performance analysis.
