사회적기업, 협동조합, 소셜벤처 등 사회적경제의 부상으로 이들이 전체 경제에서 차지하는 비중이 커지고 있어 북한, 통일 관련 연구에서도 접목이 필요하다. 사회적경제는 북한·통일 문제와 어떤 연관이 있는지에 대해 통일정책과 통일 역량 강화의 측면에서 나누어 고찰했다. 전자에 포괄되는 주제로는 통일국가의 미래상, 북한경제의 유사성 및 변화가 있다. 후자와 관련되는 주제로는 남북교류협력, 북한이탈주민정책, 통일교육에 대한 함의를 다뤘다. 통일국가의 미래상과 관련하여 사회적경제는 통일경제의 부작용에 대한 완충기제로 작동할 수 있을 것으로 예상된다. 사회적경제는 자본주의의 발전에 따라 제기되는 사회적 문제를 해결하고자 하는 보완적 성격의 경제활동으로 이해된다. 따라서 향후 자유시장경제 방식의 통일이 진행되는 경우, 남한 자본주의의 문제점이 전 한반도로 확산되는 부작용에 대한 대안적 해결방안으로 작동할 수 있을 것으로 기대된다. 사회적경제가 북한경제, 나아가 사회주의 경제와 유사성이 있는지에 대해서는 논란이 있다. 향후 이에 대한 연구 성과에 따라 북한경제의 변화를 추동하는 동력으로서 사회적경제의 영향력을 가늠할 수 있을 것이다. 남북교류협력과 관련해서는 우선, 교류협력이 재개되는 경우 사회적경제기업의 참여를 어떻게 추동하고 지원할 것인지에 대한 대안을 내놓을 필요가 있다. 일반 기업 또한 사회적경제 관점을 활용해 북한 진출에 나설 수 있을 것으로 예상할 수 있고, 이 때 중요한 사회적경제의 키워드는 BOP 시장이다. 사회적경제는 북한이탈주민을 취약계층으로 자리매김하고 있는데, 향후에는 적극적으로 사회적경제의 창업의 주체로 육성할 필요성이 있다는 점도 제기하였다. 통일교육과 관련해서는 대상, 주체, 내용과 관련한 시론적 차원의 접근을 정리하였다. 사회적경제의 부상이 북한학 연구에 미치는 영향에 대해서는 더 많은 새로운 상상력의 발휘가 요구된다.

Taking note of growing tendency of academic interests and policy applications with regard to social economy, this study aims to suggest economic geographical agenda for social economy. It is presumed that the orientation of social economy toward pursuing social value will exhibit unique spatial characteristics. Elements containing spatial implications have been identified through a review of hierarchial concepts including social innovation, social economy organization and social enterprise. Three approached are suggested as tools of understanding the spatial context of social economy: spatial characteristics inspiring social entrepreneurship, place-based context of decision-making by social economy organizations, and spaces formulated by interactions between the demand for solving social problems and the supply of economic resources. The investigation of social innovation clusters is required to focus on the differentiated characteristics from normal industrial clusters. It is also suggested that the concept of embeddedness be applied in the search of the essence and elements of social economy's ties with local community.

This study started with concerns for corporate philanthropy that is emerging as an alternative for resource development of social work field in Korea. However, corporate philanthropy is not operating as an accomplished conception yet, but as a type of the practical discourse. Therefore corporate philanthropy is interpreted a multiplicity of meanings is used ambiguously in social work practice field. This is because theoretical reviews on the conceptual thinking of corporate philanthropy are scant and is in need of empirical inquires into conceptual perception of social workers who uses this concept as a stakeholder to corporate philanthropy. After analyzing the data using Q methodology, the result shows that social workers' major perception patterns on corporate philanthropy perspective consists of three patterns; Win-Win Partnership, Social-obligation, Strategic Materialism. These patterns are classified by the dimension of 'classical view', 'socio-economic view', 'modern view' and 'philanthrophic view'. This result will attribute to develop theories, social work practice program and social worker' training program related corporate philanthropy. And to give facilities for lucid communication among practice and theory in social work field as it materializes the explicit conception of corporate philanthropy that is understood ambiguously in Korea.

This Study has been conducted to examine the transition of Japanese 'Social Welfare' in the light of Monthly Welfare which is the oldest professional journal of social welfare in Japan. Especially, this study has insisted on grasping the interaction among politics, economy, society, and culture through social historic perspective. Consequentially, some important themes are emerged from the journal which had been changed as time passes(Charity, Society and Relief, Social Work, Public Welfare Work, Social Work, and Monthly Welfare) as follows; 'strict declaration of charity and relief', 'relief work and social worker', 'professionalism and science of social work ', 'national life rebuilding and localization of welfare facilities', 'new face of livelihood protection and social work', 'community work and fund raising', and the like. In particular, it is revealed that 'Sahoisaup' is a word of translation from Social Work, in addition this word has been used as a word including diverse works in Japan. Also, it is emphasized that the necessity of Japanese experience could be studied in Korea.

This study investigated the mechanism and the degree of the effects of social capital on children's depression by using the Korean National Child and Adolescent Panel data Yr. 1. We predicted that the human capital of a child's family such as education and income would influence children's depression directly, and indirectly through family and community social capital. We further predicted that the influence of the community social capital would be exerted on the depressive symptoms more so through the family social capital. The findings suggest that both the human capital and the community social capital influence children's depression through family social capital more so than directly. The findings underscore the importance of the qualities of family relationship for a child's mental health and suggested family policies and intervention strategies that strengthen families.

While social desirability has been neglected in the field of social work research in Korea, social work articles published in foreign journals have tried to identify respondents with a high level of social desirability and to control the effect of social desirability. The Social Desirability Scale (SDS-24) is the first social desirability scale developed by a Korean research is composed of two factors, self deception and impression management. This study was conducted to improve its practicability by evaluating its psychometric properties with social work practitioners and students. The findings of this study are satisfactory. The factor structure of the Social Desirability Scale (SDS-24) was confirmed and its reliability and validity were satisfactory. The advantage of the Social Desirability Scale (SDS-24) is that it includes items related to Korean culture. The ways of using Social Desirability Scale (SDS-24) in social work research are provided.

Korean society has experienced so-called 'societal crisis' in many aspects of society for a couple of decades and those crises include both natural disasters and tragic catastrophes. Given that, this study purports to investigate, first of all, what is the definition of crisis in general and societal crisis in specific. Next question is what are the major types of societal crises and what are the indicators for those crises. As a result, many areas of societal crisis and corresponding indicators in each area will be introduced. Finally, this study tries to establish a new definition of societal crises based upon a more sociological, more specifically a more phenomenological point of view. For these research purpose, in-depth review for previous research on the subject will be done including psychological and sociological materials. Final outcome of this study will be a new and experimental definition of societal crisis, which will provide the principle base for actual numeric indicators of societal crisis in both macro and micro level.
