The subjects of this study were completed by 201 nursing students from 2 colleges in D City. Data were collected from December 2 to 20, 2019. Data were analyzed using the t-test, the ANOVA, the Pearson correlation coefficient, and multiple regression analysis by SPSS ver. 21.0. There were significant positive correlations among knowledge of standard precaution, awareness of standard precaution, and moral sensitivity on performance of standard precaution. The factors influencing performance of standard precaution of the study subjects were awareness of standard precaution(β=.78, p<.001), and the explanatory power of these variables was 60.5%. The development of awareness of standard precaution education program that focuses awareness of standard precaution change is needed.

  • The purpose of this study is a descriptive investigation study to find out the knowledge, awareness and performance of the nurse's standards precaution(SP) and to identify the factors affecting the performance of them. The research method was collected through a questionnaire from nurses at two general hospitals in B city and analyzed with technical statistics, t-test, ANOVA, Person's correlation coefficient and Multiple regression using the SPSS program. As a result of the average level of knowledge of the SP 22.55/25, recognition 3.68/4, and performance 3.77/4. The recognition of SP and implementation of SP(r=.250, p=.003) had a significant amount of correlation. The influence factor on the implementation of the SP was recognition of the SP(β=-.582, p=.001). Therefore, in order to improve the performance of SP and to respond well to new respiratory infections, accurate awareness of the SP of nurses and opportunities for systematic education and participation in education are needed by medical institutions.

  • This study is a descriptive research to investigate the, safety environment, and performance of nurses working in public medical institutions on standard precautions for infection, and to identify factors affecting the performance of standard precautions for infection. As for the research method, data were collected through a questionnaire on 192 nurses from two public medical institutions in S city and N city, and the results were analyzed using the SPSS WIN 22.0 statistical program. From the research results, there was a significant difference in the knowledge of standard precautions according to work experience, and there was a significant difference in the safety environment of standard precautions according to the position. The average level of knowledge of standard precautions was 21.98/25 points, the average safety environment was 5.68/7 points, and the average performance was 40.28/60 points. There was a significant positive correlation between the safety environment of standard precautions and the performance of standard precautions (r=.21, p<0.01). The affecting factor on the performance of standard precautions was found to be the safety environment of standard precautions(𝛽=.22, p=.003). Therefore, to improve the performance of standard precautions for nurses' infection control in public medical institutions, Different and persistent infection management educational programs that consider the Historical situation and monitoring are required other than providing financial support and supportive safety environment.

  • The goal of this study was to survey the degree of nursing students' knowledge of standard precaution, intention about performance, attitude toward performance, safety climate, performance of standard precaution and to identify factors influencing performance. A cross-sectional survey was implemented with samples of 296 nursing students. We collected the data from June 15 to 30, 2018 and analyzed by SPSS 21.0 program. There were significant correlation between intention about performance, attitude toward performance, safety climate and performance. The factors that affecting performance of standard precaution among nursing students are intention about performance and safety climate, which explained 20% of the variances. Therefore, It needs to develop an infection management education program and to prepare an safe nursing practice environments in hospitals for nursing students to improve their implementation of standard precautions for preventing clinical infection.

  • This study was conducted to identify the factors affecting the compliance of standard precautions for nurses working in long term care hospitals. As a result of the analysis, 8.50 points in perception of the standard precautions, 3.76 points in health beliefs(subcategories- 4.03 points in perceived sensitivity, 4.04 points in perceived seriousness, 3.91 points in perceived benefits, 3.54 points in perceived barrier, 2.92 points in cues to action), 37.90 points in compliance status of the standard precautions. The performance of the standard precautions was positively correlated with perception of the standard precautions(r=0.419, p=.001) and health beliefs (r=0.443, p<.001), perceived sensitivity (r=0.169, p=.044), perceived barrier(r=0.486, p<.001), perceived benefits (r=0.207, p=.013), cues to action (r=0.204, p=.014). The compliance status of the standard precautions was influenced by the perceived barrier(β=0.373, p<.001), cues to action (β=0.271, p<.001), perception of the standard precautions(β=0.245, p=.004)explanatory power was 32.5%.

  • Objectives: The purpose of this study was to investigate nursing students' knowledge, awareness and performance and to identify the influencing factors on performance of standard precaution for Healthcare-associated Infection. Methods: Subjects were 334 nursing students who were 3rd and 4th years in the nursing university in Gwangju. Data were collected using questionnaires from April 24 to May 25, 2018. The collected data was analyzed by descriptive statistics, pearson's correlation coefficient and stepwise multiple regression using IBM SPSS 21.0 program. Results: Mean scores of knowledge, awareness and performance about standard precaution for Healthcare-associated Infection were 19.95±2.43, 4.71±0.37, 4.55±0.49, respectively. Statistically significant differences were shown in the performance of standard precaution related to grade(t=-3.627, p=.000) and experience of infection prevention education(t=3.239, p=.001). Significant relationships were found among knowledge(r=.201, p=.000), awareness(r=.522, p=.000) and performance of standard precaution in nursing students. The results of stepwise multiple regression indicates that awareness(β=.507, p=.000) and grade(β=.169, p=.000) and experience of infection prevention education(β=.094, p=.043) predicts 30.8% in performance of standard precaution(F=50.520, p=.000). Conclusions: to enhance performance of standard precaution for nursing students, it is necessary to develop and utilize a program that experience of infection prevention education according to the appropriate grade group and enhances awareness.

  • The purpose of this study was to identify blood and body fluids exposure, and factors influencing compliance with standard precautions among nurses. Participants consisted of 144 nurses in three general hospitals located in C province. Data were collected using a questionnaire that consisted of awareness, compliance, safety environment and attitude toward standard precautions. A total of 40.3% of participants had been injured by syringes or sharp tools that had already been used for patients within the last 1 year 1.01 times. Moreover, 22.9% of participants had been exposed to blood and body fluid of patients 1.06 times within the last 1 year. The mean score for compliance with standard precautions was lower than its awareness. There was a significant correlation between compliance and awareness and a safe environment. Multiple regression revealed an adjusted $R^2$ of 0.166 with the awareness score serving as the major predictor variable for compliance of standard precautions. Therefore, it is necessary to develop strategies to apply to systemic and continuous education regarding standard precautions and to foster a safe environment to enhance nurses' compliance with standard precautions.

The data were collected from 168 nursing students who experienced clinical practice in the two colleges located Jeonnam. The data were analyzed by descriptive statistics, t-test, ANOVA, Scheffe, Pearson's correlation coefficient, and stepwise multiple regression with SPSS 20.0 program. The result of the stepwise multiple regression indicates the awareness predict 77.7% (F=579.84, p<.001) in the performance of standard precaution. Therefore, it is necessary to develop awareness of the standard precaution strategy program for improving the performance of standard precautions in nursing students experiencing clinical practice.
