  • The purpose of this study was to explore factors associated with life satisfaction among nursery school teachers. To accomplish the study purpose, this study first classified several variables into three broad categories including work environment (social support & work environment), job-related environment (work-related stress & job satisfaction), and burnout. And then, 302 nursery school teachers across the country were surveyed in order to explore whether those factors were associated with life satisfaction. The overall results were as follows. First, social support and work environment had a direct impact on the satisfaction with life. Second, social support and job satisfaction had a direct influence on job satisfaction. Third, social support, work-related stress and job satisfaction directly influenced burnout. Fourth, job-related environment, job satisfaction, and burnout had a direct impact on life satisfaction. Overall, it was found that job-related environment, job satisfaction, and burnout had a direct influence on life satisfaction among nursery school teachers and social support and work-related stress had an indirect effect on life satisfaction via burnout.

  • During pregnancy, the woman experiences physical and psycho-social changes. Such changes and other factors may become stress for the pregnant woman, making it difficult to maintain healthy and happy pregnant period. In this study, we identify factors for the stress, marital intimacy, family support, and fatigue, in order to provide the foundation for developing intervention programs and improve the quality of nursing. The subjects of there search were 185 pregnant women. Stress had a negative correlation with marital intimacy and family support, and positive correlation with fatigue. Family support, fatigue, adjustment to change due to pregnant, and breastfeeding experience were the influencing factors on the stress of pregnant women. A stress management program for pregnant women needs to be designed to help them with their physical and psychological adjustments. The program will be more effective when accompanied by the family support.

  • This paper presents the results of a numerical investigation on the load carrying capacity and consolidation behavior of suction piles. Three dimensional numerical models which reflect realistic ground conditions and installation procedures including the ground-suction pile interface were adopted to conduct a parametric study on variables such as the length-diameter ratio and the loading configurations, i.e, vertical, horizontal, and combined loads. The results indicated that the load carrying capacity of a suction pile can only be realistically obtained when the interface behavior between the suction pile and the ground is correctly modeled. Also carried out was the stress-pore pressure coupled analysis to investigate the consolidation behavior of the suction pile after the application of a vertical loading. Based on the results, failure envelops and associated equations were developed, which can be used to estimate load carrying capacity of suction piles installed in similar conditions considered in this study. The results of consolidation analysis based on the stress-pore pressure coupled analysis indicate that no significant excess pore pressure and associated consolidation settlement occur for the loading configuration considered in part due to the load transfer mechanism of the suction pile.

  • This study proposes an improvement plan for the evaluation of the bearing capacity and settlement of sewer pipe bases for the improvement of design methods for determining pipe breakage. Under the same conditions, the safety of crushed stone foundation was the lowest. Concrete VR pipe and prefabricated plastic foundations were found to be safe at most excavation depths. The bearing capacity of a rigid pipe foundation was determined by the shape of the foundation, soil conditions, and groundwater, irrespective of the type of foundation. As the depth of the excavation increases, the settlement tends to decrease immediately, and as the diameter of the pipe increases, the settlement tends to increase immediately at the same depth. It is thus reasonable to consider the bearing capacity and the instant settlement amount to solve the problems caused by the settlement of a rigid sewer pipe.

  • In this study, the axial stiffness of reinforcing piles (Kvr) for the vertical extension remodeling structures was estimated through 3D finite element analysis. In the computation of the minimum required axial stiffness of reinforcing piles, proposed maximum axial stiffness of old and deteriorated existing piles (Kve) based on theoretical and experimental approaches will be applied. Through this, the required increase rate of axial stiffness of reinforcing piles in order to support the increased structural loading was proposed for end-bearing and friction piles by different slenderness ratio (L/D). The numerical model was validated by comparing the computed results with actual field measurements. Based on the computed results, it was concluded that the end-bearing reinforcing pile needs 44% - 67% increase in axial stiffness to deal with the deterioration of existing piles and support the additional structural load due to vertical extension remodeling.

  • With the increasing use of geotextile mats in dredging and reclaiming work and coastal construction, the assessment of bearing capacity in soft ground has become an important evaluation index for negligent accidents. The review of the allowable bearing capacity of soft ground consisting of inhomogeneous layers by laying geotextile mats and sand mat layers for soft ground improvement is generally compared with the equation of Meyerhof (1974) and Yamanouchi (1985). Mayerhof formula results in economic loss due to underestimation of bearing capacity, and Yamanouchi (1985) formula does not take into account negligent accidents for punching shear failure, so rather high bearing capacity is evaluated. It is considered that economic feasibility and stability will be ensured by proposing a modified formula to calculate the appropriate bearing capacity by applying the seam tensile strength of the geotextile mat to the design standard of soft ground improvement.

  • The bucket platform is a new structure suitable for construction of offshore bridge foundations and providing the temporary support for equipments and labour. The platform can be subjected to moment loading due to the eccentric loading or the horizontal load by wave and wind. Therefore, a three dimensional finite element analysis was performed to evaluate the moment bearing capacity of the bucket platform, varying soil density, the diameter and embedment depth of the bucket. The numerical modeling was verified and compared with the moment-rotation curve from a field loading test. The uniform sandy ground was assumed and the moment load was applied at the top plate of the platform, increasing bucket rotation. The moment-rotation relations were analyzed to determine the moment capacity, which was influenced by the embedment depth and diameter of the bucket. Finally, a preliminary design equation was suggested to estimate the moment bearing capacity.

  • The purpose of this study is to empirically analyze the structural relationship between parental rearing attitude, social support for teenagers and the mobile phone dependency. In this paper, we survey for teenagers in Gmetropolitan city and the collected data were analyzed using Amos 18.0. The results showed that the parental rearing attitude had a significant influence on social support for teenagers and also the parenting attitude and social support had a important effect on teenagers' mobile phone dependency. In addition, social support was found to have a mediating effect on the relationship between parental rearing attitude and teenagers' mobile phone dependency. Therefore, we resulted that parental rearing attitude and social supports were important variable factors to lower the teenagers' mobile phone dependency.

  • This study was to identify the factors influencing the quality of life for the elderly with disabilities in the aging society. For this purpose, this study tried to examine the relationship between the factors which are Social support, Decrease in depression of the elderly with disabilities and Quality of life for the elderly with disabilities, and also identify the moderating effect of living independence. This study tested the research model based on panel data of the elderly with disabilities in Korea Welfare Panel Study. Th result are as follows: First, social support(family support and peer support) positively impact on depression of the elderly with disabilities. Second, decrease in depression of the elderly with disabilities positively impact on the quality of life for the elderly with disabilities. Finally, the higher living independence of the elderly with disabilities, decrease in depression of the elderly with disabilities positively impact on life support services and treatment services whereas does not impact on leisure life significantly.

  • The degree of difficulty in low-income elderly people who living alone' life satisfaction is increased. The aim of this study is to find factors affecting the low-income elderly people who living alone' life satisfaction by examining the comparative influence of loneliness, family support, social support. For achieving this purpose, this study analyzed data of 300 low-income elderly people who living alone in Gyeonggi province. Findings of the study identified that the factors affecting the life satisfaction were health status, loneliness, family support, social support. Further, family support and social support had a significant influence on the low-income elderly people who living alone' life satisfaction even after controlling the influences of other factors. On the basis of the results, practical suggestions to increase the life satisfaction of low-income elderly people who living alone were discussed.
