  • With recent spotlight on the, uniquitous computing technology, the need for object of indentification and location infrastructure has increased. Such GPS technolgy must utilize IEEE 802.15.4 Zigbee used for existing wireless sensor network infra as a basice element for user's context-awareness in a uniquitous environement, for effectiveness.Such real-time GPS service is provided in the internal environment where the user would actually are and most high-rise buildlings apply. Underthe assumption, the real-time GPS technology is seperated by each floor, and signals do not get transmitted to other floors, the application on one floor within the high-rise buildling was conducted. This study intends to suggest a floor detection algorithm using IEE 802.15.3/Zigbee's RSSI which supports the accuracy within a couple of meters for the user's the movement between the floors in high-rise buildings in a complex environment. It proposes an floor detection algorithm using IEEE 802.15.4/Zigbee's RSSI which provides accuracy within a radius of few meters for the users movement between the floors for real-time location tracking within high-rise building in a cmoplex environment. Furthermore, for more accurate real-time location tracking, it suggests an algorithm for real-time location tracking using IEEE 802.15.4a/Zigbee's CSS technology based on triangulation. Based on the suggested algorithm, it designs a hybrid real-time location tracking service system in a high-rise buildling and test its functions.

  • Compared to terrestrial RF communications, underwater acoustic communications have several limitations such as limited bandwidth, high level of fading effects, and a large underwater propagation delay. In this paper, in order to tackle those limitations of underwater communications and to make it possible to form a large underwater monitoring systems, we propose a hierarchical underwater network architecture, which consists of underwater sensors, clusterheads, underwater/surface sink nodes, autonomous underwater vehicles (AUVs). In the proposed architecture, for the maximization of packet delivery ratio and the minimization of underwater sensor's energy consumption, a hybrid routing protocol is used. More specifically, cluster members use Tree based routing to transmit sensing data to clusterheads. AUVs on optimal trajectory movements collect the aggregated data from clusterhead and finally forward the data to the sink node. Also, in order to minimize the maximum travel distance of AUVs, an Integer Linear Programming based algorithm is employed. Performance analysis through simulations shows that the proposed architecture can achieve a higher data delivery ratio and lower energy consumption than existing routing schemes such as gradient based routing and geographical forwarding. • In future mobile networks, hybrid/integrated satellite and terrestrial systems will play an important role. Most of the mobile communication systems are focused on the terrestrial systems, in this case, compatibilities between the satellite and terrestrial systems are very important for efficiency of the systems. Terrestrial systems of all the 4G mobile communication adopted the adaptive modulation and coding (AMC) schemes for efficient usage of resources, and the updating interval of resource allocation in an order of msec. However, because of the long round trip delay of satellite systems, we cannot employ the same AMC scheme specified for the terrestrial system, and thus it cannot effectively counteract to short term fadings. In the paper, we propose the method to apply AMC to mobile satellite systems. In addition, in order to effectively counteract to short term fadings, we present the simulation results of the AMC combined with an interleaver.

  • There is a rapid increase in the use of digital video information in recent years. Especially, user requires the environment which retrieves video from passive access to active access, to be more efficiently. we need to implement video retrieval system including video parsing, clustering, and browsing to satisfy user's requirement. In this paper, we first divide video sequence to shots which are primary unit for automatic indexing, using a hybrid method with mixing histogram method and pixel-based method. After the shot boundaries are detected, corresponding key frames can be extracted. Key frames are very important portion because they help to understand overall contents of video. In this paper, we first analyze camera operation in video and then select different number of key frames depend on shot complexity. At last, we compose panorama images from shots which are containing panning or tilting in order to provide more useful and understandable browsing environment to users.

  • This study introduces a hybrid approach combining numerical results with pre-developed analytical calculations for the sound radiation from the modal vibration of a thick, finite length cylinder with various boundary conditions. Structural vibrations of the cylinder are numerically investigated with the finite element method, and distributions of vibratory displacements on the cylinder surface are idealized as simple mathematical expressions based on the numerical results. Sound radiations from the normal vibration of the cylinder are calculated based on idealized modal displacements using a previously introduced theoretical solution. The results are confirmed with numerical analyses using the boundary element method. Based on these results, it can be concluded that the solutions suggested in this study have good accuracies in calculating the vibro-acoustic properties of a thick, finite cylinder with various boundary conditions. Also, the sound radiation characteristics of many practical components such as brake drums and motor housings are expected to be investigated using the procedure proposed in this study.

  • In this paper, a Modified Fuzzy C-Means algorithm with Gaussian Weights(MFCM_GW) is presented for nonlinear blind channel equalization. The proposed algorithm searches the optimal channel output states of a nonlinear channel from the received symbols, based on the Bayesian likelihood fitness function and Gaussian weighted partition matrix instead of a conventional Euclidean distance measure. Next, the desired channel states of a nonlinear channel are constructed with the elements of estimated channel output states, and placed at the center of a Radial Basis Function(RBF) equalizer to reconstruct transmitted symbols. In the simulations, binary signals are generated at random with Gaussian noise. The performance of the proposed method is compared with those of a simplex genetic algorithm(GA), a hybrid genetic algorithm(GA merged with simulated annealing(SA): GASA), and a previously developed version of MFCM. It is shown that a relatively high accuracy and fast search speed has been achieved.

  • In the real world, the user's preference for a particular product is determined by many factors besides the quality of the product. The reflection of these external factors was very difficult because of various fundamental problems including lack of data. However, access to external factors has become easier as the infrastructure for public data is opened and the availability of evaluation platforms with diverse and vast amounts of data. In accordance with these changes, this paper proposes a recommendation system structure that can reflect the collectable factors that affect user's preference, and we try to observe the influence of actual influencing factors on preference by applying case. The structure of the proposed system can be divided into a process of selecting and extracting influencing factors, a process of supplementing insufficient data using sentence analysis, and finally a process of combining and merging user's evaluation data and influencing factors. We also propose a validation process that can determine the appropriateness of the setting of the structural variables such as the selection of the influence factors through comparison between the result group of the proposed system and the actual user preference group.

  • In the field of information security, IDS(Intrusion Detection System) is normally classified in two different categories: signature-based IDS and anomaly-based IDS. Many studies in anomaly-based IDS have been conducted that analyze network traffic data generated in cyberspace by machine learning algorithms. In this paper, we studied pre-processing methods to overcome performance degradation problems cashed by rare classes. We experimented classification performance of a Machine Learning algorithm by reconstructing data set based on rare classes and semi rare classes. After reconstructing data into three different sets, wrapper and filter feature selection methods are applied continuously. Each data set is regularized by a quantile scaler. Depp neural network model is used for learning and validation. The evaluation results are compared by true positive values and false negative values. We acquired improved classification performances on all of three data sets.

  • A cold chain logistics (CCL) model for chilled food (-1℃ to 8℃) distributed in China was developed in this study. The CCL model consists of a distribution center (DC) and distribution target points (DT). The objective function of the CCL model is to minimize the total distribution routes of all distributors. To find the optimal result of the objective function, the hybrid genetic algorithm (HGA) approach is proposed. The HGA approach was constructed by combining the improved K-means and genetic algorithm (GA) approaches. In the case study, three scenarios were considered for the CCL model based on the distribution routes and the available distance, and they were solved using the proposed HGA approach. Analysis results showed that the distribution costs and mileage were reduced by approximately 19%, 20% and 16% when the proposed HGA approach was used.

  • In this paper, we propose a pet monitoring system based on deep learning using an activity recognition device. The system consists of a pet's activity recognition device, a pet owner's smart device, and a server. Accelerometer and gyroscope data were collected from an Arduino-based activity recognition device, and the number of steps was calculated. The collected data is pre-processed and the amount of activity is measured by recognizing the activity in five types (sitting, standing, lying, walking, running) through a deep learning model that hybridizes CNN and LSTM. Finally, monitoring of changes in the activity, such as daily and weekly briefing charts, is provided on the pet owner's smart device. As a result of the performance evaluation, it was confirmed that specific activity recognition and activity measurement of pets were possible. Abnormal behavior detection of pets and expansion of health care services can be expected through data accumulation in the future.
