Analysis of research trends on infants and school-age-child: Focusing on Journal of The Korean Society for School & Community Health Education from 2000 to 2023 (영·유아기 및 학령기 아동에 관한 연구동향 분석: 2000~2023년 한국학교·지역보건교육학회지 게재논문을 중심으로)

  • Purpose: This study aims to analyze the current status of research related to infants and school-age-child published in the journal of Korean society for school & community health education from 2000 to 2023, with the goal of contributing to the future development and enhancement of the journal. Method: From 2000 to 2023, 52 papers were analyzed, comparing and classifying their journal topic, research types, data collection methods, and data analysis methods. Results: The results shows that the highest publication trend occurred between 2008 and 2012, with most studies focusing on school-age children. In terms of research topic, 'health behavior and health education' was the most frequent with 14 papers (26.9%), followed by oral health with 9 papers (17.3%), safety management with 7 papers (13.5%), and sexual awareness with 6 papers (11.5%). Quantitative research was the most common research type, with surveys being the primary data collection method. Descriptive statistics and t-test were the most frequently used data analysis methods. Conclusion: To enhance the quality of the journal of Korean society for school & community health education, there should be an expansion of evidence-based research focusing on infants and school-age children. Additionally, there is a need for greater diversity in research design, data collection, and analysis methods.

Research trends in Journal of The Korean Society for School & Community Health Education on Vulnerable Populations from 2000 to 2023: Based on the elderly and people with disabilities (한국학교·지역보건교육학회지 2000년~2023년 취약 계층 연구 동향: 노인과 장애인을 중심으로)

  • Purpose: This study aims to identify research trends in papers related to the elderly and the disabled published in the journal of Korean society for school & community health education from 2000 to 2023 and seek the direction of the academic development of this journal in the future. Method: A total of 26 articles related to the elderly and the disabled, who are vulnerable groups, were analyzed by year by analyzing the specific subjects, research themes, research design, data collection methods, and keywords of papers published from 2000 to 2023. Results: Looking at the research subjects, studies on the elderly (18 studies) accounted for a larger proportion than studies on the disabled (8 studies). Research themes in the field of healthy living practices for the elderly (44.4%) and research in the field of mental health management (37.5%) for the disabled accounted for a high proportion. The design of research were mostly quantitative and cross-sectional studies. Data collection is mostly based on secondary data. In studies targeting the elderly, keywords appeared in the following order: 'Health' and 'Elderly'. And research targeting the disabled appeared in the following order: 'Disabilities', 'Health', and 'COVID-19'. Additionally, research on the elderly and the disabled has recently shown an increasing trend. Conclusion: Research on the elderly and the disabled has been conducted in line with the purpose of the Korean society for school & community health education, However, In terms of quantitative expansion and qualitative research, research themes, research designs, and data collection methods must be diversified. Methods, public perception. Additionally, research on vulnerable groups that fit the public health promotion and health education paradigm is needed.

The Scope of Environment in School Health (학교보건에서 환경의 영역)

  • This study redefined school health environment in Korea, especially inter-school environment, according to the comprehensive meaning of health. The scope of inter-school health environment was classified into physical environment, biological chemical environment, social environment, and mental. emotional environment. While the environment management was classified into safety management, hygiene management, and living management according to management method, These analytical tools will contribute to a better understanding of the scope of school health and will be an available resource in school health practice.

  • This study was conducted to prepare information about foodborne disease outbreaks by year, eating place, etiological agent, area, and type of school lunch program. In the study, the reported data was reviewed, but only the data during recent five years were mainly analyzed because of data shortage.
