The Analysis of Biology in the 6th Middle School Science Textbooks based on Criteria for Selecting Curriculum Objectives (교육과정의 목표 설정 준거에 따른 제 6차 중학교 과학교과서 생물영역 분석)

  • This study is to make suggestion for developing textbook systematically by analyzing biological contents and organization in science textbooks which are important instructional media to accomplish objectives of the 6th middle school science curriculum. The inclusiveness degree of the 6th science educational objectives reflected in the textbooks was analyzed by Klopfer's and the Korean Educational Department's objectives taxonomy. And the biological contents and the organization of the science textbook were analyzed by learner, subject matter, and society dimensions which are selecting criteria for curriculum objectives suggested in Tyler's curriculum model. The analyzed results are as follows: 1. The inclusiveness degree of the educational objectives was very low. 2. Regarding the dimension of learner, the concepts of formal operational cognitive level were much increased as grade becomes higher. And the degree of learner's interests reflected on the learning topics and domains was very low. 3. Regarding the dimension of subject matter, the concept-centered learning was increased, in relation to inquiry learning as grade becomes higher. The analyzed results of inquiry subskills showed that observation, classification, and recording skills in 1st grade, observation and operation skills in 2nd grade, and interpreting data skills in 3rd grade were centered. As the problems and processes were presented, so most of inquiry activities had low openness scale. The learning contexts were organized into discipline-centered in relation to real life. 4. Regarding society dimension, the learning topics of environments and health were much presented. but those of biotechnology and career were presented scarcely. And most learning topics related society dimension were organized in textbooks of the 2nd and 3rd grade. These suggested that to accomplish curriculum objectives effectively. the inclusiveness degree of educational objectives is to increase and, the contents and organization of textbook were constructed harmoniously in aspects of learner, subject matter and society dimensions.

Effects of Instructional Material Using ICT at High School Earth Science (고등학교 지구과학 수업에서 ICT 활용 수업자료의 효과)

  • This study investigated the effects of the application of a variety of ICTs cause the effects on self-directed learning capability, creativity and problem-solving ability. In order to achieve the above aim, Web-Based Instructions(WBI) and instructions using CD-ROM Titles for the unit of 'the solar system and the galaxy' were applicated and analyzed which belongs to the area of 'the earth' in the subject 'science' for high school students. Instructions using WBI materials and CD-ROM titles were found to be effective on 'self-conception', 'creativity', 'future inclination', 'self-assessment ability', 'openness' and' initiative' improvement all of which belong to self-directed learning characteristics. They did not, however, show meaningful effect on improving 'learning eagemess' and 'responsibility' improvement. On looking into self-directed learning characteristics according to prerequisite learning levels, both groups and these for instruction using CD-ROM learning materials were found to have no effect on interaction. With respect to problem-solving ability improvement which is characteristic of the instruction using ICTs, WBI proved more fruitful than instruction using CD-ROM titles on improving scholastic achievement level. WBI was effective on 'fluency', 'originality' and 'resistance to premature closure'. It on the other hand, was of no use on 'abstraction of titles' and 'elaborateness' These results came from the following characteristics: WBI came into effect on 'fluency' and 'originality' in the areas of variety and vitality, which are characteristic of WBI. In the area of resistance to premature closure WBI was effective on organizing learning contents owing to the animation of picture materials which are variously presented in the web site. As a result of WBI questionnaire about WBI, an excellent effect on the structure of display, quantity of information, indication and instruction, supplementary study and further study were discussed.

  • Firms are becoming increasingly dependent on external resources for a competitive advantage in environmental turbulence, the requisite speed of organizational change. Therefore, they focused on an 'Open Innovation'. This study examined the relationships among entrepreneurial orientation, learning orientation, open innovation, and new product development. The results provide broad support for the following: (1) entrepreneurial orientation and learning orientation strongly drive open innovation, (2) open innovation has a significant effect on new product development, and (3) learning orientation has a positive effect on open innovation and new product development. These results provide unique insight into how firms develop new product through open innovation. This study also addresses the implications of these results and the possible limitations of the research.

고등교육기관의 평가인증제가 대학 경영성과에 미치는 영향 -전문대학을 중심으로

  • 본 연구는 고등교육기관의 평가인증제가 대학의 경영성과에 어떠한 영향을 미치는지를 알아보기 위하여 1주기 기관평가인증제가 대학 균형성과표(BSC) 4가지 관점의 성과에 미치는 영향을 검증할 목적으로 진행되었다. 이를 위하여 고등교육기관의 1주기 평가인증제에 대한 내용을 살펴보고, 대학 조직의 균형성과표(BSC) 및 1주기 기관평가인증제의 성과분석에 대한 선행연구에 대해 살펴보았다. 그리고 독립변수인 기관평가인증제 즉, 기관평가인증제도에 대한 관심의 정도, 기관평가인증의 평가준비에 대한 적절성, 기관평가인증의 자체평가에 대한 만족도가 대학 균형성과표(BSC)의 고객관점, 내부프로세스 관점, 학습과 성장 관점, 재무 관점의 4가지 성과에 미치는 영향을 분석 검증하였다. 기존의 1주기 기관평가인증제의 성과분석에 관한 선행 연구들은 주로 평가인증제 체제 자체의 성과와 각 평가요소에 있어서 대학의 변화에 초점을 두고 성과를 분석함으로써 정작 기관평가인증제가 평가인증의 평가대상인 대학의 경영성과에 미친 영향에 대한 분석은 제대로 이루어지지 못하였다. 이러한 점에서 기관평가인증제가 대학의 경영성과에 미친 영향을 분석한 결과 첫째, 기관평가인증제중 기관평가인증의 평가준비에 대한 적절성과 기관평가인증의 자체평가에 대한 만족도는 대학 BSC의 고객 성과에 정(+)의 영향을 미치지만, 기관평가인증제도에 대한 관심 정도는 고객 성과에 영향을 미치지 않는 것으로 나타났다. 둘째, 기관평가인증제 중 기관평가인증의 평가준비에 대한 적절성과 기관평가인증의 자체평가에 대한 만족도는 대학 BSC의 내부프로세스 성과에 정(+)의 영향을 미치지만, 기관평가인증제도에 대한 관심 정도는 내부프로세스 성과에 영향을 미치지 않는 것으로 나타났다. 셋째, 기관평가인증제 중 기관평가인증제도에 대한 관심 정도와 기관평가인증의 자체평가에 대한 만족도는 대학 BSC의 학습과 성장 성과에 정(+)의 영향을 미치지만, 기관평가인증의 평가준비에 대한 적절성은 학습과 성장 성과에 영향을 미치지 않는 것으로 나타났다. 넷째, 기관평가인증제 중 기관평가인증의 평가준비에 대한 적절성과 기관평가인증의 자체평가에 대한 만족도는 대학 BSC의 재무 성과에 정(+)의 영향을 미치지만, 기관평가인증제도에 대한 관심 정도는 재무 성과에 영향을 미치지 않는 것으로 나타났다. 이는 기관평가인증의 평가준비와 자체평가 과정을 통해 실질적인 교육체계 혁신이나 내부프로세스 효율성 향상으로 인해 교육의 질이 개선되어 학생의 만족도와 선호도가 높아지며, 아울러 안정적 재원확보와 재원의 효율적 관리를 가져오는 것으로 해석된다. 그리고 기관평가인증제도에 대한 인식과 관심은 인증 획득이라는 목표를 설정하게 하고, 기관평가인증의 자체평가를 통해 인증평가에서 요구하는 기준 이상을 충족하도록 학습과 혁신이 이루어지는 것으로 해석할 수 있다. 본 연구의 결과는 학령인구의 급감 등 급변하는 대학의 대내외 환경에서 생존을 넘어 지속가능한 발전을 도모하기 위해 평가인증제를 다양한 대학의 경영성과로 연계할 경영전략 수립에 유용한 정보를 제공할 것이다.

A Study on the 6th Middle School Science Curriculum and Its Implementation (제 6차 중학교 과학 교육과정과 그 운영에 대한 조사 연구)

  • We have investigated the 6th middle school science curriculum and its implementation based upon the results of middle school science teachers' and professors' ratings and self-reportings. The national-wide survey was administrated to obtain the data from 213 teachers of 112 middle schools and 43 professors of colleges of education. The survey items correspond to four stages of science curriculum. In the stage of the planned science curriculum, 'goals', 'framework of contents' and 'contents' are relevant to the basic guideline for curriculum revision, 'the more emphasis on inquiry activities'. However, the amount of contents is not appropriate, and 'methods' are difficult to attain. In the stage of the written science curriculum, 'goals', 'framework of contents', 'contents', 'methods' and 'evaluations' are not useful for teachers to teach science. In the stage of the implemented science curriculum, a small number of teachers use the issues of local community, organize the different group activities, develop assessment tools cooperatively, and conduct a lesson and a program considering students' diversities. This is partially because of the large amount of learning contents, the lack of materials and the weakness of supporting system. Finally, in the stage of the attained science curriculum, the students' achievements under the 6th curriculum is not higher than those under the other curricula.

A Study on the Learning-Teaching Plan about a Essential Concept of Decimal Fraction Based on Decimal Positional Notation (위치적 십진기수법을 본질로 하여 조직한 소수 개념 지도 방안 연구)

  • In this thesis, we designed a experimental learning-teaching plan of 'decimal fraction concept' at the 4-th grade level. We rest our plan on two basic premises. One is the fact that a essential concept of decimal fraction is 'polynomial of which indeterminate is 10', and another is the fact that the origin of decimal fraction is successive measurement activities which improving accuracy through decimal partition of measuring unit. The main features of our experimental learning-teaching plan is as follows. Firstly, students can experience a operation which generate decimal unit system through decimal partitioning of measuring unit. Secondly, the decimal fraction expansion will be initially introduced and the complete representation of decimal fraction according to positional notation will follow. Thirdly, such various interpretations of decimal fraction as 3.751m, 3m+7dm+5cm+1mm, $(3+\frac{7}{10}+\frac{5}{100}+\frac{1}{1000})m$ and $\frac{3751}{1000}m$ will be handled. Fourthly, decimal fraction will not be introduced with 'unit decimal fraction' such as 0.1, 0.01, 0.001, ${\cdots}$ but with 'natural number+decimal fraction' such as 2.345. Fifthly, we arranged a numeration activity ruled by random unit system previous to formal representation ruled by decimal positional notation. A experimental learning-teaching plan which presented in this thesis must be examined through teaching experiment. It is necessary to successive research for this task.

  • The curriculum of integrated social studies is not conceptually established, but various forms pursuing so-called perfect integrated subject have appeared from elementary school to high school. But we cannot find out desirable integration in the elementary school though the apparent goal is to integrate all kinds of social concepts into one unit. The current method of integration has some problems over advantages people initially expected by integration. It is problematic in that students learn fragmental knowledges of geography without capturing the whole geographical concept structure or obtaining their own geographical viewpoint. Therefore, we purpose to reinterpret integration of social studies and reorganize the current textbook into the right direction under the assumption that simple mixture of knowledges is far from our goal of true integration. For this purpose, we suggest a new method for social studies as an integrated subject. Instead of providing knowledges unrelated to each other into one bundle, it helps students to see the real world in his own knowledge framework equipped with geographical viewpoint. The text we claim will show students that geography consists of three key concepts: physical environment, man and environment, and spatial structure. With this text, they will have an easy access to the relationships between key concepts and details, and between geographical concepts and similar concepts from other disciplines. The proposal contributes to both upcoming textbook development and classroom teaching by eliminating problems in the current social studies teaching.

A Case Study on Student's Perspective on Java Applets in Web-based Online Courseware (자바 애플릿(Java Applets)의 교육적 활용에 대한 학습자의 인식 및 태도 : 웹기반수업 사례연구)

  • The purpose of this paper is to examine student's perspective on java applets used in web-based online courseware. undergraduate The subject of study was 94 undergraduates and web-based online courseware for the study was made. A suvey was conducted using a questionnaire form right after the semester was over. The results of this study were as follows; 1. 61.7% of the students answered that java applets used in the web-based courseware was very interesting. 2. For the reason why the students had the feeling of liking on the java applets, 33% of the students checked the item "due to the java applets' characteristics of repetition", and 30.9% of the students checked the item "due to the concrete and dynamic explanation on the contents". 3. The majority of the students answered that the java applets helped their learning(71.3%), induced their academic motivation(67%), and felt interactivity while learning(73.4%). 4. 81.9% of the students felt that java applets was necessary and essential contents in the industrial education web-based online courseware.

  • The aim of this paper is to establish the theoretical foundation on "the integrative study of the character education for the promotion of social and emotional competencies of children.". Based on the social and emotional learning(SEL), this paper is tried to find out the effective ways to develop children's good character. According to SEL, social and emotional competence is the ability to understand, manage, and express the social and emotional aspects of one's life in ways that enable the successful management of life tasks such as learning, forming relationships, solving everyday problems, and adapting to the complex demands of growth and development. And it is also the process of acquiring and effectively applying the knowledge, attitudes, and skills necessary to recognize and manage emotions. Five key competencies such as self-awareness, social awareness, responsible decision making, self-management, relationship skills are taught, practiced, and reinforced through SEL programming. Both the social and emotional learning movement and the character education share in common the idea that much of human character can be modified for the better through learning. While character educators engage in developing civic virtue and moral character in our youth for more compassionate and responsible society, SEL educators engage in educating for a safe, secure, caring society. To effectively teach social and emotional competencies, the teachers themselves must embrace a teaching and learning philosophy that models the attitudes, feelings, and behaviors we aim to teach.

The Planning of Elementary Multicultural Education Programs to Enhance Self-esteem (자아존중감 증진을 위한 초등 다문화교육 프로그램 구안)

  • This study aims to planned Elementary Multicultural Education Program for Promoting Self Esteem. To this end, consider the application force of education and teaching system designed to reorganize the ADDIE Model study was carried out in accordance with the analysis, design, development, process evaluation. To this end, analyzing the between self-esteem and group theory related to them and the social identity theory and key concepts to consider in the context of multicultural education programs for elementary self-esteem enhancement identity, prejudice, cooperation and was composed of equality. Four key concepts are sub-elements of self-esteem individuals, homes, schools, set up a detailed learning objectives in accordance with the social and selecting the learning content and organization, which was composed of a total of 16 class periods. Considering the characteristics and interests of the target students, the teaching-learning method was designed to utilize various methods, including games, quizzes, and discussions, and each class was designed to be developed by organizing them into subjects-learning goals-activities(recognition-exploration-clearing). Since in the three-member expert review, modify the content on the basis of opinions and presented the final program. The program planned by this study, further research is required to verify the effectiveness and utilization in the educational field and expects effective multicultural education.
