  • Project Managers want to reduce the cost and the completion time of the project simultaneously. But the project completion time tends to increase as the project cost is reduced, and the project cost has a tendency to increase as the project completion time is reduced. In this paper, the resource constrained project scheduling problem with multiple crashable modes is considered. An exact solution method for finding the efficient solution set and the computational results are introduced.

  • The decision maker has the job of torecasting capital investments and operating expenses to aid the decision making in choosing and evaluating present and future alternatives. The estimating function eventually analysis, evaluates and choose the alternatives. The analysis stemmed originally from a preliminary design of some sort, and eventually plans are started to investigate investment possibilites. This study provide the descounted cash flow and the present worth method. Despite any choice of an analytical method, there remains the problem of predicting certain future events. Therefore, these models dealing with optimum plant sizing, equipment replacement, and lease or buy will be discussed.

  • In recent years, success of information system projects to possess competitive advantage in business has become very important for stakeholders. Stakeholders who are interested in the success of information system projects typically consist of users who need the system, developers who build it, and project managers who are responsible for project success. However, recently, there has been increasing in the number of business analysts engaged in bridging relationships among these stakeholders in information system projects. So far, there have been many researches on the competence of users, developers or project managers. But, the research on the competencies of business analysts has not been done much. So, in this study, what competencies are needed for business analysts who are engaged in information system projects are researched, and the level and difference of stakeholders' expectations and satisfaction with them are identified, using IPA techniques. The results of this study are expected to contribute greatly to providing basic information on the development of competency models or training programs needed for recruitment, evaluation and training of business analysts who are or will be engaged in information system projects.

  • Nowadays, the IS project is getting more and more complicated and large-scaled. Many researchers and practitioners are interested in the IS development methodologies, automated tools and techniques to decrease project failure and to increase IS project performance. This research is to seize the management level of PMO affecting on the IS project, as a new method to increase the IS project development performance. As a result of surveying the present PMO operation state with banks which are the leading industry to accept the PMO in Korea, technology support management and infrastructure management are the core functions to affect the IS performance including schedule management, quality management, and user and stakeholders' satisfaction. Also, the PMO management level is the important point of IS project success. Among the 5 levels PMI suggested, PMO can implement the project effectively at least at the third level. Korean companies introducing the PMO have to do research the PMO core functions and the management levels according to the project scale, and review the distinctive features of their organization to increase the maturity of IS project. This research has been proved through the Full Structural Equation Model. The results show that the five core functions of PMO have relationship with the IS project performance.

  • The successful implementation of green supply chain management(GSCM) practices requires a level of cooperation that can be difficult to conduct. Despite this challenge, limited scholarly attention has been paid to exploring how the implementation of GSCM practices can be effectively facilitated and enhanced through accumulated social capital with suppliers. Based on social capital theory, this study postulates that supplier network characteristics derived from social capital with key suppliers can be critical antecedents of GSCM, which in turn enhances the firm's environmental performance. To test hypotheses, data were collected from 330 firms in 15 countries, and structural equation modeling was employed. Results show that GSCM improves environmental performance, and structural and cognitive social capitals of the supplier network act as antecedents and lead to GSCM implementation.

  • The purpose of this research is to identify the major evaluation criteria of IT investment projects and establish the importance weights of criteria through AHP analysis. Seven evaluation criteria which have been drawn from prior studies and industry practices are direct costs, indirect costs, financial benefits, strategic value, risk, technical necessity, and political considerations. Data have been collected from 95 IT projects in 40 public organizations and private firms in Korea. After having applied the data reliability test, 79 projects have been selected. The results of AHP analysis show the importance weights and priorities of seven evaluation criteria as follows: financial benefits 25.2%, strategic value 22.36%, direct costs 14.34%, risk 12.10%, technical necessity 11.55%, political considerations 8.3%, and indirect costs 6.48%. And the weights of seven criteria shows considerable differences among three different IT project types such as transactional, informational, and infrastructural.

  • The construction industry is huge-there are lots of project organizations and many different people who work on them. Conflict will occur in any long - term relationship and it happens in personal, professional, family, and social relationships. Disputes between parties to construction projects are of great concern to the industry. The study of construction industry disputes, and the causes of those disputes, is essential. The purpose of this study is to identify the root causes of conflicts in construction industry. A questionnaire field survey was conducted to investigate the root causes of construction conflicts. The professionals working for owner, contractor and consultants were targeted for the collection of data. Descriptive analysis such as mean score and standard deviation as well as factor analysis was employed to find underlying factors related to conflicts in construction field. Student's t-test and ANOVA test tools were used to compare the perceptions of various categories of population and project. Factor analysis was used to group the numbers of conflict causes. This study reveals four root causes of construction conflict. They are: (i) weak project leadership (ii) weak contractor selection (iii) weak project management, and (iv) project participants' attitude.
