Experimental Evaluation of Fatigue Threshold for SA-508 Reactor Vessel Steel (SA-508 압력용기용 강에 대한 피로균열성장 하한계 조건의 실험 평가)

  • This paper is concerned with a particular fracture mechanics parameter ${\Delta}K_{th}$, known as the 'threshold stress intensity range', or 'fatigue threshold'. This threshold ${\Delta}K_{th}$ constitutes, as it were, a hinge between the notion of crack initiation and the notion of crack growth. It has often been thought that, like the endurance limit, it could be an intrinsic criterion of the material. The study was conducted on a SA-508 pressure vessel steel used in the nuclear power industry. This material exhibits a typical threshold effect in the range of the crack growth rates which were determined; that is, below approximately $da/dN=10^{-6}mm/cycle$, the slope of the da./dN versus ${\Delta}K$ curve is almost vertical. The value of ${\Delta}K_{th}$ was determined at a growth rate of $10^{-7}$ mm/cycle according to the ASTM Standard for threshold testing. The fatigue threshold values are in the range 21 $kg/mm^{3/2}$ to 12 $kg/mm^{3/2}$ depending on the stress ratio effect.

유도결합플라즈마를 이용한 실리콘 나노입자 박막 물성변화 연구

  • 비정질 실리콘 박막 태양전지는 1970년대 중반 개발된 이후 현재까지 지속적으로 연구 개발이 이루어져 왔으며, 대면적의 용이성 및 재료 사용의 효율성 등 산업적 측면에서 많은 장점을 보이고 있다. 하지만, 재료 특유의 무질서(disorder)로 인한 Voc의 한계 및 광 열화 현상 등의 문제점이 극복해야 할 과제로 남아있다. 이를 개선하기 위한 시도 중 하나로 나노입자를 포함한 실리콘 박막 제작을 통해 재료의 무질서도를 낮추고 전기광학적 물성을 개선하는 방법이 제안되고 있다. 본 연구에서는 유도결합 플라즈마(ICP, Inductively coupled plasma)를 사용하여 제작한 실리콘 나노입자 박막으로 비정질 실리콘 박막의 한계를 극복하고자 한다. 실리콘 나노입자를 사용하여 조밀한 박막을 제작하는데 중요한 변수로는 유도결합 플라즈마 반응기 상, 하부의 압력차 및 이로 인한 제트분사의 속력, 그리고 나노 입자의 크기 등이 중요하게 작용한다. 합성된 입자의 크기와 물성의 변화는 유입되는 반응 가스의 양, 공정압력과 파워에 의존한다. 실리콘 나노입자 박막을 다양한 플라즈마 조건에 따라 제작한 후 XRD, Raman, SEM, TEM을 이용하여 물성 변화를 관찰하였으며, 이를 통해 박막태양전지로의 응용 가능성을 제시하고자 한다.

New Plastic Limit Load Equations of Pipes with Inner and Outer Circumferential Surface Cracks Considering Thickness Effect (내부 및 외부 원주방향 표면균열이 존재하는 배관의 두께효과를 고려한 소성한계하중 계산식 제시)

  • In this study, limit load equations of thick-walled pipes with inner and outer circumferential surface cracks were derived based on force and moment equilibrium conditions. Since the limit load equations based on the mean radius at uncracked ligament, previously proposed by Kanninen et al., are based on the premise that the pipe wall thickness is relatively thin, the existing limit load solutions are only applicable to thin-walled pipes. In order to analyze the effect of the pipe thickness and surface crack depth on the limit load results, the predictions using the present limit load equations are compared with those using the existing solutions for thin-walled pipes. Being derived considering the thickness effect, the limit load solutions from this paper are believed to be more accurate for thick-walled pipes than the limit load equations presented for thin-walled pipes, and thus to be valuable equations for integrity assessment of thick-walled pipes.

  • Based on detailed FE limit analyses, the present paper provides tractable approximations fer plastic limit pressure solutions fur axially through-wall-cracked pipe; axially (inner) surface-cracked pipe; circumferentially through-wall-cracked pipe; and circumferentially (inner) surface-cracked pipe. In particular, for surface crack problems, the effect of the crack shape, the semi-elliptical shape or the rectangular shape, on the limit pressure is quantified. Comparisons with existing analytical and empirical solutions show a large discrepancy in circumferential short through-wall cracks and in surface cracks (both axial and circumferential). Being based on detailed 3-D FE limit analysis, the present solutions are believed to be the most accurate, and thus to be valuable information not only for plastic collapse analysis of pressurised piping but also for estimating non-linear fracture mechanics parameters based on the reference stress approach.

  • Theoretical analysis for predicting the heat transport limitation of a copper powder sintered wick heat pipe was performed. The heat pipe diameter was 8mm and water was used for working fluid. The particle diameter was classified by 5 different meshes, and each capillary pressures and heat transport limitations. thermal resistances were analyzed according to the operating temperatures, wick thicknesses and inclination angles, based on the effective capillary radius($r_c$), porosity($\varepsilon$), Permeability (K). The wick capillary limitation was increased according as the particle diameter and the wick thickness and the operating temperature were increased. As the porosity and the capillary radius were larger. then the heat transport limitation was higher. The thermal resistance was greatly increased according as the wick thickness was increased.

  • A test was performed to collect the data to validate an analytic method for vent hole sizing on the nose fairing of a launch vehicle. The bake-out chamber at KARI was used to simulate the ambient pressure drop, and pressure difference data were collected for a model with various kinds of vent holes which was installed in the chamber. The characteristics of the test facility and measurement equipments were evaluated for the measurement of the transient behaviors. The measured data were processed in consideration of the characteristics of the facility and equipments, and the effects of vent hole size and configuration on the pressure variation in the model were analyzed based on the data.

  • Separate heat pipe exchanger is considered as the high thermal transportation equipment, because evaporator and condenser are separately positioned in the long distance. Its characteristics are that the working fluid is circulated naturally by the position height of two exchangers. But the operating characteristics are restricted by the temperature of hot and cold fluid, flow pattern and diameter of vapor line, etc. in this study, the vapor pressure and the minimum height of two exchangers are studied about the factors restricting the operating characteristics.

증착압력과 $O_2$ 농도 변화에 따른 Indium-zinc-tin-oxide(IZTO) 박막의 투명전도 특성에 관한 연구

  • Indium-tin-oxide(ITO)는 평판디스플레이 산업이 성장함에 따라 그 수요는 계속 늘고 있지만 세계적으로 In의 매장량의 한계로 그 단가가 매우 높다. 또한 ITO는 플렉시블 디스플레이에 적용함에 있어서 고온 공정으로 인해 많은 단점을 보이고 있어 이를 대체할 새로운 투명전극의 개발이 활발히 진행되고 있다. 본 연구에서는 IZTO($In_2O_3$:ZnO:$SnO_2$=80:10:10 wt.%)의 In 량을 절감한 조성의 타겟을 제조하였다. 그리고 유리기판 위에 IZTO 박막을 펄스 DC 마그네트론 스퍼터링을 이용하여 증착압력과 활성 산소의 분압을 변화시키며 증착하였다. 증착압력의 변화는 3mTorr~8mTorr 범위에서 제어하였고 활성 산소의 분압은 0%~3% 범위에서 제어하였으며 기판의 온도의 제어 없이 상온에서 증착하였다. 증착한 박막은 전기적, 광학적 및 구조적 특성 등을 조사하였다. 증착압력 6mTorr와 산소분압 2%의 조건에서 비저항은 $5.07{\times}10^{-4}\;({\Omega}{\cdot}cm)$, 캐리어 농도는 $2.96{\times}10^{20}(cm^{-3})$, 이동도는 $41.6(cm^{-2}/Vs)$로 가장 좋은 전기적 특성을 보였다. 박막의 투과율을 측정한 결과 평균 85% (400nm~800nm)이상의 우수한 광학적 특성을 보였다. 또한 이 IZTO 박막을 이용하여 OLED 소자를 제작하여 그 특성을 조사하였다. 조사 결과 플렉시블 디스플레이 분야에서 IZTO 박막은 In 절감효과와 상온 공정에서 우수한 투명전극 특성을 보여 ITO를 대체할 물질로 가능성을 보여주었다.

  • 본 논문은 벽면 이동 로봇의 진공흡착 방법 개선에 관한 연구로서, 로봇의 무게에 따른 중력을 견딜고 벽면에 흡착 및 이동할 수 있는 동작 환경을 시뮬레이션을 통해 효율적으로 설계한다. 이동로봇에 미치는 다양한 힘의 조건들을 판단하며 특히 벽의 수직방향으로 미는 힘과 챔버 내의 저압조건 등과의 상관관계를 고려하여 흡착 능력을 개선하기 위한 방법을 제시하고 실험을 통해 성능을 검증하였다 또 한 본 연구에서는 압력센서를 이용하여 실시간으로 압력을 체크 하면서 모터의 속도인 PWM의 한계치를 설정하여 압력에 따라 필요한 임펠러의 속도를 PWM으로 적절히 조절해줌으로써 흡착에 관련된 제어 능력을 개선하고 흡착에 필요한 일정 압력 값에 도달하지 못할 때 작업이 종료되는 기술을 개발하였다.

Control of pressure and thrust for a variable thrust solid propulsion system using linearization (선형화 기법을 이용한 가변추력 고체추진 기관의 압력 및 추력 제어)

  • Solid propulsion systems have simple structures compared to other propulsion systems and are suitable to long-term storage. However the systems generally have limits on control of thrust levels. In this paper we suggest control algorithms for combustion chamber pressure of variable thrust solid propulsion systems using special nozzles such as pintle valve. For this we use a simple pressure change model by considering only mass conservation within the combustion chamber, design a classical algorithm and also a nonlinear controller using feedback linearization technique. Derived thrust equation and designe a thrust control model. We design the proportion-integral controller for linearizing about operating point. We also demonstrate the performance of controller model through numerical simulations.
