An 11-year old, intact female Poodle (weighing 2.3 kg) was referred with signs of consistent coughing, dyspnea, poor exercise tolerance, and anorexia. Diagnostic imaging and laboratory studies revealed idiopathic hemorrhagic pericardial effusion complicated with ISACHC Ib stage of chronic mitral valvular degeneration. Percutaneous transcatheter pericardiotomy (PTP) was performed at the right precordium using alligator forceps with fluoroscopic guidance. Immediately after PTP, electrocardiogram and echocardiogram showed dramatic improvement of cardiac performance. Patient was released with the prescription of furosemide (1 mg/kg, bid, PO), enalapril (0.5 mg/kg, bid, PO), cephradine (20 mg/kg, bid, PO) for mild mitral regurgitation and post-management of infection. Diagnostic studies performed at 2 weeks after PTP revealed no further accumulation of pericardial effusion and improvement of clinical signs. The dog is currently medicated with enalapril and monitored regularly.

The reason that we are familiar with fashion from the 1950s is because of the work such as New Look done by a french fashion designer, Christian Dior who had taken on an almost mythical significance by his name. Moreover, in the sense of popularity, the appearance of Marilyn Monroe and Audrey Hepburn, two typical Hollywood actresses who each has directly-opposed image, is the symbol of youthful America of the 1950s and represents the remarkable start of the American fashion. Still, these days designers and mass medias recall the fashion from the 50s remaking and parodying it to suit public's taste. Being due to the World War II, Europe suffered not only the loss of its national tradition and reputation but also got a fatal blow politically and economically. On the other hand, the United States of America occupied a primary position in the world and outstandingly became the most powerful country. The American fashion of the 1950s represents youth and newness and rejects outdated and outmoded style. In this period, appears the indication which announces previously the youth culture. Poodle skirt is the fashion item that acquired popularity among young american women and girls in the late 1950s. In effect, it is the fashion as American as apple pie. A costly A-line skirt had been transformed into a cheap felt skirt. Instead of a real poodle dog which was carried by French women like an accessory, they embroidered a poodle dog on the lower edge of their skirt. As deriding the snobbish gait, they swayed themselves frantically to the rhythm of Rock n' Roll which swept those days. This was an attitude of young Americans against the existing trend of Europe. Poodle skirt showed the free spirit and intention of young people unbound to custom and established vogue. In addition, in the aspect of comprising the American spirit of independent, pioneer, and subjective American people, it goes beyond the bounds of common concept of fad. Poodle skirt is an unique symbol of the 1950s' American fashion which prognosticates the advent of the United States and the success in modern fashion world which was changing after 1950s.

A 5-year-old, female Poodle and her daughter, 2-year-old, were referred to Konkuk University Veterinary Teaching Hospital (KVTH) due to discoloration of hair on dorsum, and generalized alopecia following clipping. Some papules and pustules are found on patch area. Complete blood counts and serum chemistry profiles were not remarkable. Trichogram revealed that melanin-granule was pigmented on hair bulb and shaft in affected area and no melanin pigmentation was noted in non-patch area. And skin biopsy showed mild epidermal hyperplasia and mild inflammation in dermis of the patch area. This case report indicates that melanotrichia can be occurred by postclipping inflammation. However, the mechanism of melanocyte proliferation and rates of melanogenesis in response to postclipping remains to be unclear in these cases.

A seven-year-old male poodle was presented with multiple non-pruritic draining skin lesions. On physical examination the dog was depressed and had three draining nodules 3.0 to 4.0 cm in diameter on the neck, flank and back. The multifocal sparing of fat lobules, macrophages, and numerous neutrophils were observed in aspiration cytologic examination of nodule. Haematological examination demonstrated a moderate leukocytosis and neutrophilia. An aerobic bacterial culture was undertaken from draining lesions on the flank. But there was no bacterial growth in aerobic culture. Therapy was initiated with oral cephalexin at a dose of 20 mg/kg, body weight three times daily and prednisolone at 1.0 mg/kg twice daily. The (lug returned to normal within 24 hours of treatment and its general attitute and appetite were improved. However, within 1 month new nodules had appeared on the dorsum over the rump, coalescing into a mass of draining nodules and tracts.

A 1-year-old, castrated male Yorkshire terrier (case 1) and a 7-year-old female Poodle (case 2) presented with delayed union fractures. In case 1, the dog had a fractured right distal radius and ulna. In case 2, the dog had a fractured left distal tibia and fibula. A physical examination and radiographs performed in both dogs revealed delayed union fractures with large gaps. The fracture sites were fixed by bone plate and screws. Autogenous cancellous bone graft was applied into the fracture gap. To encourage rapid bone union, we used matrigel containing $20{\mu}g$ of recombinant human bone morphogenetic protein-2 (rhBMP-2) in the fracture site. Radiographs were taken postoperatively to monitor healing. Rapid bone union was noted in both dogs in long-term radiographs. In case 1, the radiographs revealed that the fracture gaps of the radius and ulna were bridged at 2 weeks. Fracture lines were not observed and normal appearance was restored at 20 weeks. In case 2, the radiographs showed that fracture repair had progressed at 11 weeks. The fractures healed faster than expected in these two cases. The results indicate that rhBMP-2 and matrigel may be effective and useful materials to enhance healing of delayed fractures.

An 11-year-old intact female miniature poodle presented with a four-month history of hemorrhagic effusion. The patient was alert on physical examination, although muffled heart sounds were noted upon auscultation of the right hemithorax. The radiographic finding was pleural effusion. Ultrasonography revealed cystic changes in both ovaries and several nodules in the liver. A refractory opacity in the right lung field, as visualized with computer tomography (CT), was diagnosed as right middle lung lobe torsion with a collapsed bronchus. Five days after diagnosis, a right fifth intercostal thoracotomy was performed to remove the right middle lung lobe; the right middle lung lobe was grossly shrunken as a result of chronic lung lobe torsion. Ovariohysterectomy was also performed. Histopathologic examination revealed papillary adenocarcinoma in both ovaries and suspected metastasized ovarian adenocarcinoma cells in the lung lobe. The patient recovered favorably and had been doing well up to two months post-surgery. However, after four months, the dog presented with respiratory difficulty. The radiographic findings were pleural effusion and collapse of the right cranial and left caudal lung lobes. Malignant cells of epithelial origin were observed in the pleural effusion. The tumor cells were suspected to be metastasized cells from the previously resected lung lobe. Although cancer treatment was recommended, the suggestion was suspended and the dog was discharged from hospital. This was a case of lung lobe torsion that had occurred because of hemorrhagic effusion due to tumor. Although ovariohysterectomy and lobectomy were performed, there was a relapse of hemorrhagic effusion because of metastasized tumor from the previously resected lung lobe.

A 2-year-old miniature poodle dog was referred to Seoul Animal Clinic for assessment of traumatic ocular lesion by cat claw. Corneal perforation accompanied by hyphema following iridal laceration was observed in the left eye. Topical antibiotics, mydriatics and systemic antibiotics/steroids were applied to treat severe uveitis with miosis and fibrinous exudate. Although lenticular lesion was explored after mydriasis, it was obscured by severe corneal edema around corneal perforation. Despite aggressive treatments, the uveitis became more serious in the next day. To prevent septic implantation syndrome from anterior lens capsule disruption, phacoemulsification surgery was performed. The anterior lens capsule disruption was detected during continuous curvilinear capsulorhexis. The left eye remained the vision with mild posterior capsule opacification and intermittent conjunctival hyperemia during seven-month follow-up.

A mass was detected in the oral cavity from a 18-year-old female miniature poodle dog. Grossly, the mass was soft to hard, red to purple, and $1.5{\times}1.5{\times}1cm$ in size. Histopathologically, the mass was composed of hyperplastic gingival epithelium, well-vascularized stroma, closely packed pleomorphic cells, and numerous giant cells with multiple nuclei and abundant eosinophilic cytoplasm. Immunohistochemically, tumor cells were positive for alkaline phosphatase and cytokeratin 7, but not positive for CD68 unlike in human. The mass was diagnosed to peripheral giant cell granuloma in oral cavity through typical clinical and histopathological features.

A 10-year-old, intact male, toy poodle was presented with abdominal distension, truncal alopecia, hepatomegaly, and sustained elevation of alkaline phosphatase. Vacuolar hepatopathy and glycogen deposition in hepatocytes were confirmed by liver biopsy and ultrasound-guided fine-needle aspiration with periodic acid-Schiff (PAS) staining of mass lesion respectively. Cortisol and some sex hormones associated with adrenal gland were analyzed at IDEXX Reference Laboratories before and 1 hour after ACTH stimulation. The results of analysis confirmed elevation of some sex hormones including androstenedione, progesterone and 17 hydroxyprogesterone, not cortisol concentration, before and 1 hour after ACTH stimulation. The dog was diagnosed as atypical form of hyperadrenocorticism associated with sex steroids excess. The treatment was initiated with trilostane (0.5 mg/kg, PO, q12hr) that is an adrenal steroid synthesis inhibitor. Trilostane was administered for 8 weeks and the clinical sign including truncal alopecia was improved.
