A Study on Evaluation and Screening Methods of Research Proposals for National Research Foundation of Korea Grants (국가연구개발사업 연구과제 선정방식 개선에 관한 연구 : 한국연구재단 지원사업을 중심으로)

  • To enhance the efficiency of national R&D programs, it is the most important thing to establish the optimized evaluation system. This is because the distorted evaluation could be an obstacle to select the best suited research team and lead the desirable research result. In current evaluation process of national R&D program, it is the most frequently used method for eliminating an evaluator's biased view to exclude both the maximum and minimum scores. However, there are several limitations in this stereotype method. Therefore, this study analyzes some real cases to derive the problems from the stereotype method and then recommends the complementary alternatives which can enhance the reliability of the evaluation system for national R&D programs. The results acquired from this study seem to be helpful to increase the agreement of the applicants on the evaluation results and ultimately to maximize the efficiency of national R&D program. In addition, they can be applied to various field with respect to the methodology for ranking decision.

Atypical Ductal Hyperplasia: Risk Factors for Predicting Pathologic Upgrade on Excisional Biopsy (침생검 조직검사에서 진단된 비정형 관상피증식증: 수술적 절제 생검에서 악성으로 진단될 가능성을 예측할 수 있는 위험인자들)

  • Purpose To determine the incidence of atypical ductal hyperplasia (ADH) in needle biopsy and the upgrade rate to carcinoma, and to evaluate difference in findings between the upgrade and non-upgrade groups. Materials and Methods Among 9660 needle biopsies performed over 48 months, we reviewed the radiologic and histopathologic findings of ADH and compared the differences in imaging findings (mammography and breast US) and biopsy methods between the upgrade and non-upgrade groups. Results The incidence of ADH was 1.7% (169/9660). Of 112 resected cases and 30 cases followed-up for over 2 years, 35 were upgraded to carcinoma (24.6%, 35/142). The upgrade rates were significantly different according to biopsy methods: US-guided core needle biopsy (USCNB) (40.7%, 22/54) vs. stereotactic-vacuum-assisted biopsy (S-VAB) (16.0%, 12/75) vs. USguided VAB (US-VAB) (7.7%, 1/13) (p = 0.002). Multivariable analysis showed that only US-CNB (odds ratio = 5.19, 95% confidence interval: 2.16-13.95, p < 0.001) was an independent predictor for pathologic upgrade. There was no upgrade when a sonographic mass was biopsied by US-VAB (n = 7) Conclusion The incidence of ADH was relatively low (1.7%) and the upgrade rate was 24.6%. Surgical excision should be considered because of the considerable upgrade rate, except in the case of US-VAB.

Non-Contact Ultrasonic Testing of Aircraft Joints using Laser Generated Lamb Wave (레이저 여기 램파를 이용한 항공기 판재 접합부의 비접촉식 초음파 검사)

  • Due to aging, adhesively bonded and riveted aircraft lap joints can contain distends, cracks around rivet holes, fatigue induced flaws, and corrosion. It is required for the safety of aircraft to inspect these defects through the whole region of mint in rapid speed. Bond quality or adhesively bonded and riveted aluminum lap splice joints is investigated using non-contact remote ultrasonic nondestructive evaluation (NDE). Non-contact ultrasonic tests are performed using laser generation and air-coupled transducer detection. A Q-switched Nd:YAG laser and a periodic transmission mask are used to generate a selected Lamb mode. The Lamb wave is generated on one side of the lap splice joint, propagates along the plate, interacts with the joint and is detected on the other side by a micromachined air-coupled capacitance transducer. Analysis of recorded signals allows to evaluate the condition of the bond.

Joining properties and thermal cycling reliability of the Si die-attached joint with Zn-Sn-based high-temperature lead-free solders (Zn-Sn계 고온용 무연솔더를 이용한 Si다이접합부의 접합특성 및 열피로특성)

  • 전자부품의 내부접속 및 파워반도체의 다이본딩과 같은 1차실장에는 고온환경에서의 사용과 2차실장에서의 재용융방지를 위해 높은 액상선온도 및 고상선온도를 필요로 하여, Pb-5wt%Sn, Pb-2.5wt%Ag로 대표되는 납성분 85%이상의 고온솔더가 널리 사용되고 있다. 생태계와 인체에 대한 납의 유해성이 보고된 이래, 무연솔더에 대한 연구가 활발히 진행되어 왔으나, Sn-Ag-Cu계로 대표되는 Sn계 합금으로 대체 중인 중온용 솔더와는 달리, 고온용 솔더에 대해서는 대체합금에 대한 연구가 미흡한 실정이다. 대체재의 부재로 인해 기존의 납을 다량함유한 솔더로 1차실장이 지속됨으로서, 2차실장의 무연화에도 불구하고 전자부품 및 기기의 재활용에 큰 어려움을 겪고 있다. 지금까지 고온용 무연솔더로서는 융점에 근거해 Au-(Sn, Ge, Si)계, Bi-Ag계, Zn-(Al, Sn)계의 극히 제한된 합금계만이 보고되어 왔다. Au계 솔더는 현재 플럭스를 사용하지 않는 광학, 디스플레이 분야 등 고부가가치 공정에 사용되고 있으나, 합금가격이 매우 비싸며 가공성이 나빠 대체재료로서는 적합하지 않다. Bi-Ag계 솔더 또한 취성합금으로 와이어 및 박판으로 가공하는데 어려움이 크며, 솔더로서 중요한 특성중 하나인 전기전도도 및 열전도도가 나쁜 편이다. 이에 비해, Zn계 합금은 비교적 낮은 합금가격, 적절한 가공성과 뛰어난 인장강도, 우수한 전기전도도 및 열전도도를 지녀, 고온용솔더 대체재료의 유력한 후보로 생각된다.이전 연구에서, 필자의 연구그룹은 Zn-Sn계 합금을 고온용 무연솔더로서 제안한 바 있다. Zn-Sn계 합금은 충분히 높은 융점과 함께, 금속간화합물이 없는 미세조직, 우수한 기계적 특성, 높은 전기전도도 및 열전도도 등의 장점을 나타내었다. 본 연구에서는 기초합금특성상 고온솔더로서 다양한 장점을 지닌 Zn-30wt%Sn합금을 고온용 솔더의 대표적인 적용의 하나인 다이본딩에 적용하여, 접합부의 강도 및 미세조직, 열피로 신뢰성에 대해 분석을 함으로서 실제 공정에의 적용가능성에 대해 검토하였다. Zn-30wt%Sn을 이용해 Au/TiN(Titanium nitride) 코팅한 Si다이를 AlN-DBC(aluminum nitride-direct bonded copper)기판에 접합한 결과, 양측에 완전히 젖은 기공이 없는 양호한 다이접합부를 얻었으며, 솔더내부에는 금속간화합물을 형성하지 않았다. Si다이와의 계면에는 TiN만이 존재하였으며, Cu와의 계면에는 Cu로부터 $Cu_5Zn_8,\;CuZn_5$의 반응층을 형성하였다. 온도사이클시험을 통한 열피로특성평가에서, Zn-30wt%Sn를 이용한 다이접합부는 1500사이클 지점에서 Cu와 Cu-Zn금속간화합물의 사이에서 피로균열이 형성되며, 접합강도가 크게 감소하였다. 열피로특성 향상을 위해 Cu표면에 TiN코팅을 하여 Zn-30wt%Sn 솔더로 다이접합한 결과, Si다이와 기판 양측에 TiN만으로 구성된 계면을 형성하였으며, TEM관찰을 통해 Zn-30wt%Sn과 극히 미세한 접합계면이 형성하고 있음을 확인하였다. Zn-wt%30Sn솔더와 TiN층의 병용으로 2000사이클까지 미세조직의 변화 및 강도저하가 없는 극히 안정된 고신뢰성의 다이접합부를 얻을 수가 있었다.

Acceleration Test Method for Failure Prediction of the End Cap Contact Region of Sodium Cooled Fast Reactor Fuel Rod (소듐냉각 고속로 연료봉단의 접촉부 손상예측을 위한 가속시험 방법)

  • This paper reports the results of an acceleration test to predict the contact-induced failure that could occur at the cylinder-to-hole joint for the fuel rod of a sodium-cooled fast reactor (SFR). To incorporate the fuel life of the SFR currently under development at KAERI (around 35,000 h), the acceleration test method of reliability engineering was adopted in this work. A finite element method was used to evaluate the flow-induced vibration frequency and amplitude for the test parameter values. Five specimens were tested. The failure criterion during the life of the SFR fuel was applied. The S-N curve of the HT-9, the material of concern, was used to obtain the acceleration factor. As a result, a test time of 16.5 h was obtained for each specimen. It was concluded that the $B_{0.004}$ life would be guaranteed for the SFR fuel rods with 99% confidence if no failure was observed at any of the contact surfaces of the five specimens.

Validity and Reliability of Korean version of Professional Quality of Life Scale-Short Form(ProQOL-K-SF) for Staff of Long-term Care Insurance for Elderly (한국어판 전문직 삶의 질 측정도구-간편형(ProQOL-K-SF)의 타당도와 신뢰도: 장기요양요원을 중심으로)

  • This study was conducted to test the validity and reliability of the Korean version of the Professional Quality of Life Scale-Short Form (ProQOL-K-SF). Survey data were collected from 191 staff involved in long-term care insurance who worked for National Health Insurance Services. Construct validity using exploratory factor analysis and the internal consistency reliability were determined using SPSS/WIN (21.0). Factor analysis of the ProQOL-K-SF demonstrated that it has a two-factor structure (compassion satisfaction and compassion fatigues) and 13 items that support construct validity. Factor loadings of the compassion satisfaction ranged from 0.70-0.86, factor loading of the compassion fatigues ranged from 0.71-0.82 and the total variance was 60%. The ProQOL-K showed interanal consistency based on Cronbach's ${\alpha}$, with a total scale and two sub scale values of 0.76-0.90. Compassion fatigue and compassion satisfaction of 30 items of the ProQOL-K were positively correlated with those of 13 items of the ProQOL-K-SF. The results support that the ProQOL-K has satisfactory construct validity and is a reliable measure of professional quality of life in Korea.

  • In order to develop a high speed train, various conditions have been considered. Fatigue strength assessment by the fluctuation of pressure is an important one. When high speed train passing though tunnels, the pressure wave is generated in tunnels and pressure variation by the wave is acting on carbody structure with dynamic load repeatedly. In this study, formulation for reliability based fatigue assessment method has been performed when the high speed train passes through tunnels. The formulation was based on structural reliability index method and followed the proposed ISO method. The result by this study would be a good guidance to calculate the fatigue life and reliability index of body structure.

용접 구조 설계

  • 본 보에서는 용접 구조물의 파괴 방지를 위한 제반 용접 구조 설계에 대하여 전반적으로 기술 하였다. 현대 용접 구조물의 각 선급이나 spec.에서 규정한 식들에 의해 산정된 정적하중으로 구조 설계되는 종래의 방법과는 달리, 유한 요소 구조 해석에 의한 강도 평가, 외부하중의 직접 계산에 의한 보다 정확한 설계 하중의 설정 및 통계적 처리를 통한 합리적인 구조해석(피로강도 포함)등으로 설계되고 있다. 더우기 구조설계시 구조물의 취성파괴를 고려한 파괴강도 및 인성 개념을 도입하였을 뿐 아니라 균열의 존재와 성장을 파괴 역학적으로 해석하여 구조물의 조업 중에서의 파괴관리 및 제어도 실시할 수 있는 총합적인 설계에 의하여 용접 구조물은 제작되고 있다. 비록 구조물의 총합적인 구조 설계로 제작되었을지라도, 구조물의 사용 성능은 용접부의 특성에 의하여 크게 변하게 되므로 용접 설계의 역할을 매우 중요하다. 용접 설계란 용접시공법, 구조부재 및 용접재료의 선정, 용접 이음부의 구조적 형상과 세부 형상 및 그외 용접에 관련된 제 인자들을 상호 유기적으로 조합함으로써 보다 경제적이고 신뢰성 있는 용접부를 얻고자 함에 그 목적이 있다.

  • In modern automotive control modules, mechanical failures of surface mounted electronic components such as microprocessors, crystals, capacitors, transformers, inductors, and ball grid array packages, etc., are mai or roadblocks to design cycle time and product reliability. This paper presents a general methodology of failure analysis and fatigue prediction of these electronic components under automotive vibration environments. Mechanical performance of these packages is studied through finite element modeling approach fur given vibration environments in automotive application. Using the results of vibration simulation, fatigue lift is predicted based on cumulative damage analysis and material durability information. Detailed model of solder/lead joints is built to correlate the system level model and obtain solder strains/stresses. The primary focus in this paper is on surface-mount interconnect fatigue failures and the critical component selected for this analysis is 80 pin plastic leaded microprocessor.

On-site Output Survey and Feed Value Evaluation on Agro- industrial By-products (농산업부산물들에 대한 배출 현장 조사 및 사료적 가치 평가)

  • This study was conducted to make on-site survey on the output pattern and utilization situation of 19 by-products selected, to evaluate their nutritional characteristics, to find out a reliable index with which digestion of by-products can be predicted on the basis of chemical compositions analyzed and to diagnose the risk of using book values in the absence of the actual values analyzed for diet formulation. Production and utilization situations of by-products were quite various. Nutritionally, fruit processing by-products such as apple pomace (AP), pear pomace (PP), grape pomace (GP), and persimmon peel (PSP), and bakery by-products (BB) were classified as energy feeds. Soybean curd meal (SCM), animal by- products such as blood (BD), feather meal (FM) and poultry by-products (PB), and activated milk processing sludge (AMS) were classified as protein feeds. Soy hulls (SH), spent mushroom compost (SMC), barley malt hulls (BMH), waste paper (WP) and broiler litter (BL) were classified as roughage. Rumen contents (RC) and restaurant food waste (FW) were nutritionally analogous to complete diets for cattle and swine, respectively. Compared to soybean meal (SBM), BD and FM contained high (P<0.05) levels of amino acids and barley malt sprouts (BMS), AMS and FW contained low (P<0.05) levels of amino acids. Enzymatic (pepsin) digestibilities of proteinaceous feeds ranged between 99 and 66%. In vitro DM digestibility was high (P<0.05) in the order of FW, BB, AP, SH, PP, PSP, BMH, BMS, SCM, GP, RC, PB, BL, WP, SMC, AMS, FM and BD. In vitro DM digestibility had the highest correlation (r=0.68) with nonfibrous carbohydrate among chemical components. Differences between analyzed values of chemical components and book values were considerable. Caution is required in using book values when large amount of by-products are used in diets.
