Low temperature synthesis of ZnO nanopowders by the polymerized complex method (착체중합법을 이용한 ZnO 나노분말의 저온합성)

  • Nano-sized ZnO particles were successfully synthesized at low temperatures by a polymerized complex method via an organochemical route. The polymeric precursors could be prepared using Zn nitrate hexahydrate and a mixed solution of citric acid and ethylene glycol as a chelating agent and a reaction medium. The polymeric precursors were calcined at temperatures from 300 to $700^{\circ}C$ for 3 h, and evaluated for degree of crystallization process, thermal decomposition, surface morphology and crystallite size. The thermal decomposition and crystallization process were analyzed by TG-DTA, FI-IR and XRD. The morphology and crystallite size of the calcined particles were evaluated by scanning electron microscopy (SEM), transmittance electron microscopy (TEM) and Scherrer's equation. Crystallization of the ZnO particles was detected at $300^{\circ}C$ and entirely completed above $400^{\circ}C$. Particles calcined between 400 and $700^{\circ}C$ showed a uniform size distribution with a round shape. The average particle sizes calcined at $400^{\circ}C$ for 3 hour were 30~40nm showing an ordinary tendency to increase with the temperatures.

  • 압전 세라믹은 공정 조건에 따라 압전 및 전기적 특성이 큰 영향을 받는다. 최적의 조건을 갖는 압전변압기를 제조하기 위해서는 이런 공정의 변수들의 변화를 관찰할 필요성이 있다. 본 논문에서는 이런 압전 특성을 관찰하고자, 하소의 온도를 $850^{\circ}C$에서 $900^{\circ}C$도까지 시간변화에 따라 phase 변화를 XRD로 관찰하고 burn out의 온도에 따른 기공변화 및 소결의 온도변화에 따른 임피던스 어낼라이저로 주파수 특성을 관찰하였다. 이렇게 조사해본 결과 하소를 $900^{\circ}C$에서 3시간 burn out을 $500^{\circ}C$에서 2시간, 소결을 $1250^{\circ}C$에서 2 시간 한 경우가 $Q_m>1000$, $k_p>0.40$ 값을 얻을 수 있었다.

Fabrication and Electrical Properties of High Tc $A_{2}B_{2}O_{7}$ Piezoelectric Ceramics Using the Powders Prepared by the Molten Salt Synthesis Method (용융염합성법에 의한 $A_{2}B_{2}O_{7}$ 고온압전세라믹스의 제작과 전기적특성)

  • Polycrystalline $Sr_{2}(Ta_{1-x}Nbx)_{2}O_{7}$ and $La_{2}Ti_{2}O_{7}$ ceramics having very high Curie temperatures were synthesized by the conventional oxide mixing method (CON) and the molten salt synthesis method (MSS). Physical characteristics and phase relationship of calcined powders, as well as the sintering behavior, the grain-orientation and dielectric properties of sintered ceramics were investigated as a function of composition and firing temperature. The single $A_{2}B_{2}O_{7}$ phase was synthesized by using the MSS method at 100 - $150^{\circ}C$ lower temperature compared to the CON method. As Nb content increased in $Sr_{2}(Ta_{1-x}Nbx)_{2}O_{7}$ ceramics, the Curie temperature and the dielectric constant at Curie temperature were raised, and the sintering behavior and the degree of grain-orientation were also improved at the same time. The use of MSS-derived powders made it possible to lower the sintering temperature and to improve the dielectric properties of the sintering samples. However, the piezoelectric properties as well as the grain-orientation were not improved any further by the MSS route.

  • Synthesis of Z-type hexaferrite Ba3Co2Fe24O41 (Ba3Z) and Ba1.5La1.5Co2Fe24O41 (Ba1.5La1.5Z) powders were tried using molten salt synthesis after primary calcination. Ba3Z calcined at 1000℃ was formed with both M-type and Y-type hexaferrite, and then Z-type was obtained when sintered with molten salt at 1150℃ and 1200℃. In the case of Ba1.5La1.5Z calcined at 1000℃, however, M-type hexaferrite, CoFe2O4 (Spinel phase), and LaFeO3 were synthesized. As a result, Z-type hexaferrite was not synthesized after sintering with molten salt. In addition, the aspect ratio of the particles decreased as the sintering temperature increased with molten salt synthesis. To obtain a single-phase Ba1.5La1.5Z with a high aspect ratio, it is expected the raw materials have to calcine below the temperature of a spinel phase formation before sintering with molten salt.

Effect of Mn doping on the dielectric properties of $(Pb_{0.62}Ca_{0.38})ZrO_{3}$ at microwave frequency (고주파 유전체 $(Pb_{0.62}Ca_{0.38})ZrO_{3}$의 Mn 첨가에 따른 유전특성 변화)

  • Dielectric properties were investigated at Mn doped $(Pb_{1-x}Ca_{x})ZrO_{3}$ with x=0.38 in microwavefrequencies. Both the density and Q values of sintered ceramics increased with increasing calciningtemperature. In the sample sintered at $1300^{\circ}C$ for 2 hrs, the deped Mn ions completely solubled in $(Pb,Ca)ZrO_{3}$ phase until 0.5wt% and the grain size was independent of doping amount. It was observed thathigh dielectric constant of 90 - 100 and high quality factor of 1300 at 4 GHz for O.l5wt% Mn doped$(Pb_{0.62}Ca_{0.38})ZrO_{3}$. The Mn" and Mn" worked as acceptors in $(Pb,Ca)ZrO_{3}$ which created the oxygen vacancies and affected the increment of the Q values. However, the excess Mn doping more than 0.5wt% resulted in decreasing Q values.decreasing Q values.

삼중수소 증식 재료 및 중성자 반사 재료의 연구개발

  • 한국형 헬륨 냉각 고체형 증식(Helium Cooled Solid Breeder : HCSB) 시험 블랑켓(Test Blanket Module : TBM)은 삼중수소 증식을 위해서 $Li_2TiO_3$$Li_4SiO_4$ 페블을 고려하고 있으며, 중성자 반사 재료로는 SiC가 코팅된 흑연 페블을 사용할 예정이다. $Li_2TiO_3$$Li_4SiO_4$ 페블을 제조하기 위해서는 먼저 각각의 분말 제조가 선행되어야 한다. $Li_2TiO_3$ 분말을 합성하기 위해서는 먼저 Lithium 금속염과 Isopropoxide를 용매 및 폴리머 캐리어로서의 두 가지 기능을 하는 에틸렌글리콜에 첨가한 후 가열하여 완전히 용해시킨 후 혼합 용액을 건조시켜 겔형의 전구체를 제조한다. 이를 하소한 후 결정화시켜 Titanate 분말을 얻는데 이때의 건조, 하소 및 결정화 온도의 조건에 따른 분말의 크기 및 특성이 각각 다르다. 즉 하소 온도가 $600^{\circ}C$ 미만이면 열분해된 폴리머로부터 잔유 탄소가 남게 되고, $700^{\circ}C$를 초과하면 결정화가 시작된다. 이렇게 얻어진 Titanate분말은 지르코니아 볼을 이용하여 약 24 시간 동안 볼 밀링 과정을 통해 입도분포가 좁은 미세한 Titanate 분말로 만들었다. $Li_2TiO_3$ 페블은 위의 과정에서 얻어진 미세분말에 바인더를 이용하여 페블화 시킨 후 $1200^{\circ}C$의 전기로에서 최종 소결한 것이다. 중성자 반사 재료인 흑연페블은 강도가 약하기 때문에 표면에 SiC를 수 ${\mu}m$ 코팅해서 사용할 예정이다. 선행실험으로 건식법을 이용하여 SiC 코팅을 실시했으며, 그 결과를 소개할 것이다.

  • ZnWO$_4$ nano-powders were successfully prepared by polymerized complex method using zinc nitrate and tungstic acid as starting materials. In order to investigate the thermal decomposition and crystallization process, the polymeric precursors were heat-treated at temperatures from 300 to 600$^{\circ}$C for 3 h, and the heat-treated powders were characterized by XRD and FTIR. The surface morphology of the heat-treated powders were observed using SEM and TEM. The crystallite size was measured by X-ray analysis. Crystallization of the ZnWO$_4$ powders were detected at 400$^{\circ}$C and entirely completed at a temperature of 600$^{\circ}$C. The particles heat-treated 400 and 500$^{\circ}$C showed primarily co-mixed morphology with spherical and silkworm-like forms, while the particles heat-treated at 600$^{\circ}$C showed more homogeneous morphology. The average crystalline size were 19.9∼24.nm showing an ordinary tendency to increase with the temperatures from 400 to 600$^{\circ}$C.

The polymeric precursors were heat-treated at temperatures from 300 to $600^{\circ}C$ for 3 h. The precursors and heat-treated powders were evaluated for crystallization process, thermal decomposition, surface morphology and crystallite size. Crystallization of the $ZnWO_4$ powders were detected at $400^{\circ}C$ and entirely completed at a temperature of $600^{\circ}C$. The particles heat-treated at $400^{\circ}C$ showed primarily co-mixed morphology with spherical and silk-worm-like forms, while the particles heat-treated at $500^{\circ}C$ showed more homogeneous morphology. The average crystalline sizes were 17.62~24.71 nm showing an ordinary tendency to increase with the temperatures from 400 to $600^{\circ}C$.

Development of PLT($PbLaTiO_{3}$) pyroelectric materials (PLT($PbLaTiO_{3}$) 초전재료 개발(II))

  • We fabricated the ceramic PLT tablet which was composed of 5, 10 and 15 mol% lanthanum concentration and thin film PLT to develope pyroelectric materials, and investigated their characteristics. Using TG/DTA, we determined calcination and sintering temperature to sinter the PLT completely and to prevent volatilization of the Pb components. The calcination and sintering temperature were $850^{\circ}C$, $1150^{\circ}C$ respectively, and there was a lot of mass loss at higher sintering temperature. By measuring temperature-dielectric constant characteristics of ceramic tablet we investigated dielectric constant characteristics depends on La concentration. The Curie point of PLT with 5, 10 and 15 mol% lanthanum concentration were $330^{\circ}C$, $269^{\circ}C$ and $210^{\circ}C$ respectively. Using PLT ceramic tablet we observed IR detection characteristics, and then deposited PLT thin film by rf magnetron sputtering. We verified that PLT thin film fabricated with completely sintered PLT target had the same structure to target by investigating lattice constant and optical transparency.
