  • This study was conducted in order to analyze the theories behind external protective factors. In particular, it sought to understand the influence of adolescent resilience on learning motivation. Students of a public high school located in Gyeonggi Province participated in various questionnaires during the week of March 5th, 2013. Frequency analysis, one-way ANOVA (analysis of variance), correlation analysis, and multiple regression analysis were utilized to analyze the acquired data. The results revealed that when family relationships were strong and local community expectations were high, the students' 'attention to implementation processes,' one aspect of intrinsic motivation to learn, was also high. 'Suitable levels of adventurousness and risk-taking,' another aspect of intrinsic motivation to learn, was high when school expectations were also high and when relationships at the school level were weaker. The study results verified that the theory that intrinsic motivation to learn can be enhanced by strengthening external factors to protect adolescent resilience. This study is significant in that it establishes theoretical grounds to address adolescent issues, to develop programs to prevent school dropouts, and to apply the results to future legislative policies.

  • This study attempts to analyze the mechanism of the academic engagement of middle schoolers participating in family education in Technology and Home Economics Education (T&HEE), their resilience, and their parent-child relationships. The purpose of this study is to examine the mediating effect of resilience on the association between academic engagement and the parent-child relationship. The participants of the study were 194 middle schoolers in Sejong-si. The data were analyzed using PROCESS macro (Model 4), a method for verifying the mediating effect using bootstrapping. As a result of the study, first, there are significant positive correlations among academic engagement, resilience, and the parent-child relationship. Second, the result shows resilience as a complete mediating effect on the association between academic engagement and the parent-child relationship. These findings suggest the way to improve the relationship of adolescents with their parents is to enhance the middle school learners' resilience by actively participating in family education classes in T&HEE.

  • In recent university classes, consistent effort to improve co-operative interaction and communication between student and professor utilizing SNS(Social Network Service) is being made. This research conducted survey study with 137 pre-teachers in Daejeon & Chungnam area in order to find the relationship between pre-teachers' ego resilience, level of social support and awareness of the instructional outcome in classes that incorporate SNS. According to the result, it has been found that male's class satisfaction is higher than female's class satisfaction, while significant correlations have been found between ego resilience-social support, social support-class satisfaction, social support-semester satisfaction, and class satisfaction-semester satisfaction. Also, ego resilience and social support have significant effect on awareness of the instructional outcome. From these results, a rather close attention towards students' characteristics and their adaptation in class is needed in order to successfully carry out classes that incorporate various new media.

  • Software subjects such as programming practice and physical computing may have differences between men and women, and there may be individual differences in resilience due to errors and debugging. Therefore, in this study, we analyze gender differences in computational thinking classes by using a resilience testing tool. The results of this study showed that the two groups were homogeneous, and the male group did not show significant changes in resilience, but the female group showed significant increases in resilience. This study confirmed the possibility of reducing the gender gap of learners by allowing a group of female students who did not show strength in traditional software education to become more motivated and interested in the information and communication field through appropriate learning content and learning strategies in computational thinking classes.
