In this study, sixteen egg quality traits, including egg weight, albumen weight, yolk weight, eggshell weight, albumen weight ratio, yolk weight ratio, eggshell weight ratio, yolk color, eggshell color, egg height, egg width, shape index, albumen height, Haugh unit, eggshell thickness, and eggshell strength were investigated in 12 strains of Korean native chicken using 600 eggs from birds at 38 weeks of age. Results showed that the Korean White Leghorn F strain had the highest egg weight of 62.7 g and the lowest (47.5 g) was observed in the Korean native chicken W strain. The Haugh unit was significantly different between strains. The mean Haugh unit for Korean native chicken ranged between 84.2 (L strain) and 76.0 (F strain), with an overall average of 79.9. Eggshells were the thinnest in Korean Rhode Island Red C and D strains (0.342 mm), whereas the highest eggshell thickness (0.393 mm) was observed in the Korean White Leghorn K strain. Korean Rhode Island Red C and D strains had low egg strength compared to that of other strains. Korean Cornish and Korean native chicken showed significant differences in egg quality traits between strains within breeds. Positive correlation coefficients were observed between egg weight and egg quality traits. The traits for color showed zero or low correlations with most egg quality traits. Egg shape index showed no correlation with most egg quality traits. Albumen height and the Haugh unit showed a positive correlation with albumen traits. Eggshell strength showed a positive correlation with eggshell traits.
In order to investigate the application effects of soil amendment on wetland rice soil field and laboratory experiment were conducted on ill drained paddy field on which rice straw, Compost, Lime and Silicate materlials such as wallostonite and fused phosphate were applied. 1. As compared with check plot, rice yield was increased by application of soil amendments significantly in all plots but rice straw one. 2. The effects of soil amendment on rice production were in the order of fused phosphate and N.K, addition > silicate material and N.K, addition=Compost > rice straw and lime plot. 3. The significant correlation was showed among the rice yield and the numbers of panicle and grain. 4. The application of the rice straw restrained the rice growth because of nitrogen defficiency in early stage but increased rice yield due to the number of panicle due to supplying nitrogens late stage. 5. The application of rice straw in wetland soil promoted to occur organic acids such as $PCO_2$ and $HCO_3$, and decreased tillering due to these organic acids occuring in early growth stage.
The maize production in South-eastern Asian countries showed a continuous increase with increasing poultry-livestock from the beginning of the 1990s to early 2010. Also the need for a new variety development of each contries was increased rapidly in the same period. Single-Cross hybrid varieties have been developed and supplied from 2001 instead of multi-cross maize varieties since 1992 in Indonesia. In Cambodia, CP group is mainly manufacturing feeds with most of the forage maize from farmers who are growing its seeds from the company. Cambodian main cultivars are varieties of multinational corporations such as DK8868 from Monsanto, NK6326, NK7328 from Syngenta and CP333 from CP group including local business company. Vietnam is the main maze importing country in South-Eastern Asia which had imported 13 times scale of amount compared to exports in average from 1990 to 2011. Vietnamese government has developed a range of varieties for improving their efficiency in production, such as the LVN-10 with political investments. Their production has been reached to 80% of the total. According to the 2012 MIFAFF (Ministry for Food, Agriculture, Forestry and Fisheries) data in Korea, domestic edible maize cultivation area was approximately 15,000ha. It showed 74,399 tons of production, 3.8% of food self-sufficiency in maize and around 0.9% of grain self-sufficiency rate. The consumption of grain is mostly rely on imports in Korea. To overcome the limit of the domestic seed market and increase maize self-sufficiency, the need to develop maze varieties for world-class is increasing at present through analyzing the market trend and prospect of the seed industry in South-eastern Asia.
This study was conducted to classify Korean native chicken(KNC) and imported chicken by phenotypic performances and DNA fingerprinting. Two lines, KNC and White Leghorn(WL) , of chicken were maintained in the laboratory of Yeungnam University. Economic traits (body weight, sexual maturity, hen-day egg production, egg weight) and phenotypic characteristics (body-type, head, feather, shank) were checked. The DNA fingerprinting was analyzed for both breeds. The growth rate of the KNC was similar to WLS and sexual maturity of the KNC came later than WL. Hen-day egg production of the KNC was also slightly lower than the WL. The egg weight was about 10g lighter than WL. There was no difference in body weight of female KNC compared to the WL after 28 weeks. The study confirms difference between KNC and WL in DNA fingerprinting as well as its outlook. Thus, we suggest that these should be tested in nationwide districts about chickens known as the KNC using DNA fingerprinting. Then, the confirmed KNC populations should be maintained and used for the genetic improvement. Finally, only confirmed KNC should be in market which induce consumer to seek the KNC by its favorite.

This study looked into estimation of variance component over swine's economic traits by multiple animal model and maternal effect model using on-farm test data of total 31,455 swine of Duroc, Landrace and Yorkshire species that were born between 2000 and 2008. Heritability by estimated additive genetic effect showed higher than one by maternal genetic effect using multivariate maternal animal model in each trait examined by each breed and most heritability when considering only additive genetic effect in multiple traits animal model was estimated to be higher than one by estimated additive genetic effect in multivariate maternal animal model. In correlation between breeding value by estimated maternal genetic effect and phenotypic value using multivariate maternal animal model, rank correlation and simple correlation of breeding value and phenotypic value by maternal genetic effect also showed low positive correlation or strong negative correlation, which can be considered that if correlation with phenotype were increased properly considering maternal genetic effect in each trait by each breed, even better improvement could be promoted.

'Seoritae' is a very famous variety of black soybean for mixed cooking with rice in Korea. However, it has a couple of bad traits such as late flowering and maturity. To improve these characteristics, seeds of original 'Seoritae' were irradiated using a 250 Gy gamma ray in 1994. Some mutants were identified and finally a new soybean variety 'Josaengseori' was developed in 2005. This variety has a few distinguishable characteristics such as smaller grain size, early maturity and high yielding compared to the 'Seoritae'. The flowering period of 'Josaengseori' is 57 days after seeding (DAS), which is 10 days earlier than that of 'Seoritae' (67 DAS). The maturation period of 'Josaengseori' is 130 DAS, which is 34 days earlier than 'Seoritae' (164 DAS). And the total yield of the new variety with 179 kg/10a is 2.4 times higher than that of 'Seoritae' with 74 kg/10a. 100 grain weight of 'Josaengseori' is 32.8 g, which is 20% lower than that of 'Seoritae' with 40.1 g.
Various species of the genus Capsicum contain in their fruits an intensively sharp and pungent substance, Capsaicin, which was first isolated in an almost pure state by Thresh. Containing the pungent principle, Capsicums are used extensively in food as a spice and in medicine as a rubefacient and carminative. Numerous methods have been proposed for the isolation, the chemical structure and the quantitative determination of Capsaicin. Modifying the several methods described before, the Capsaicin contents in various species of the genus Capsicum were determined as follows. (1) The isolation of pure Capsaicin was the essential first step for the determination of Capsaicin contents. Powdered cayenne pepper was extracted with acetone. By the method of ether alkali partition extraction slightly modified at this laboratory and by the recrystallization with light petroleum ether that was repeated ten times, the pure crystalline Capsaicin was obtained. Using this Capsaicin, the standard absorption curve was drawn with Beckman spectrophotometer model DU for the quantitative determination of Capsaicin. 92) The powdered sample was extracted in a Soxhlet extractor with ether-acetone solvent system(3:1) for 25 hours. Capsaicin in this ether-acetone extracts was efficiently separated in a pure state by paper partition chromatography using 58% methanol solution as developing agent. It was found that 58% methanol was one of the most valuable solvent to separate Capsaicin from impurities such as sterols, fatty acids, waxes and carotenoid pigments. (3) The colorimetric method modifying the Schulte-Kruger's method which consists of measuring the red color produced with diazobenzenesulphonic acid was used. Capsaicin in various species of the genus Capsicum was determined quantitatively with use of Beckman spectrophotometer model DU at $480\;m{\mu}$.
This experiment was conducted to investigate the oil content, change of fatty acid composition affected by ferlilizer levels in upland and paddy field cultivation of rapeseed, The oil content with the fatty acid such as palmitic, linoleic and linolenic was increased in the winter crop on drained paddy field compared with those of upland field in which oleic and stearic fatty acid was increased. Unsaturated, good quality fatty acid content such as oleic and linoleic acid in the cultivation of upland field was higher by 2-5% than those of paddy field. Oleic and linoleic fatty acid contents showed increased with increment of nitrogen fertilizer up to 15kg/10a, and showed same trend until 80kg/ha fertilization level of phosphate and potassium in upland field but there was no effect in paddy field cultivation.
Leaf quality and fatty acid compositions of collected perilla related genus and species germplasms such as Perilla frutescens var. japonica Hara, Perilla frutescens var. acuta Kudo, Perilla frutescens var. crispa Decaisne, Perilla frutescens var. for viridis Makino, Mosla punctulata Nakai, Mosla japonica Maxim, Mosla dianthera Maxim were analysized. The number of leaves per tiller and leaf size of perilla germplasms were more and bigger than those of mosla germplasms. Aroma degree of mosla germplasms was higher than aroma degree of perilla germplasms. Mosla germplasms could be utilized in the breeding for high aroma perilla lines. Otherwise, the softness of perilla germplasms was higher than that of mosla germplasms. In case of oil and protein contents, perilla germplasms was higher than mosla germplasms, however compositions ratio of fatty acid, especially linolenic acid of mosla germplasms was higher than that of perilla germplasms, therefore mosla germplasms could be utilized as breeding materials with high linolenic acid for industrial oil. The linolenic acid with excellent quality and unsaturated fatty acid showed negative correlation with oil content, protein content and saturated fatty acids.

The nutrient contents of pumpkins depend on many factors, including the species, climate, soil type, and plant part. The nutritional compositions of five pumpkin cultivars (red boujjang, mini hong, mini gold, boujjang, and yakhobak) were investigated. To analyze the nutrient contents of the edible parts, the other parts (seeds, skin, and stem) of each pumpkin were removed. The results showed that the proximate compositions of the edible parts of the pumpkins ranged from 74 to 87 g per 100 g for moisture, 1.6 to 3.2 g per 100 g for crude protein, 10.1 to 20.7 g per 100 g for carbohydrate content, and 2.0 to 3.4 g per 100 g for total dietary fiber. The proximate contents of the pumpkin samples were not significantly different. The thiamine contents of the pumpkins, except for red boujjang, varied from 0.03 to 0.15 mg per 100 g, but that of red boujjang had the highest level (0.60 mg per 100 g). The vitamin C contents of the pumpkins, except for boujjang, ranged from 13.0 to 14.0 mg per 100 g, but that of boujjang was the highest (49.0 mg per 100 g). In particular, yakhobak showed the highest total carotenoid and folate levels (279.5 and $74.0{\mu}g$ per 100 g, respectively). These results will be useful for coming up with better pumpkin varieties through breeding, and established the nutrient compositions of pumpkins.
