The subjects of the study were 195 senior nursing students who completed clinical practice at three universities located in J province. As a result of the study, subjective norms showed a partial mediating effect between standards precautions knowledge and standards precautions compliance. And the explanatory power (R2) explaining the standards precautions compliance was 35%. Therefore, in order to promote the standards precautions compliance in nursing students, it is necessary to develop standards precautions knowledge and prepare effective strategies to induce subjective norms through it.

  • The purpose of this study is a descriptive investigation study to find out the knowledge, awareness and performance of the nurse's standards precaution(SP) and to identify the factors affecting the performance of them. The research method was collected through a questionnaire from nurses at two general hospitals in B city and analyzed with technical statistics, t-test, ANOVA, Person's correlation coefficient and Multiple regression using the SPSS program. As a result of the average level of knowledge of the SP 22.55/25, recognition 3.68/4, and performance 3.77/4. The recognition of SP and implementation of SP(r=.250, p=.003) had a significant amount of correlation. The influence factor on the implementation of the SP was recognition of the SP(β=-.582, p=.001). Therefore, in order to improve the performance of SP and to respond well to new respiratory infections, accurate awareness of the SP of nurses and opportunities for systematic education and participation in education are needed by medical institutions.

The survey was performed on 163 nursing students in three universities. Data were collected using a structured questionnaires and analyzed using t-test, ANOVA, Pearson correlation coefficient, and multiple regression with SPSS 25.0 program. Study findings revealed that performance standard precautions was significantly correlated with ethical awareness about pandemic(r=.17, p=.033), perceived susceptibility(r=.33, p<.001), perceived severity (r=.24, p=.003), perceived benefits(r=.35, p<.001) and perceived obstruction(r=-.31, p<.001). The factors that had the influences on performance standard precaution were the perceived benefits(β=.20, p=.014)) and perceived obstruction(β=-.20, p=.008). And the explanation power of the regression model appeared as being 18.1%(F=8.09, p<.001). It is necessary to develop a systematic infection education program that considers ethical awareness, and perceived severity and obstruction among health beliefs of standard precaution to improve performance standard precaution of nursing students.

  • The purpose of this study was to investigate the actual situation of nursing students' exposure to blood and body fluids, and their knowledge, awareness and performance of standard precautions in an attempt to offer basic data for education of nursing students concerning infection control. The participants of this study were 309 juniors and seniors enrolled in the nursing colleges in J province. Of the participants, 71.5% turned out to have experienced exposure to the blood and body fluids of patients. The mean score of the knowledge about standard precautions was $20.59{\pm}2.05$, whereas grade, infection control education were statistically significant. The average awareness of standard precautions scored $4.67{\pm}.36$, and age, no follow-up measures were statistically significant. The mean sore for the performance of standard precautions was $4.25{\pm}.70$, while exposure to blood and body fluids was found to be statistically significant. There was positive correlation between the participants' knowledge, awareness and performance. The awareness(${\beta}=.274$) of standard precautions only stood out significantly among the factors affecting the performance of standard precautions, accounting for 8.6% in the performance variance of standard precautions. The study found it necessary to develop the infection control program in diverse ways by complementing especially the areas which used to show low awareness and performance of standard precautions. It is thus suggested to intensify education for students about infection control prior to starting clinical training.

  • The purpose of this study was to explore and describe the relationship of the perception of patient safety culture, knowledge of standard precaution and performance of standard precaution among long-term care hospital nurses. Participants were 134 nurse in long-term hospital. Data were collected with structured questionnaires from January 2 to June 4, 2018. Data were analyzed by SPSS/WIN 21.0 program for descriptive statistics t-test, ANOVA, Scheffe's test and Pearson's correlation coefficient. The perception of patient safety culture were significantly correlated with knowledge of standard precaution(r=.192, p=.027), performance of standard precaution(r=211, p=.014). Therefore, in order to enhance the perception of patient safety culture and performance of standard precaution of long-term care hospital nurses, it would be necessary to enable health-care associated infections by themselves by cultivating standard precaution knowledge through systemic education and by enabling the establishment of affirmative patient safety culture.

  • Objectives: The purpose of this study was to investigate nursing students' knowledge, awareness and performance and to identify the influencing factors on performance of standard precaution for Healthcare-associated Infection. Methods: Subjects were 334 nursing students who were 3rd and 4th years in the nursing university in Gwangju. Data were collected using questionnaires from April 24 to May 25, 2018. The collected data was analyzed by descriptive statistics, pearson's correlation coefficient and stepwise multiple regression using IBM SPSS 21.0 program. Results: Mean scores of knowledge, awareness and performance about standard precaution for Healthcare-associated Infection were 19.95±2.43, 4.71±0.37, 4.55±0.49, respectively. Statistically significant differences were shown in the performance of standard precaution related to grade(t=-3.627, p=.000) and experience of infection prevention education(t=3.239, p=.001). Significant relationships were found among knowledge(r=.201, p=.000), awareness(r=.522, p=.000) and performance of standard precaution in nursing students. The results of stepwise multiple regression indicates that awareness(β=.507, p=.000) and grade(β=.169, p=.000) and experience of infection prevention education(β=.094, p=.043) predicts 30.8% in performance of standard precaution(F=50.520, p=.000). Conclusions: to enhance performance of standard precaution for nursing students, it is necessary to develop and utilize a program that experience of infection prevention education according to the appropriate grade group and enhances awareness.
