  • Carbon coils could be synthesized using $C_2H_2/H_2$ as source gases and $SF_6$ as an incorporated additive gas under thermal chemical vapor deposition system. The Ni layer on the $SiO_2$ substrate was used as a catalyst for the formation of the carbon coils. The characteristics (formation densities, morphologies, and geometries) of the as-grown carbon coils on the substrate with or without the $H_2$ plasma pretreatment process were investigated. By the relatively short time (1 minute) $H_2$ plasma pretreatment on the Ni catalyst layered-substrate prior to the carbon coils synthesis reaction, the dominant formation of the carbon microcoils on the substrate could be achieved. After the relatively long time (30 minutes) $H_2$ plasma pretreatment process, on the other hand, we could obtain the noble-shaped geometrical nanostructures, namely the formation of the numerous carbon nanocoils along the growth of the carbon microcoils. This noble-shaped geometrical nanostructure seemed to play a promising role as the good catalyst support for holding the very tiny Ni catalyst grains.

  • This study intends to analyze the relationships between images of arboreta or botanical gardens and the policy supports related to carrying capacity. For this purpose, a questionnaire survey was distributed to 723 public sites nationwide. The results consisting of an exploratory factor analysis, a confirmatory factor analysis, a correlation analysis, and a structural equation method showed that the images of the arboretum or botanical gardens contained 3 factors: cognitive, affective and shape factors. The cognitive factors greatly affected the policy support related to carrying capacity. The policymakers of the arboretum or botanical gardens can consider cognitive elements of images as important aspects in the planning and management factors to improve the support of visitors related to the policies of carrying capacity for sustainable use.

  • Finite element analyses were conducted to investigate the size effect on the bearing capacity and settlement of shallow foundations, and the results were compared with those of theoretical equations. The calculated bearing capacity of the plate by numerical analysis and the theoretical equation was similar. Numerical analyses showed that the ultimate bearing capacity of strip footing on sand was affected by the size effect, whereas the ultimate bearing capacity of strip footing on clay was not affected by the size effect. Numerical analyses showed that the square footing was unaffected by the size effect regardless of the type of foundation soil. In contrast to theoretical equations, settlement of the footing was affected by the size effect and was proportional to the footing width.

  • We analyzed how insole affects the dynamic stability and the balance while a body moves or stops. Specially we've sorted out variations of individual balance ability while we make a longitudinal arch stop artificially as a usual situation(just standing and putting one's weight). We found ten men and girls each with suitable feet for our experimentation as the subject of investigation and made individual insole for them by measuring medial longitudinal arch. Then we compared before and after movement of the power point of application and a pattern of COP using the Tetrax balance equipment. We found out it is better for balance ability when we wear insoles. It turned out to be helpful for increasing balance ability of body to use insole which supports medial longitudinal arch of longitudinal arch well.

  • Reliability analysis of jacket type offshore wind turbine (OWT) support structure under extreme ocean environmental loads was performed. Limit state function (LSF) of OWF support structure is defined by using structural dynamic response at mud-line. Then, the dynamic response is expressed as the static response multiplied by dynamic response factor (DRF). Probabilistic distribution of DRF is found from response time history under design significant wave load. Band limited beta distribution is used for internal friction angle of ground soil. Wind load is obtained in the form of thrust force from commercial code called GH_Bladed and then, applied to tower hub as random load. In a numerical example, the response surface method (RSM) is used to express LSF of jacket type support structure for 5MW OWF. Reliability index is found using first order reliability method (FORM).

  • This study examined the effects of social support and self-esteem on subjective happiness in middle-aged women. The study was conducted on 300 middle-aged women living in U city area from February 1 to February 28, 2018. The questionnaire was used to analyze 250 available copies of the questionnaire. Data were analyzed by descriptive statistics, correlation analysis, and hierarchical regression analysis. The results showed positive correlation between social support, self-esteem, and subjective happiness of middle-aged women. The influence of social support and self-esteem on subjective happiness of middle-aged women came out to be statistically significant in the final model (F = 27.007, p <.001). The study intends to provide basic data for improving the quality of life of middle-aged women.

  • The purpose of this study was to investigate the differential effects of the determinants of life satisfaction among the elderly and a variety of health, economic, leasure activity, social support and psychological variables were comprehensively examined as determinants of life satisfaction among the elderly. The sample of this study was composed of 347 old people participating in the leasure activity programs operated by 10 facilities for the aged in Seoul. Data were collected using structured questionnaires and analyzed employing structural equation modelling technique as a main data analysis method. It was found that subjective health condition, subjective economic level, productive and consumptive leasure activities, spouse and children support, self-esteem and extraversion had positive effects on life satifaction among the elderly. The theoretical and practical implications of this study were discussed and the directions for future research were suggested.

  • This study investigated the mediating effects of resilience and social support on the association between psychological and spiritual well-being. The survey findings and resulting analysis of the 236 participants measured their psychological well-being, spiritual well-being, resilience, and social support follow: First, psychological well-being, resilience, and social support showed a positive correlation with spiritual well-being. Resilience shows high correlations with psychological and spiritual well-being. Second, the relationship between psychological and spiritual well-being was partially mediated by resilience, but was not mediated by social support. Lastly, the influence of resilience sub factors(self control capability, interpersonal relationship ability, positivity) on spiritual well-being shows that positivity was highly significant. Finally, this study discusses educational implications for increasing spiritual well-being for pastors' wives.

  • The purpose of this study is to examine the Influence of burden of care for families of the mentally disabled on the quality of life and the moderating effect of family resilience and social support. This study carried out a survey of 102 families of the mentally disabled registered in the mental health centers and social rehabilitation facilities in Seoul, Gyeonggi and Incheon areas. As a result, first, the burden of caring for families of the mentally disabled has a negative impact on the quality of life. Second, family resilience has a moderating effect on the relationship between the burden of care and the quality of life of families of the mentally disabled. The subscales of family resilience were all buffered. Finally, social support has proved to be moderating in the relationship between the burden of care and the quality of life. Based on the results of this study, it was suggested that the need for providing information for improving the resilience of the family is needed, and the institutional support to mitigate the economic burden of the mental disabled family's social support network is needed.

  • The Purpose of this study is to examine the effect of communication competence and empathy on stress coping in college students. The research problems were verified by correlation analysis and multivariate regression analysis. A questionnaire survey was conducted on 292 college students. The findings are as follows. First, college students who have high communication competence show more problem-focused coping, social-support seeking coping, and self-soothing coping in stressful conditions, but less emotion-oriented coping and avoidance-oriented coping. Particularly, it is found that behavioral flexibility in communication competence has the greatest effect on problem-focused coping and emotion-oriented coping. Similarly, affiliation/support influences social support seeking coping, interaction management influences self-soothing coping and avoidance-oriented coping. Second, college students who have high empathy are also found more problem-focused coping, social-support seeking coping, and self-soothing coping in stressful conditions. Especially it is found that role-taking in empathy has the greatest effect on problem-focused coping self-soothing coping. Similarly, emotion recognition influences avoidance-oriented coping, emotional resonance influences emotion-oriented coping, authenticity influences social-support seeking coping.
