  • This study is aimed to find correlation between benefits of pursuing clothes and the attitude towards wearing school uniform, as well as the effects that wearing attitude has on the satisfaction. This research is carried out by investigating and researching into middle and high school students around capital regions in the hopes of enhancing their satisfaction to their uniforms and their desire for self-expression, resulting in a positive notion to uniforms being settled in among the students. In the regards of benefits of pursuing clothes, female students are highly pursuing individual characteristics, aesthetics, and economy all depending on the demographic factors. It is notable that students in Seoul are pursuing those elements more strongly than those in Gyeonggi-do. As for the attitude towards wearing school uniforms, the safety weighs a lot among female students. Meanwhile, those in Gyeonggi-do were more inclined to economy as they prefer wearing uniform more often than not. Students who are pursuing individual characteristics and aesthetics are less likely to pursue economy, whereas those who are pursuing practicality are pursuing better economy. Those in favor of economy, meanwhile, are pursuing aesthetics, safety, as well as economy. When it comes to the attitude towards wearing school uniforms, the result showed that it is more likely for those who are considering aesthetics, safety, and economy to be satisfied with the aesthetics, practicality, and the convenience aspects of school uniforms.

  • Schools should be a safe and comfortable environment for learning and studying. However, school facilities are usually used by many students during restricted time. These conditions such as many people, restricted time and space mold a chain of school accidents. In Korea, the school accidents are increasing annually and many students experience 'big or small incidents' and are exposed to 'potential accidents'. In this study, I investigated the present situation of the elementary schools' accidents in In-Cheon area, and analyzed the various characteristics of them. The accidents in elementary school have tendencies of occuring frequently in higher grade and boy students relatively. As analyzed in the place of accident, classrooms have a set of factors of accident, on the other hand, corridor and staircase show single distinct cause of safety problem. And also, the major portion of accidents is associated with the door in restroom and entrance space. In order to reduce the severity and frequency of school accidents, there should be needed multilateral and interdisciplinary approach. To achieve the safe school environments, this study focused on establishing a foundation of practical directions in designing elementary schools.

  • Backgrounds: The objective of school zones was to define protective areas and to keep children vulnerable to traffic accidents from the risk. The current "Rules on the Designation and Management of School Zones" included provisions on the installation of traffic safety facilities and road facilities, but they were not sufficient for children's traffic safety and there were many difficulties in applying standards to the fields. Purposes: With these problems to be solved, the present study surveyed the current state of safety facilities in school footpaths and school zones around elementary schools and suggested plans to improve them. This study studied various factors like the physical environment and the safety facilities in the school zone. Methods: The present researcher visited four elementary schools selected for this study, and surveyed safety facilities in the school zones around the elementary schools using a schedule prepared by the researcher. Results: According to the results of the case study, all of the four schools were designated as school zones, but the designation appeared nominal without sufficient safety facilities that can ensure children's safety. Based on the results of the survey, suggestions were made to improve traffic facilities in school zones and school footpaths as well as safety guidance.

  • Background: The study investigated the causes of safety accidents by facility, focused on safety accidents caused directly or indirectly by school facilities at elementary schools in S City. Purpose: The objective of this study is to provide materials for planning the construction of school buildings and the installation of school facilities and for improving existing facilities and ultimately to minimize mental and Physical losses from safety accidents caused by school facilities and to create pleasant education environment. Method: We selected 10 elementary schools in S City, analyzed the factors of safety accidents caused by facilities inside and outside the schools, and presented the results of the analysis including the factors of safety accidents caused by elementary school facilities. Result: It was found that safety accidents caused by elementary school facilities can be prevented to some degree by considering safety accidents in facility planning. As the safety accident rate is higher at elementary schools than at middle and high schools, it is essential to consider safety accidents in planning the construction of an elementary school and to execute safety accident prevention education in order to reduce safety accidents at elementary schools. In addition, as the curriculums are revised and new facilities are introduced for the new curriculums, elementary students' physical, psychological and environmental factors should be analyzed and studied closely and the results should be reflected in establishing the standards for the installation of elementary school facilities.
