A study on the Information for the Schedule Management of the Construction based BIM (BIM기반 건설공사 일정관리를 위한 정보에 관한 연구)

  • Since the size of the construction project has become massive, complicated and specialized, the use for a substantial amount of information provided from diverse participants is considered important. Schedule information obtained from a variety of sources is key during the construction project. Misunderstanding of schedule management information causes delay of construction period and low quality of construction. Currently, interest in BIM (Building Information Modeling) that produces the necessary data for the entire life cycle of the building process is rising. The study is to construct the BIM-base-information system in order to systematically manage schedule information of the construction work. For this purpose, the study established a BIM-base-schedule-management-business process and drew a classification system for the work for schedule-information construction. The study also drew information that can be extracted from the BIM model among properties required to build certain information. The schedule is made upon consideration of information needed for schedule management, and information required to schedule a timeline of the construction project by process is established.

A Method for Establishment of Case-based Software Maintenance Maturity Model (사례기반의 소프트웨어 유지보수 성숙도 모델 수립 방안)

  • Software Maintenance needs to continually improve from corrective maintenance to operational management and service improvement. In this study, we propose a software maintenance maturity model and its evaluation criteria based on 4 maintenance projects of K organization. For the proposal, we derive 13 process areas and 64 evaluation criteria based on some references such as SMMM, ITSMM, ITIL. We evaluate the criteria using 5-point scale, and then establish the maturity model of K organization classified by levels of the maturity model based on the evaluation result. And, to verify and improve the maturity model of K organization, we propose improvements for evaluation criteria. In addition, we apply the maturity model to the 4 projects, evaluate the projects, and propose improvements for the projects based on the evaluation result to identify how the model shows software maintenance improvement.

A Study on Climate Characteristics of Waterfront in Busan Area (부산지역 워터프런트의 기후특성에 관한 연구)

  • The waterfront has distinct climate characteristics different from urban or inland area. These may create not only the rise of energy and maintenance costs for facilities located at waterfront areas, but also the negative effects on the climate of the nearby inland area, unless these are treated with particular care. For the present study, the climate characteristics of waterfront were examined with climate data of 10 observation points carefully selected in Busan area. Each weather observation point was classified into either waterfront area of inland area, based on the distance from the coastal line. Special considerations were given to the climate data gathered at the Dae-Yeon weather station because it shows the climate characteristics similar to those of inland area, although it is located very near the waterfront area. Results indicates that this peculiar climate condition attributes, at least in part, to the reclamation of frontal coastal area.

Humidity Change Rate Analysis for Various Waterproofing Method in Underground Structures During Winter Season (지하 구조물 동절기 온도조건에서의 방수공법별 습도 변화량 분석)

  • This paper proposes the appropriate waterproofing methods for underground structures after applying different types of waterproofing materials on the concrete test specimens and selecting the best results out of humidity testing in winter conditions. Results of the testing showed that the underground structures absolutely require relevant waterproofing application based on the environmental conditions; when applied with interior waterproofing, the results showed that the concrete maintained high level of humidity and reinforcing steel within the concrete layer corroded. However, when applied with exterior waterproofing, it was shown that the waterproofing layer prevent direct contact with water and concrete, thereby protecting the concrete structure and improving overall durability. It follows that during underground structure construction, exterior waterproofing methods are have shown by an effective method for improving the durability as well as providing a comfortable interior environment for users.

Development of a Web-based A/S Management System in Apartment Housing Projects (웹 기반의 공동주택 AS관리 시스템 개발)

  • Recently, After Service(AS) management in apartment housing projects has been appeared as one of the major factors for improving customer satisfaction, and increasing competitiveness and raising image of a company in construction industry. The primary objective of this paper is to propose a web-based AS management system which enables field engineers to effectively collect AS information required from customers and effectively manage the statuses and results of AS performed. It is anticipated that the effective use of the system proposed in this paper would be able to improve communication efficiency among the AS participants, and help field engineers systematically manage and accumulate data that might be utilized as a reference in future construction projects.

Classification and Analysis of Characteristics of Changes in Apartment Landscape Work (아파트조경공사 설계변경의 유형분류와 특성분석)

  • In the wake of categorizing the design changes occurred during the period from 2004 till the first half of 2006 in Choongcheong province area, based on purpose and reason of design changes identified by the Korea National Housing Corp, it included 11 types such as the image of the apartment complex, scenic elements, consideration by the user, prevention of the defect, constructability, site conditions, incompatibility between the activities, superordinate standard, prevention of civic complaints, design details and others, along with 47 subordinate elements. And the evaluation intended to identify the corelation between the number and time of design change approval, frequency and scale of design change by type and the cost variations indicated that; firstly, enhancing the image of the apartment complex proved to be the main reason for design changes, accounting for 22% in terms of frequency and 54.9% in terms of cost variation. Secondly, the higher the increase in cost by design change aimed at improving the image of the complex, the lower the decrease in cost by design change for uncertain reasons, dubbed the inverse proportional relations, indicating that the design changes for uncertain reasons were mostly aimed at reducing the construction cost. Thirdly, with regard to the number of design change approval and the time of the initial approval, twice or less and 90 days or less before completion of the construction work, respectively, accounted for $52{\sim}53%$, indicating the design change deliberation and approval tended to have been carried out collectively in the form of ex post facto approval, which seemed to be attributable to the attempt of reducing the construction cost or budget problem, as a result of comparing with the cases in which the cost was reduced.

The Disputes of FTA Preferential Duty Treatment : The Implications of the U.S Customs Case Laws (한·미FTA 특혜관세분쟁을 대비한 미국판례의 동향과 함의)

  • Papers in FTA research have mostly focused on the legal interpretation of the FTA treaties. In this research, more focus was put on the customs laws and related cases delivered in the U.S. federal courts, by which we can analyze the Korea-U.S. FTA in more practical manner to derive the enterprises' solutions to cope with the disputes of FTA preferential duty. The Tariff Act of 1930 is the U.S. customs law to govern FTA preferential duties. The administrative practices with customs duties are coordinated with the FTA rules. The most controversial issue in the U.S. customs law lies in the classification of imported goods for imposition of the customs duties, based on Harmonized Tariff Schedule of the United States. It was found that the U.S. federal courts had been quite favorable to the CBP(U.S. Customs and Border Protections) in litigation with the private importers and exporters. The reason seems to be that the CBP has been dealing with the customs cases so many times, accumulating much experience in execution of the U.S. customs laws, which is likely to make their decisions on customs duties almost free of errors. Therefore, the Korean exporters need to collect the CBP's past cases on the denial of preferential treatment on imported goods and be fully informed of the CBP's policies on the FTA preferential duty treatment.

A Study on the Construction Specification and Quality Assurance Criteria in Clay Paver (점토바닥벽돌의 품질 및 시공기준 연구)

  • As the customer's interest for sidewalk block in the street or apartment complex is increasing, the materials of block which had been a concrete block exclusively are varied to clay paver, native rock and wood etc. Especially, the sales volume of clay paver which is environment-friendly and ergonomic is dramatically increasing every year with two digits growth rate, however, many problems like "Edge Cracking" "Freezing Breakage" "Bending Breakage" "Joint Gap" are happening frequently within a couple of hours after installation due to the durabilities. Because of the characteristics of Ceramic products, clay pavers are very easy to be broken when they are bumped against each other. In addition, they are relatively fragile by a freezing expansion breakage when exposed to water due to hydrophilic property as well as the intensity and absorptance of the products are varied with small difference from the production process such as production equipment and process control. Therefore, it costs a lot of money to repair the breakdown unless production and installation is carried out according to the strict criteria of the quality control. In this study, the symptoms of breakdown frequently happened in clay paver are classified by each type and finally the solution for this problem in the production of brick, installation and criteria of quality control through compressive strength and absorptance test is suggested.

A Study on Kitchen Knives Used in the Homicide Crimes (최근 살인 사건의 살해도구에 관한 연구 - 칼을 중심으로 -)

  • I searched the recent murder cases for other criminal methods of homicides the monthly statistics of the local police agencies of the whole country, I found that there are many criminal cases where knives were used. Based on this finding, I decided to conduct my survey about kitchen knives. The statistics indicated more than five hundread male and female adults were reported to have committed murders. Of the 500 people, 21 used a kitchen knife to commit murder. This study showed that when people have a conflict, the kitchen knife is as a tool that can be easily changed into a weapon. If the points of the knife is round, more homicides could be avoided. If regulations were established, as we have with dagger when producing, selling or purchasing, I would assume that the number of the crimes with knives will be remarkably diminished. It is our responsibility to create a bill concerning regulatory standards in understanding the dangers of kitchen knives. We must immediately participate in active publicity campaigns.

  • The architectural drawing, construction project specification, etc. are included in the contract of a documents. However, construction project specification, for being documentation, is not utilized to such an extent. The reason is that specification information is difficult in collecting information in relation to the architectural drawing, material finishing list and other architectural information. Therefore, an integrated model, which can be associated with other architectural information, is needed, and a DB based on this integrated model must be established in order for it to be utilized in design, construction, and management. The DB, which is established through this process, must be updated according to modification in design, and construction. Furthermore the specification must be in document on the web for reference. Consequently in this research, the structure of integrated model has been introduced, and it has made the search and preparation of the integrated model on the Internet, using the specification information DB established for the mutual reference of DB, possible. The improvements of construction project specification standards are expected by this system. Also, it will bring about Improvements upon claim prevention, and design, construction, management qualities. Furthermore, it will make the use of information more convenient in practical business such as order agency, design service and building site.
