An Analysis of Satisfaction with Implementation of Liberal Education at University -Focusing on H University Dase- (대학의 교양교육 운영에 대한 만족도 분석 -H대학 사례 중심으로-)

  • The purpose of this study is to examine satisfaction with liberal education at H university. In particular, the study is interested in students' and satisfaction with the courses of and , compulsory liberal studies. As a result of analysis, students were most satisfied with 'the percentage of liberal studies credits', being followed by 'the number of students per liberal studies class' and 'the systemicity of curriculum.' The survey also showed that, in and , students were highly satisfied with 'chance for communication with native faculty, improvement of ral expression skills' and 'improvement of orthography and grammar skill and so on. With regard to items whose satisfaction were low, the survey showed that there was the lack of connectivity between liberal studies and employment in 3 categories in common. Therefore, a direction toward enhancement of efficiency in connection with career center and the like was required in addition to establishing, developing and specifying employment category in liberal studies.

Small Scale Digital Mapping using Airborne Digital Camera Image Map (디지털 항공영상의 도화성과를 이용한 소축척 수치지도 제작)

  • This study analyzed the issues and its usefulness of drawing small-scale digital map by using the large-scale digital map which was producted with high-resolution digital aerial photograph which are commonly photographed in recent years. To this end, correlation analysis of the feature categories on the digital map was conducted, and this map was processed by inputting data, organizing, deleting, editing, and supervising feature categories according to the generalization process. As a result, 18 unnecessary feature codes were deleted, and the accuracy of 1/5,000 for the digital map was met. Although the size of the data and the number of feature categories increased, this was proven to be shown due to the excellent description of the digital aerial photograph. Accordingly, it was shown that drawing a small-scale digital map with the large-scale digital map by digital aerial photograph provided excellent description and high-quality information for digital map.

  • The purpose of this study is to develop a lighting apparatus of the illuminance and color temperature to maximize the ability of the optimal combination of light sources that can be controlled efficiently control device. Finding people comfortable feeling for indoor lighting that can be used in a variety of color temperature illumination area by combining light sensitivity can be realized. Lighting apparatus for fluorescent lamps with different color temperature of 2000K and 8000K, and by varying the quantity of each of the fluorescent lamps, the illuminance of lighting equipment and color temperature through optical simulations were evaluated.   • The purpose of this study is to analyze elementary science gifted students' characteristics of the thinking in the problem solving process through a MEA(Model Eliciting Activity)activity. The subjects of this study are 40 elementary science gifted students who passed the first screen for the admission to the science gifted education institute in P university in 2018. The MEA activity was 'Coffee cup challenge', which is to find the best way to place cup side and bottom to save paper in a given material. Three drawings from each student and explanations of each drawing through out the design process were collected as the main data source. The data were analyzed by statistically (correlation coefficient) and qualitatively to find the relationship between; 1) the intuitive thinking and visual representation and 2) analytical thinking ability and communication skills that reflect MEA activities. In conclusion, first, intuitive thinking plays an important role in the ability of visual representation through pictures and the whole problem solving process. Second, the analytical thinking and elaboration process which are reflected through reflection on the arrangement of the drawings have a great influence on the communication skills. Therefore, this study investigated that MEA activities are useful activities to stimulate both intuitive and analytical thinking in elementary science gifted students, and to develop communication ability, by organizing their own ideas and providing learning opportunities for various solutions.

  • Identification of associated knowledge based on content relevance is a fundamental functionality in managing service and security of core knowledge. This study compares the performance of methods to identify associated knowledge based on content relevance, i.e., the associated document network composition performance of keyword-based and word-embedding approach, to examine which method exhibits superior performance in terms of quantitative and qualitative perspectives. As a result, the keyword-based approach showed superior performance in core document identification and semantic information representation, while the word embedding approach showed superior performance in F1-Score and Accuracy, association intensity representation, and large-volume document processing. This study can be utilized for more realistic associated knowledge service management, reflecting the needs of companies and users.

A Study on Parenting Competency of Mothers with Mental Illness (여성정신장애인의 양육능력에 관한 연구)

  • For women living with mental illness, motherhood may be a normalizing life experiences and offers the opportunity to develop competencies in a major life roles. So, the main premise of this study that social contexts, social support of spouse and extended family, is very important for successful parenting of mothers with mental illness. Thus this study analyzes the impact of marital relationship and social support of networks on three dimensions of parenting competency(expression of love, encouragement of independence, rational discipline) when the socioeconomic(age, number of offsprings, subjective economic level) and disability variables(diagnosis, severity of symptoms, chronicity, frequencies of psychiatric admission) are controlled. This study conducted the survey with 145 mothers with schizophrenia and mood disorder. The major finding of the study are : i) Using step-wise multiple regression, marital relationship, social supports and economic level affect significantly on the expression of love. ii) Using step-wise multiple regression, the most powerful influenced factor on encouragement of independence is marital relationship. iii) Using step-wise multiple regression, diagnosis, severity of symptoms, chronicity and economic level affect significantly on the rational discipline. That is two dimensions of parenting competency, expression of love and encouragement of independence, can be explained well by social contexts variables(marital relationship, social support, economic level). But only rational discipline can be explain well by disability factors. In conclusion, this study recommends service providers to use family based comprehensive case management for the mothers with mental illness.

Middle school students' interpretation, construction, and application of visual representations for magnetic field due to a current (전류에 의한 자기장에 대한 중학생의 시각적 표상 해석, 구성, 적용 능력)

  • The magnetic field due to a current is one of the core concepts in electromagnetism which has been taught in secondary science education. In addition, it is a representative example of using visual representations to explain the relation between invisible physical quantities; current and magnetic field. In this study we investigated middle school students' representational competence into three components; interpretation, construction, and application of visual representations. According to the analysis, more than 75 % of the respondents interpreted the meaning of the arrows for current and magnetic field correctly. However, half of them confused the movement of electric charges with the direction of magnetic field. Over 60 % of the students constructed the magnetic field representation as circular closed curves, but many of them could not express the density of field lines properly. In application of visual representations, more than half failed to draw the direction of compass needle correctly. The scores were in order of interpretation, construction and application. There were also significant correlations among three components of representational competence. More attention and research on students' representational competence and effective use of visual representations is needed to better support science learning and teaching.

Approximation Methods for Efficient Spatial Operations in Multiplatform Environments (멀티 플랫폼 환경에서 효율적인 공간 연산을 위한 객체의 근사 표현 기법)

  • Spatial database systems achieve filtering steps with MBR(Minimum founding Rectangle) for efficient query processing, and then carry out refinement steps for candidate objects. While most operations require fast execution of filtering, it is necessary to increase the filtering rates and reduce the number of refinement steps in the low computing powered devices. The compact representation method is also needed in the mobile devices with low storage capacity. The paper proposes various approximation methods for efficient spatial operations in the multiplatform environments. This paper also designs a compression technique for MBR, which occupies almost 80% of index data in the two dimensional case. We also analyze the advantages and drawbacks of each method in terms of space utilization, filtering efficiency and speed.

  • In this paper, a mechanism to enhance the utilization of the tertiary storage devices such as optical disk, digital tape and so on is proposed. For this purpose, we suggest a storage structure with a CD-ROM and multiple disk and design an efficient mechanism to represent the continuous media stored in CD-ROM. The continuous media storage structure proposed in this pater can enhanced the retrieval capability of information by sending data using a shared bus with high bandwidth. And a continuous media representation mechanism not only can reduce the discontinuity of representation using parallel operation of fetch and representation but also minimize the variance of service time and the missing ratio of re-reference requirement by residing frequently accessed object on the disk.

A Study on the Development of the Information Literacy Curriculum Model for Undergraduates Based on Kuhlthau's Information Search Process(ISP) Model (Kuhlthau의 ISP모델에 기반한 대학의 정보활용능력 교육과정 모델 개발 연구)

  • Information literacy(IL) is the essential skill in the knowledge information society in the 21st century. Spreading the awareness of importance of IL across the world, the efforts to develop and implement IL standards or instructions are expanded around United States, United Kingdom, and Australia. In this study, Author extracts the core elements of IL from domestic and foreign IL standards and integrates those with Kuhlthau's Information Search Process(ISP) Model in order to develop the curriculum model of IL for undergraduates. The curriculum model has been constructed by consideration of capability of application to practice and expressed as the syllabus for the structure of university education. In the curriculum model, major instructional contents are extracted from 6 core elements of IL and the contents are organized by 6 ISP stages. Author suggests some successive studies based on the curriculum model for expansion and advancement of IL instruction.
